    January 2009 Exercise Challenge

Monday - 15 min treadmill, 15 min lower body strength, 30 min elliptical. I must learn to be more assertive at the gym in the strength training area - all I have to do is say "Can I work in with you?" but I keep either lurking or skipping machines altogether. Bad habit. Today - no gym - I have a meeting this evening. Thought I'd try the Wii Fit aerobics again instead.
  2. Ha! Yes! I tell that little voice to shut up every time. Changes I've noticed already: 1. I bought my first clothes from the non-plus section. 2. I sat in a restaurant booth and didn't even think "will I fit this time?" 3. I'm planning a trip this summer and for the first time in ages am not worried about fitting on the plane or in a roller coaster. 4. I am off one of my prescriptions, and the others have been cut in half. 5. I'm shopping for a bike! Me, a bike!
  3. Yeah, my doc said no straws too. I'm guessing it has to do with the amount of air, but heck, I'm already so gassy so why not! I do use straws if I have something to drink in the car and don't have a Water bottle handy. To be honest, I haven't noticed a difference.
  4. I stayed overnight and was glad I did. I was one of those who had considerable pain after the surgery. We do exist. I was free to drive after I was off the narcotic pain relief.
  5. Talk to your doctor - see if there is some good lean Protein he/she might let you have in the evening if you're having a hard time of it. Don't let it get you too down, though - lots of us had the same problem. I'm sure the doctor has heard it all.
  6. I've never actually tried to order of the kids menu or to use one of the cards. I've always either asked for a "to go" container when my food first arrives, or have ordered off the appetizer menu. This most certainly is a learning process. Eating out has become a whole new experience. So has grocery shopping - I am still learning all of my trigger foods that I need to keep out of the house.

    January 2009 Exercise Challenge

Sunday - 30 min treadmill, 20 min upper body strength, 15 min elliptical Did an extra 30 min Wii Fit step aerobics tonight to make up for dinner out last night. I was good, but not that good. Hope everyone has had a great weekend.
  8. Mollyjo - Go You! Congratulations!

    January 2009 Exercise Challenge

Sat - 15 min treadmill, 20 min lower body strength, 30 min elliptical. Tonight I brave eating out and a movie with my brother & sister-in-law. May end up doing a double shift at the gym tomorrow if I'm not careful!

    ?ctober ?dyssey 2008

Happy Birthday Anne! I got done at the gym early today and had time to go shopping before I had to pick up my daughter from dance. I fit in a size 16! It may be the only size 16 I fit in, and it may take advantage of some elastic, but darned if those pants didn't fit! So, as slow as I've been losing this month, I am still making progress! Getting closer to saying good-bye to Lane Bryant.
  11. I have hit my first plateau. Logically I know it was bound to happen, but it's still frustrating. I keep on keeping on eating correctly and exercising (off to the gym in a bit), and sooner or later it will start coming off again. I just hope it's sooner. Appt for my 3rd fill is next week. Maybe that will help. It is a struggle, isn't it? Certainly not the easy way everyone (ok, mostly skinny people) seem to think it is.

    January 2009 Exercise Challenge

Thursday - 30 min treadmill (starting to up the amt spent jogging), 20 min upper body strength, 15 min elliptical They had a "Business After Hours Open House" at the gym yesterday. It was crazy - groups of visitors all over the place. I almost felt on display - come visit the gym and watch people sweat! How exciting. Today is supposed to be an off day, but I'm sure the dogs will get a walk this evening if it stops snowing - or at least slows down a bit. Have a great day!

    Friday Weigh-in

Down 1.5 this week. It's not what I was losing, but I'll take it. I go in for an appt next Wednesday and think I'll ask for a fill although my diet and exercise haven't changed much.

    ?ctober ?dyssey 2008

It most certainly is frustrating at times. I seem to have hit my first plateau, and even though I knew logically it had to happen, I was sure disappointed when it did. I'm doing things the same as always (which is to say good but not perfect) and last month I lost 13 lbs - with Christmas thrown in - and this month I seem to have lost 2. I guess we just keep pushing on and sooner or later we'll see progress again.

    January 2009 Exercise Challenge

Wednesday - 30 minute walk with the dogs. Any attempt to jog with them was met with an extreme lack of coordination. One likes to run out front, one likes to lag behind, and then there's me stuck in the middle. No jogging with the dogs, apparently. I did supplement with 30 min of Wii Fit yoga and aerobics. I know it's not much of a workout compared to the gym, but at least I moved! TQUAD64 - hope your root canal gets to feeling better soon. Take care of yourself.

LoneStarLoser - hang in there - you can do this. Keep on making good food choices and keep yourself moving and things will fall back into line. I spent the last two weeks pretty much stuck. I kept fighting the good fight but stopped stepping on the scale - it was adding to the stress. I finally stepped on the scale this morning and had lost 2-1/2 pounds - not as much as I had been losing, but I'll take it. I go back to the clinic in a week and will probably ask for a small fill to get back on track.

Turned into a Junk Food Junkie

Must be something in the air. I had a lousy junk food week last week as well. Big Macs used to be a huge weakness. One too many commercials for their 2 for $3 special and I finally gave in. That got me started, and it was like a freight train rolling. I kept going to the gym, and am back on the right track today. Just over a week before I go back in for a check and possible fill. I hope I lose a couple of pounds before then - last week did not help in the least.

    January 2009 Exercise Challenge

    Post-Op Exercise

Hi Babe - I started with just walking for the first couple of weeks after surgery. I tried yoga - some poses I could do, others hurt my port area (those twisty ones hurt alot). After about a month, I was good to go on everything. The only thing my doctor required me to wait on was abdominal exercises - those he wanted me to wait 4 weeks before even attempting.

    Friday Weigh-in

Palm Desert sounds lovely right about now. I'm already tired of winter and have a very long way to go. I go to Gold's Gym at least 4 times/week. I do 30 min treadmill (alternating walking & jogging), 15-20 min of strength (one time upper body, next time lower), and then 15 min on the elliptical. I do crunches on an exercise ball at home, and walk the dogs. I've been considering getting a trainer at least on occasion. It might give me a little more variety. Enjoy the sunshine! I'm appropriately jealous.
