As a single parent I'm always looking to make things, with minimal ingredients, maximum taste...so here's something I made during my pre-op phase that was sooo tasty I froze it until I get to my pureed phase post-op (8 days to go)
Broccoli (I went with frozen because I wanted to make a lot)
1 can Cream of Celery (look for low fat/low sodium varieties if you want)
1 white or yellow onion diced
Salt n pepper
In your med or lrg saucepan saute onions in olive oil until soft, maybe 5-7 min
In the same pot, add broccoli, Water and boil your broccoli until soft, maybe 10 min
Pour off water
If they are soft enough you can mash them with a fork for big broccoli tidbits or pop them in the blender for puree
If you're going to puree, add abt 1/4-1/2 cup of cream of Celery before blending. *Taste, as you're adding cream of Celery, it can be very overpowering! Otherwise add to saucepan, salt/pepper to taste and enjoy!!

Here's a quick easy, yummy high Protein Drink (because I'm struggling to get all mine in at almost 2wks post-op)
water bottle 16.9 or 20 oz
1.5 pkg of Crystal light fruit Punch
Your favorite vanilla Protein drink
1 scoop Unflavored Protein Powder (I use Isopure)
Add protein powder, 1 pkg of Crystal light to Water bottle and mix
Add more Crystal light for sweetness/taste if needed
Add abt 3 Fluid ounce of the vanilla protein, shake and tweak it until you get a fruit punch, vanilla ice cream flavor.
Dilute with water if it comes out too sweet
Should come out abt the consistency of a party punch (minus the ginger ale or 7-up)
Enjoy...simple, quick, high protein

It is literally right after I take one bite or one sip. I don't have much gas pain otherwise so i am wondering if this is a normal sensation in the beginning and will it last very long? I have heard of people talking about feeling full and needing to burp or getting pain when they get full but I don't think this is the same since it only takes one bite or one sip. Will this be the same feeling when I do get full later on??
I am also choosing not to take any of the Lortab they sent me home with for pain because I am intensely afraid of throwing up and Hydrocodone usually makes me do so. Other than what I mentioned above and the incision site soreness in the abdominal wall, I am not in any other pain. Oh onemore question, how did everyone do with coughing up thick phlegm out of their lungs post-op? The coughing hurts badly when it happens.
I was sleeve on 3/23 and this is exactly what's going on with me, each bite/drink I feel like I'm swallowing a gallon of air and then pain follows. I am using GasX and taking an acid reducer daily...I'm hoping this is just a passing phase because sharp pains for ANY reason is no fun. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

I was sleeved on 3/23 and so I'm about 1 wk out, my surgeon requires 3 WEEKS of liquid post-op which I thought was crazy talk BUT being in the throws of it, I don't hv much of an appetite to do as much cheating as I thought I wanted to do, lol...I say that to say as long as you're keeping up on your Proteins and liquid there should be no harm in staying on liquids as some Dr keep their patients there anyway.

My doc said as soon as you're off narcotics....I drove post-op day 4 and decides not to do it again until today (day 7)

I'm a week post-op today, and this is my third morning with nausea...make sure you're taking your acid reducers, could also hv something to do with timing of your Vitamins (I think that's my issue, so I'm going to switch it up today), try and sleep propped up a little and of course you know to stay up on your Water and proteins...goodluck!

VSG 3/23, I was just chugging along, no nausea, pain managed, having bowel movements until today...I am so uncomfortable sitting, laying and standing, nausea/vomiting, pain..what gives?
I just left a msg for my Dr.

Yes, my pre-op diet was a bit of a rollercoaster, I went from mourning all the things I wouldn't be able to eat for a while, to determined, but as it got closer I was able to pull it together in the end...just hang in there, you can do it!

My sleep study is March 28th.
Does anyone think I can have the surgery by April 15.
I am paying.
Yes, it's very possible if he has u start your 2wk pre-op as soon as ur done with the study..I. was self-pay, I got on the schedule exactly 17days out. -
I don't think the dietician can refer for surgery but you should get a different PCP. Don't let the PCP waste anymore of your time. Depending on insurance you may be able to select a surgeon who will submit paperwork and work with your PCP (old or new)...goodluck!

We are surgery twins I was sleeved on 3/23...what you're experiencing are classic signs of gas. I purchased some GasX dissolvable strips and keep them handy for the 1st lil gurgle or sign of pressure. Walking also helps alleviate gas pains. Good luck!

Congratulations on your commitment to change! Straight away it appears you may not be eating enough calories which can actually have the opposite effect, Google ketosis. Check for hidden sugars, fat and salts in your diet. Make sure you're getting enough Water and don't give up! You can do it!!

I don't see myself drinking any Protein Shakes today...I can feel everything pass through the sleeve and milk doesn't sound good right about now..any suggestions?
