Help....I have flu...6 days post op 11th
kll724 replied to Amanda2013's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Call your surgeon's office for advice on medical factors, we can't advice you here. My surgeon's office recommends having everything removed if you get stomach flu so that you do not cause a slip by vomit. Different strokes for different folks! -
Clear liquid phase and pills?
kll724 replied to tjmiller's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can crush most things, or ask for liquids. I got a pill cutter and cut mine in about 4 pieces to get them down. Good luck -
Best wishes for your upcoming surgery. It is nerve wracking,. My own husband really needs surgery. He has had 3 drs advice him to have wls. But he is scared too. I can't convince him otherwise, but love him just as he is. His health is what causes me to worry!

Sounds like you have a good case for a tummy tuck covered by insurance to me. Kind of wish I did ! But, would not want to deal with what you have had to do. You are getting close to your goal, you may wan to talk to someone about a tummy tuck this summer! Others are knowedgeable, not me! I wish you luck tho' Karen

walked on the tread mill for 1 hour yesterday, which was an accomplishment for me, I hate tread mills!!.

Best wishes after your reality check. Some were harsh, but sounds like you needed harsh!! If you felt that you wanted to eat like that, maybe you should have rethought lpbnd surgery!!!Most of us have gone through the liquid diet and the mushies while we were healing. Try to both listen to your surgeon and listen to voices of experience! Good luck, Karen

Congrats on your expected baby! I agree, talk to you OBGYN. i don't think that this is lapband thing. Good luck in your pregnancy! Karen -

List of cant do's
kll724 replied to healthylifestyle4me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, Healthy, you are a bad girl! Enjoy the rest, tho'. I am like others. you can do most of the stuff you used to do. You shouldn't lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk. If you have any babies, you won't be able to lift them. I waited to drive until I felt comfortable. I do remember going to church on Sunday and having to have someone drive me. It was 2 days following my surgery. I was able to even sing in the choir! Rest but remember that you need to move, too! best wishes on your upcoming surgery, Karen -
Congrats on your surgery. Yes, the shoulder pain is bad. That was when I went back on pain meds. But as previously said, walk as much as possible it is a gas deposit from your surgery. Also, try some gas-x strips. They worked wonders for me! Best wishes! Karen

I have stayed away from sodium for so long, with high blood pressure, that if I add any salt or eat things that are salty, I can tell right away. So yes, I do limit my sodium intake! Kare

My hiccups tend to come when I am finished eating. As someone said my soft warning. It usually means don't take another bite. Burping, however, I get at odd times, too!
-
I get GERD when I eat too late at night. If I don't have anything about 1 1/2 hours before bed, I am fine.

The 2nd time, I actually got a stomach virus or something. I was dehydrating and since it was a weekend, did not want to bother the surgeon's office; caught heck from him on Monday, too! Now my mantra it, if you are in trouble, call your surgeon's office!!!I guess I am a slow learner. I am okay, I have been in maintenance for 2 years. It was actually during maintenance that I had my slip. He did a revision, and thank God, I did not need it replaced. Good luck with yours, Karen

How soon after surgery can you go swimming?
kll724 replied to Flowering man's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I totally agree with b-52. My own surgeon restricted me to walking until after my 6 week check up with him. Personally, I know that there was no swimming until after all the incisions had healed. -
Yeah b-52. You are an awesome example of how this new life works for people! I went to dinner on Thursday night. Not a fancy restaurant. But, anyway, ordered and when it arrived, I immediately cut everything in half. I ate my fish 1st and 1/4 of a sweet potato. Then, everything else went home for dinner last night. How awesome to make 2 meals out of 1!!! Woohoo! to the lapband!!!!

Sorry to hear this. I guess the best I can do is give you a hug! (((hug))))!!!Best wishes, I had 2 slips, the 1st one was self adjusting after removal of a fill, the 2nd one, I had to go to the hospital for a revision. Karen

did you "fall off the bandwagon" this holiday season?
kll724 replied to sylviau's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You, as usual, made me LOL, B-52! Great ending of the old year, and happy New year and new success to all! -
Turned my head sideways, and you look nice!

I know, I even moved my seat from the farthest back, like my hubby, to the nearest, like my skinny daughter-in-law. I forgot to move my seat back after getting out of his car, and he went,"Dang, I thought that I was swollen, I was steering with my stomach!" He needs the lapband, too! -
Had to comment about "oats". wondered if that was a nickname you had for something!!! True tho, wait until your jeans bag off you, then change to the size that fits, you will surprise yourself, too! Karen

silly success yet again...
kll724 replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I don't wear panty hose during the summer, but when I go to church in fall and winter, I get them because I don't like to be cold! Yes, even here in central Florida. A body gets used to the heat and when we lose weight, its cold!!!Thanks for the NSV! -
What floridays and dee257 said. Watch either. If I was picking, I would do sugar free using stevia!

5 1/2 weeks out and my weight loss has come to a grinding hault
kll724 replied to duncanrum's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Normal, I did not lose weight for 2 months after my surgery excluding the 2 weeks following when I was on liquids. 1-2 lbs a week is good as previously said by tmf. Karen
