Great going Josephine.... If you do everything right, you are bound to lose weight... Sometimes the scale won't show as you build muscle and muscle weight is more than the fat weight and hence no change. But you will be losing the inches !!

I followed what my surgeon asked me to do. As someone already said, I was also looking at a bigger picture. My doctor told me that a pre-op diet isnt necessary with a bmi of under 50. He requested a bowel clease 48 hours prior to flying as he didn't want me to have a sense of urgency on an airplane or while traveling. After a bowel cleanse, then it was Clear Liquids only until surgery.

No regrets till date.... Not for a single moment did I think that I made a wrong decision. Sometimes feeling nauseating is nothing that I cannot cope up with and won't regret my decision coz of that... It is now a total different world where I don't think food all the time...The little portions which I eat now sometimes makes me think that maybe I should have controlled my portion size long back .....Anyways, now it is not too late. If I follow the guideline of post-op, I am gonna succeed... I won't crew up this time....

Almost 2 weeks after your surgery you will feel as you were pre-op.

I had been sleeved by Dr. Miguel Zapata in Monterrey, Mexico. Before deciding on the doctor I did a lot of homework , and then zeroed in for this doctor as he had an excellent track record and didn't have much of negative feedback. You might want to look at this doctor before finalizing yours. Good Luck..

I had my surgery done in Monterrey, Mexico by Dr. Miguel Zapata last month itself....I had gone for my surgery to MTY from NJ mainly due to cost issue and did a lot of research before deciding for the doctor. I know many of you would think that you might not get the quality treatment in Mexico as you get in your own country. It might be true for some other doctor but not for Dr. Zapata. I opted for Dr. Zapata because he workd out of a JCI hospital and he had an excellent track record. Sleeve demands the least maintenence of all weight loss surgery, which was another factor in making my decision to go to Mexico.

Hello Everyone,
I am back after my surgery. Everything went well. The doctor and the staff were very friendly and caring . The facility was amazing- clean and well equipped. The director of the hospital personally visited me to welcome me at their facility.Dr Zapata performed 3 leak tests on me.The surgery didnt hurt as much as I thought it would. I am on liquid diet at the moment. I met with the dietician,Gabriela and she told me exactly the Do's and Don't s diet after surgery. She asked me to do Clear liquids the first week, full liquids the second week. Now I am anxious to get the weight off !!!! The doctor told to me take it easy on physical activity...Walking is good but no lifting of more than 15 pounds the first 4 weeks!! This is kind of little difficult as I have two kids and the younger one os still a toddler and want to be lifted...but I will stick to the doctor's advice as I don't want to ruin my surgery coz of some wrong doing from my side !! I have 5 tiny incisions , each incision maybe about an inch long.....Dr Zapata used dissolvable stitches ,so I don't have to go and have them removed post operatively !!! Each incision is covered with a steri stip.... So no bathing for sometime , just a quick shower!!! I have to keep the stomach area clean and dry . The steri strips fall off on their own .There is a big NO NO on the use Mederma or any creams for scarring until the incisions are completely healed .... In my next post I am gonna write the diet details which I was suggested.....
Till then,
Take care

Hi All
I wanted to share some news with you guys about my weight loss surgery. Finally I took a very important decision of my life and take control of it for better. My sleeve gastrectomy is scheduled for Thursday. I did a lot of research and finally zeroed in for Dr Miguel Zapata, Monterrey, Mexico. There are a number of reasons for opting for this doctor. I am quite excited as well as apprehensive about it as my life is gonna a take a different turn after the surgery. I was not always this big!! After the birth of my 2 kids, I gained weight and never lost since then. I weigh 220 lbs and I am just 5'3''. I have all my hopes set on this surgery..........I live in NJ and will be flying today for Mexico. Right now I am waiting for my flight, so thought of writing in the forums.Dr Zapata works with a wonderful travel agent that has helped me select fligths with wheel chair assist through Atlanta (my connection point from NJ). I am hoping everything will go fine. I'll keep posting and let you know how things are going.....
