If possible, do try to change your nurse to either Dorothy or Barb. Also, I have not had a fill yet but will. I have had no problems what so ever. I am steadily losing and feeling really good. As I understand, slipage is rare so don't be too concerned. The hardest part was the liquid diet for 10 days (mine ended up to be 14 days due to a last minute surgery reschedule). After your surgery, you really won't want to eat and you start out very slow. Park Nicollet has an entire program and will give you all of the information as to what you need to be eating as you go along. At this time, I can eat anything I want, I simply eat small portions. I also exercise and drink plenty of water. I have also pretty much cut out all alcohol consumption. I understand your nerviousness, this is a big step. Most people have a good experience with this surgery and most do very well. There are a few that have difficulties, they do happen. Good thing, there are far more good experiences than bad. My name is Deb, I live just north of Forest Lake. Where abouts are you from?

Hi Julieann, I went through Park Nicollet as well. I used Dr. Wetherall but I've heard that Dr. Jones is the best and I have also heard that between the nurses get either Dorothy or Barb, Carol would be your third choice. I have Carol and she at times isn't very helpful. Don't worry too much about the phyc appointment, it's very generic. You'll have to take the MMPI and then talk after the results from the test come in. Be honest and frank. It was pretty nice actually. I live north of Forest Lake and was banded on December 9th. I'm down 52 pounds and doing well. Good luck girl.
  6. I was banded on December 9, 2006. All is going well, I'm down 50 pounds and feeling pretty good. I've been measuring my food out 3 times a day, at 1/2 cup. Trying to get in all of the protien possible and drinking, drinking, drinking. I really have no restriction at all and I find myself cheating. For some crazy reason, I am totally affraid of getting a fill. Was anyone else worried? Please, any help or support would be very much appreciated. I don't mean to horn in here and I'm sorry for that.

I haven't had a fill yet. I'm really scared. I don't know why but it scares me. But, I will when I should. I think the doc wants to do a fill on Feb 8th. Got any plans for the weekend?

Welcome to the board. I had my surgery on December 9th and have lost 32 so far. I'm very happy. Have you had your surgery?
  12. Hello Everyone! I have a quick question. How much do you eat per meal? As of tomorrow I am 1 month from banding. I am eating 3 meals a day, 1/2 cup per meal, all Protein. Is that about the right amount? I really don't feel any restriction yet but am being very careful to follow all of the rules my docs gave me. I've lost 28lbs since beginning liquids on 11/27. Does this sound normal to everyone? I have an appointment on Feb 8th where they may do my first fill. Just kind of wondering what others experiences are or have been.
  13. This is Deb, I'm back at work and doing fine. I get very tired (expected), and I'm having trouble with some back pain but doing great. I've lost 25 lbs. since November 27th and am very excited. The folks at work were very surprised by the weight loss as was I. I told everyone not to expect to see any difference, I surprised us all. I hope everyone is doing well and Happy New Year!
  14. Thanks so much for that response. It is difficult right now but I'm hanging in there. I'm happy the my surgeon decided to stay home when he is ill and not expose me and others to what ever he had. I'm feeling better now. I feel kind of stuck but have put the time to use with doing some Christmas shopping. Thanks again for the reply. This website has been a Godsend for me.
  15. Good morning everyone, Here I sit back at my desk at work. My surgery was scheduled for yesterday at 7:00am. I was in pre-op, in my gown, had my blood sugar taken, paperwork all finished an in place, 2 minutes away from the IV when in comes the charge nurse to tell me my surgeon called in sick. I was in shock. I understand that doctors are human and get sick but I was taken aback by the response from the hospital. I would have thought that there would have been contingencies in place but nope, sorry Deb, can you come back on Saturday? I made a lot of phone calls yesterday to get insurance, work, etc., straightened out. I've also lost some confidence in the nurse that is supposed to be assigned to me. I called her and she was actually surprised to hear about my surgery being rescheduled and basically was no help. Bad day yesterday. I'm rescheduled for Saturday. Keep your fingers crossed for me everyone.
