Cath WELL DONE you have done so well......I am not sticking to any diet just eating normally but trying to be healthy too.....I keep thinking I should do more protein Don't worry about the hair it happens to almost everyone....happened to me after the lap band surgery but worse after the sleeve surgery, now it's back to normal so don't fret pet Good luck with your exams too!!!! How exciting Bellarose.....moving fast now Exciting times!!! And I agree this weather is AMAZING.....Bring on Summer I say....but then I will be sick of the really hot heat haha Mind you I think I will cope a lot better this year being a lot lighter I have only got 5kg left to go till I am at my first Goal Weight......don't care if it's 99.9 I just want to be under 100kg's and at the moment I am 104.5 Not sure what my total goal weight is yet but at the moment I just want to be under 100.......Starting out at 150 (My heaviest since weight loss surgeries) I think that will be a fantastic achievement if I do say so myself haha Hope everyone is well and happy....Happy Friday Everyone

Chez sorry to hear you are a bit stressed.....it wouldn't have mattered if you had the lap band or sleeve as the hair loss would have been the same. As far as what surgery to get @@Bellarose100 it has got to be YOUR decision and what YOU feel comfortable with....however I just think that you answered yourself in your reply about how you are worried about getting the band re issues that your friends have had, and that you feel that bypass is too drastic.......so that leaves the sleeve Just reading between the lines lol For me I had major issues with the band and 18 months of reop's and just didn't feel it was worth it but depending on how much weight you have to lose could be a deciding factor too. The sleeve is forever and if you have a bit of weight to lose or have always struggled with keeping weight off then its a great choice but it has to be something that you are comfortable with. I still have another 40 or so kg's to go and have lost 45 kg's in total from my highest weight. It's not easy and I am now working hard at losing weight which I knew I would have to do and it is coming off slowly for me....it's not a quick fix and I can no longer eat a normal sized meal but I am a lot healthier than when I had the lap band because I can actually eat whatever I want just in small amounts. With my band everything got stuck with one fill and with lesser fill I could eat whatever I wanted. I did lose weight but I was not as healthy as I am now thats for sure. Thats my story though and just my opinion.....it is permanant and I am happy with that (most of the time haha) Btw @@chez I lost the same amount of hair like you after I had the lap band too but it stopped after a while like this time @@nerms as Chez said slow and steady is the best way to lose it anyway....fast is not best Glad to hear your mums finally found someone to help her

Hey @@Chez Don't freak out that was exactly what my hair loss looked like (and I cried and freaked out).......but trust me it gets better!!! I was like that and it started a couple of months maybe 3 or 4 months after surgery, then it was bad for a while and now it's almost back to normal so it won't last too long. And now I am remembering that it has happened to me with every surgery that I have had (not the minor day op's but the more involved ones) I think that it has a lot to do with the anisthetic, and hormones play a massive part!!!! I removed the bit about tarot on here because after I wrote it things went quiet LOL....everyone must have thought I was a freak!!!! Loving getting back into it again and did a night of reading to the public with my class and got great feedback off of EVERYONE that I did a reading for....so it was a fantastic refresher course for me and I am loving being back into it Hope EVERYONE is going well....it's been so quiet here lately so I guess no news it good news

@@Bellarose100 How's it going?? My surgeon is Dr Ray McHenry at Lap surgery Australia. I can't tell you about the current out of pocket expenses as I paid for lapband 5 years ago and any further weight loss surgery was covered with that. From memory I was out of pocket $4,500 but I can't remember for sure. Here is a link to their site: http://lapsurgeryaustralia.com.au/

@@nerms way to go....I need to take your advice and move my ass more too lols You feel soooo much better when you do hey!!!! I have been cleaning out boxes and crates from our flood that I couldn't bring myself to go through before now. We have built the new shed and storage shelving, so now it's time to fill it It's more of an emotionally draining job but there are some big boxes that I have been hauling back and forwards and getting sorted. Lots of things like old photo's that got ruined etc so I have been strong as to get through it but I am almost there. Have gotten through about 3/4 of the stuff and because we can burn off where we are we are burning a lot of it. That feels good it's almost therapy......out with the old in with the new. Hubby is going for a new job today.....he has been at the same job for 11 years and in the same trade for about 25. He has needed a change for a while now, where he currently works treat him bad and he is owed 14 weeks annual leave because he can never take time off when he needs to Even if he takes a sick day (which he almost never does) they call him during the day to hassle him and ask him if he is better yet and can he come in Lets hope that he gets this job that tonight I will be helping him write out a resignation letter to his mean old boss I got a feeling that things are looking up New Beginnings

I know @@nerms its so hard but hang in there.....I weigh kilo's difference on different scales. Could just be that. Did you weigh in at your surgeons office before surgery?? And your right don't compare to others....I tend to do that and I am a slow loser and it does get me down but I then think well it's better to stay the same than gain!!

Thanks so much for the info @@nerms I'm unsure of the path I want to take at this stage but I have always had something to do with animals, so to continue with that just feels right.....Not sure how I would go with all the back muscles you have to use lol I weighed in today after a while of not weighing and I am down to 108.5kg Getting so much closer to my next goat of being under the 100kg's......I hope to be under that by Summer Getting to under 100kg....even if it's 99.9 I don't care. It will be the first time in 20 years that I have ever seen the scales in double figures!!!! I Can't Wait

@@Bellarose100 if you have been trying for that long imho its not going to happen on its own....you need a tool to help you. Thats just my opinion though and what I did for myself. One of the other reasons I love my surgeon so much is that he help me to understand obesity. He explained that obesity is like any other disease eg diabetes and high blood pressure. Sometimes you can do all that you can and it still doesn't work in the long run. He also explained that there are genetic factors involved and it's not always cut and dry as to say eat healthy and lose weight. He is brilliant and sympathetic to the weight loss process. I was scared to get this done and he said that he is more scared for me and my health if I don't. He promised my mum and hubby that he would take great care of me and that it was the right thing medically to do. He is so wonderful which is why I think if you want a surgeon that is going to explain things and take the time to tell you the pros and cons and help you to make the best decision possible, he is great. Not all surgeons have a great bedside manner or explain things when you are unsure but he is brilliant in my opinion. You need to find a surgeon like that who will sit down with you and go through everything so you can make the right informed decision and then when you decide maybe take your hubby with you so he understands too.

I am so happy for you that your home now @@Saltydog Before you know it you will be up and about feeling so much better. Whats the post op diet like with bypass?? @@Bellarose100 I know it can be confusing to find the right specialist. I have only had experience with Lap Surgery Australia and I have to say I think that they are fantastic!!!! I know others that have been through them and have been very happy also. Ray and Richard have been involved in obesity surgery for such a long time and they take all precautions when taking you on as a patient. They have one of their surgeons on call 24/7 every day of the year which gave me peace of mind. Anyway thats just my opinion. Also I know that your phi doesn't kick in till start of feb but....there is a build up of things that you need to do beforehand including tests etc and quite often they are busy (the good specialists are anyway) so might pay to get in early and get your referal and start your appointments quite soon. I went to my surgeon 6 months prior to make sure I was happy with him and to do all the pre testing, and I was booked in the day after my phi kicked in (I wanted to do it the day after just to be sure I was 100% covered) So really its not too early to start the ball rolling and then you will feel sure about your surgeon and have secured your date that you want rather than going later and having to wait longer as they are fully booked. Here is the link to the group that I went to but not sure where you are in Melbourne?? http://www.lapsurgeryaustralia.com.au/ They operate at knox and the valley private, and I think that they may operate in morning too and maybe berwick but I am not too sure??
