  1. I think it is most likely gas. I had real bad gas after my surgery. If gas-x and walking helps, it is probably gas. I used to get my stomach growling(in church when every one else was quite), but it wasn't hunger. You will be okay, just follow your surgeon's rules, drink lots of liquids. I found that pop-cycles were especially good for me. Good luck, Karen
  2. Congrats on your onderland! You will make goal before you know it. Karen
  3. My PCP suggested reducing my bp meds to 1/2 of what I had. So, for 2 weeks I took the lower dosage. They said to monitor my pressure. I did that and it was really good. So, I came off meds, but then my pressure read 155/90, so I went back on. My pressure seems to drop real low when I take a whole med. So, I now, cut my bp med to a 1/2 of the lower prescripton, and it stays good. I am scared to come off altogether, as it creeps back up to high. I know this sounds weird, but that is how my pressure has been. I have lost 100lbs and am in maintenance, now. Karen
  4. Dear Whaleswife, I hate to say this, but it sounds like you may have a slipped band. I, also, went through reflux and vomiting mucus at night. It got so bad, that my husband was being kept up half the night, too. I went to get 1 cc out, and the surgeon took it all out for a month. It is hard, don't let anyone tell you different. i thought after 18 months, I would be disciplined enough not to gain. I have gained, but I sleep and can eat again. Please, for your health, see your doctor. I only have 1 month of this no fill to see if my band is okay. if not, he may have to do surgery again. Good luck! Karen
  5. Wow! Did the 14 fit? Good for you!
  6. I can neither eat chicken breast or salad. May have to try other things. Karen
  7. Whether for a fill or unfill, my surgeon requires 48 hrs clear liquids, then 48 hours full liquids. After that, I can eat what I like. When I had a unfill once, not done by the surgeon, I was told that unfill wasn't quite as important to follow the liquid diet as a fill. The fill causes swelling, so my surgeon feels it is important to use the liquid diet he prescribes! Karen
  8. When was your appointment, April1. Sounds like an April Fools joke to me! Your psych eval, sounds like she has confused lapband with gastric bypass. I, also, have sugar when I want it. I usually use a sweetener, but indulge in "real" sugar, too! Karen
  9. I think that I agree with the statement above; but when willpower(won't power) gives out, lapband takes over causing you not to overeat! Karen
  10. Ryno, you are doing such a great job for yourself and your future. You have lost almost 1/2 of your goal. Good for you, keep on keeping on! Karen
  11. I have never been weighed at my surgeon's office or any other dr office in the buff! No, your BMI is with clothing on. Most surgeon's are trying to get you your surgery. Good luck. In fact, my son just started his journey in January, the surgeon(same as mine), told him to only loose about 1 lb a month. 1st month, he lost 9, but he is still within the 40 BMI. Karen
  12. I have a slipped band. My biggest problem was GERD all night long. I would cough and cough until I had to spit out slime. At my last visit, my surgeon removed everything for a month to see if it would solve the problem. I suggest a visit to your surgeon, ASAP! Karen
  13. Congrats to you, too, Sweetbean! You are doing great, too!
  14. Congrats, these NSV are better than the scale! Best wishes! Karen
  15. Hello, glad to see that this place is more active. I had to have a unfill and it is kicking my butt. I have gained and need to get back on track. As folks say, I can eat anything.Well, most anything! I am trying to maintain, but it is tough. Talk to you all soon I hope. Karen
  16. It can be either immediate or take a few minutes to happen. I have had both occurances. Both are miserable so not something that is a desirable happening! Good luck to you if you don't know and have never had this happen! Keep pineapple juice available in case it does, though. Karen
  17. I, also, drink a cup of coffee every morning. I add non-fat milk. I need that caffeine jilt. I have at times not been able to drink a cup due to restriction in the morning, but mostly I have no problem with it. It is the only caffeine I have. tea just doesn't do it for me, and I don't drink de-caf. Karen
  18. Hello Howdybooth, I had my band placed on Oct 30, 2009. We are almost mates. You look great! I am on maintenance, which for me is harder than loosing. Due to a slip, my band is empty, so now, I have to put all my learned experience of 2 years into work. It is mostly a success. Best of luck to you. Karen
  19. Yahoo! It is as a great feeling! I still get my "Woman Within" catalog. I, now, just recycle it. ( I don't know how to get off their mailing list.) I used to page through it, everything is way to big! I know that excitement, too!Karen
  20. Hurray! You did it so quick! Congradualtions!
  21. Hurray! you can do this. You are the one in control and you will be making the strides you need to live! Good luck. Karen
  22. I agree with Jaqui. I only wear Victoria Secret bras, now. If you still need a larger bra, they come in 42 dd. But, they have the underwire most of us need. They have a new bra with this cris-cross thing between the 2 straps. It helps to lift and separate. It makes my saggy girls perk up and look nice! Those bras that are on the infomercial do look like sprots bras and are pricey, too.
  23. I have to agree with the other folks. I would not give up my band for anything. I was 254 at my highest. Wow! I have to admit, it takes a lot for me to even say that to myself. I was not a food addict, but did enjoy food. I now can eat small amounts and be satisfied. I have gained and lost many times over, but with the band, it can be controlled. I, now, am at maintanance, and my band is empty due to a slip. I still am controlling myself after learning the hints of smaller servings and smaller plates. I weigh less now than in 36 years. I am happy and now I have a true addiction to shopping for my new wardrobe!!!!Karen
  24. Woohoo! Those NSV are great, aren't they? How did you keep up your old jeans, going from 26 to 18?? I know that was a great feeling. Congrats. Karen
  25. My daughter told her kids that the surgeon helps mommy not be as fluffy. Her son loves to cuddle her fluff. He is a little upset that she will get as unfluffy as grandma. But, she is still l40 lbs over her goal. He went with us to our appointments the other day, and he saw that grandma still has some fluff under her shirts!. Karen PS:Kids are more understanding than you think. Good luck with whatever you decide.
