    getting food stuck....

I had my surgery on October 19, 2009 and as of today, I lost a total of 37lbs. I had a fill (Jan 14, 2010) just a tiny bit the doctor said to see how I would handle it. Everything was going great, but on Valentine's day I ate some lobster and ever since, I feel as if I have something lodge inside my throat. I can eat and drink but, I no longer burp or feel the food going down slowly as I used to. I tried forcing myself to vomit, to no avail. The filling was removed this past Thursday and if nothing is changed, I will have an endoscopy on Monday. Also, given that I am allergic to the "real" lobster meat, I am told the tightness in my throat and trouble swallowing could be due to a swollen esophagus. I am worried... I am very happy with my band and I would not want to have it removed.

    Over Active Thyroid

I am already taking Levoxyl 75mg daily for under-active thyroid. I hope my endocrinologist is on top of his game and catches the switch on time when/if it occurs. Well, he should since I do blood work every month just for that.
  6. I had my surgery on Oct 19. I weighed 277lbs then. Today, 10 days post-surgery, my bathroom scale reads .... drum roll please....260lbs. I am very skeptical... and since I have an appt. with my surgeon tomorrow, I'll wait for him to confirm it. I started my "mushy" period on Tuesday and all I have been eating is oatmeal in the morning and homemade bean Soup (Goya) for lunch and dinner. I ran it by my dietitian and she approved it because of the Protein in the bean.

    October 2009 Surgery Date?

My surgery was set for Oct 14. While I was in the hospital on Oct 5th for pre-registration and blood work, I caught something there similar to H1N1. I got better with medication and my primary doctor gave me her ok for the surgery. I showed up to the hospital @ 6.30am on the day of the surgery. I was supposed to be the first one.. I was all excited and ready to be " banded". To make a story short... At the last minute just before I got hooked up to the IV, my anesthesiologist felt it was to risky to put me under because I was still wheezing and coughing. My surgery was adjourned until Monday Oct 19... and here I am, 9 days post-surgery.

    Hello everyone

Thank you to all who responded with such kindness to my post. My surgery was a long time in the making. I could not decide whether to go with the gastric bypass or the band. I have 138lbs to lose and I want to keep track on my goal. Please help.

    Hello everyone

I am new here and I thank God for this site. I used to be 125-130lbs. My first child left me at 170lbs and my second at 220lbs. After numerous failed diets, I am now 278lbs. I had my surgery last Monday (10/19/09). I started "mushy" food yesterday (oatmeal with skim milk for Breakfast, sugar-free juice mixed with Water and Ysopure with skim milk plus in between, bean Soup for lunch...still sipping on the Protein drink until dinner. I may have Yogurt for dinner, I am not sure yet.) I used to feel weak and light-headed during week one, now I feel full the whole day. Also, I haven't weighed myself as of yet, but I feel a lot looser. I am scheduled to see my surgeon this coming Thursday because I am still experiencing pain inside my tummy from the procedure. Is this normal? Am I doing it right? Does filling hurt? Go banders!!!:cursing:

    First timer......

Are you still taking your proteins... I had my surgery last Monday (10/19/09) and I was told by my dietitian that after the surgery, I will need at least 50 to 60 grams of protein a day, otherwise I will have problems with my gallbladder, weak muscles and experiencing hair loss. I am using Ysopure with skim milk plus. I sip on it throughout the day... It tastes pretty good.
