~*~ June 2010 Exercise challenge and chat ~*~

I would like to join. I will comit to going to the gym on my days off starting tomorrow (usually 2-3 days a week) and doing a 1-3 mile walking video daily. Let's work it out!!!
  3. Hi all, Erika have tried any exercise videos. They come in various lengths (from 10mins and up). I think a good idea would to be to try to find a few bandsters who use videos and maybe we could rotate them for 4 to 6 six weeks for some variety and then by the end of a particular cycle you would have your originals back if you wanted.:tongue2:
  4. For me it kinda of even out. After the first 20 to 25 pounds my sister kept commenting about my ever shrinking face. Also it can be an adjustment for you and others to get used to your smaller features. I'm having problems buying clothes--I'm always buying them too big.

    Protein Bars

I like the Pure Protein bars. I've also like some of the Kashi bars (not that chocolate truffle). I keep the bars in my purse for when I'm hungry to hold me until I can eat.
  6. I really haven't had problems with much food. I found when I was sick that I couldn't drink orange juice. It gave me bad heartburn the three times I tried it. (Go figure)

    Starbucks fanatics unite!

Last week was the first time I had iced coffee from Starbucks. I was drinking iced coffee from McDonald pre-surgery and had stay away from but I was craving it so bad. Well--when I looked at the cal content--I don't feel bad. I usually get a Grande ice coffee with sugar-free hazelnut syrup and a splash of nonfat milk. I will ask for the protein now!!

    Bodybugg users report here!

I have a metal allergy, which is why I don't wear watches. I was wondering if someone could tell me if the band on the BB stops the metal on the back (if there's any) from touching the skin??
  10. Loved your story!!!! I'm kinda having a problem with buying clothes lately. It's like my hand automatically grabs the largest size. I am almost four months post-op and I've lost about 52lbs. I was wearing a 30/32 woman's clothing. I go to the store and hesitantly pick up a size 26 pants knowing I've lost some weight. How about those bad boys kept sliding off my waist and the seat area looked like I was carrying a load. I had bought a 24 also thinking I could wear them maybe in June. Those 24's fit perfectly. I can't remember the last time I wore a size 24. (I'm bottom heavy). Keep up the great work all!!!!

    Just a Thought...

And sometimes people are just more comfortable with THEIR compartmentize thoughts of you. I find myself guilty of that with thoughts of myself. An example is my sister treated me to some clothing. I started this journey in Dec 09 wearing a tight 30/32 from the Avenue. I've lost over 50lbs but was hard me to pick up a smaller size than 28 therefore I picked up the size 26 even though I told myself to buy the size that I just fit into. Needless to say I put those 26 on today and they were loose.

how soon after being banded to start ab workout?

I was banded on 12/17/09 and I asked my doctor this very question on my last visit last Wednesday and I was told I could have started six weeks after surgery. I did try once and was sore. I'm adding abs to my workout this week.
  16. I agree with others who have posted. I feel that weight loss surgery can be compared to many other situations in life like abusive relationships and drug addictions. The individual themselves have to realize that there's a problem and be willing and able to make a change. I'm a nurse myself. I knew the risks of being 359lbs. I knew the risks and benefits of WLS, however it took me two years to finally decicde to have the surgery. My surgery date was 12/17/09. To date, I have lost 49 pounds. This, for me, is the most weight I have ever lost in a 3 month span in my life. I haven't seen my brother or my brother-in-law since the surgery until this week. One said, "Wow that really works, I can see the weight loss in the dark!!" The other said, "You've lost weight but I don't see it in your ass. You'll never lose it there maybe you should have done the bypass you would have lost more." I could be somewhat upset with the latter comment but why should I. I know that I'm doing what is best for me!!! At some point, we have to all come this point for ourselves.

    Treadmill VS Elliptical

I feel you need to consider what your goals are. I use the ellipitical, treadmill, and the bike when I go to the gym. I weigh 310lbs now. I use the treadmill to walk because I eventually I want to start to run. I use the elliptical now because it burns more calories than the treadmill for me, and I'm bottom heavy and I feel it working and reshaping my lower body. I go to the gym 3 to 4 times a week. I spend 45 mins on both the ellitpical and the treadmill.

    December Delights 2009

Karyn Thanks so much for your post!! So yesterday I go for a follow-up visit. I had lost 5lbs my last visit (2/17) and was really disappointed. I asked my doctor for a fill and she gave me I think 1.2cc but I know it brought me up to 7cc in a 14cc band. She also told me that my weight loss was right on target and that I should consider that the more liquid in my band--the fewer things I will be able to easily tolerate. Armed with that information I made a goal to lost 10lbs by my next visit. I decided I was really going to hit the gym three times a week consistently. Well yesterday I was happy that I lost 11 lbs since my last visit. My doctor asked me if I wanted a fill and I told her no. I had to go to work late after my visit so it really didn't hit me that I'm 49lbs lighter than I was a little over three months ago!!! So I want to say thanks again to all who post such encouraging words!!!

Do you have a goal prize?

I love this thread!! I believe we should all reward ourselves in some form or fashion. I bought myself an IPOD after my first thirty!! (I love it when I go to the gym because it makes the time go by so fast). Although I have one pound to go, I bought myself a Kindle 2 for my 50lb goal. For my 75lb, which I hope to get to sometime around my birthday, I want a Louis Vutton bag!!!

    At-Home Workout Videos

I've forgotten about Billy--Thanks for the reminder I'm sure I have a couple of his tapes. For anyone looking for firm tapes or any other exercise dvds I usually order from totalfitnessdvds.com. It's fast delivery and discounted prices.
  21. I'm pear shaped as well. I've lost in my face, neck shoulders, stomach, and my precious butt. I'm not losing in my hips and thighs (where I need to the most).
