  1. I am almost 3 years post surgery and there are STILL times I forget and take a big drink, a big bite, etc. The drinks I usually don't remember in time and end up bending over so it just pours back out of me...not even a vomit - just literally like you dump out a glass of water - out it comes. But maybe 1-2 a year I forget and take a big honking bite of something...the first time I swallowed and paid DEARLY with my first stuck episode. A few times I've remembered and spit out my food going "what was I thinking?!" I guess it makes sense...40 years of eating one, I am bound to inadvertently forget. Does anyone else??

    Cream Soup on liquids post-op

I used a lot of the Lipton cup-o-soups - Cream of chicken, Tomato were my favs. Took me forever to get them in...kept having to warm them up. Good luck!

What does restriction feel like for you?

For me, restriction feels like not being able to guzzle or shovel. And it is different every day. Some days I am tight, other days I am not and there does not seem to be a rhyme or reason to it. Some foods that work one day, don't work the next. The only thing that is consistent is that morning is tight. Every morning, without fail. I drink my Breakfast or have to reheat a scrambled egg during the HOUR it takes for me to eat it, LOL. You'll know. Just take small bites because it could change and you don't want to find out after you've already eaten too much.

What kind of eating disorder do you have?

Compulsive Overeating with a touch of Binge Eating for good measure.

I love NSV's and those are two great ones!!

Hi, I am a new member!

Welcome! This is a great place to be. I had to do a 6 month weight loss plan, with monthly PCP visits. Three support group meetings. Two nutritionist meetings. Blood work. sleep study. Psychological evaluation. I recommend really taking the pre-surgery time seriously. Practice the techniques - talk and read as much as you can - soul search....all of it. Embrace the time before your surgery - it is part of the journey. Good Luck to you!
  8. In the 6 month pre-surgery diet I lost 16lbs. And disqualified myself!! But I was diagnosed with sleep apnea which got me back in. In the 2 week liquid diet I lost a pound a day - 14 in 14, just like the surgeon said I would. Good luck to you!

    Bad day

Oh - I am sorry to hear this. Try not to be discouraged....this was nothing you could have helped and they caught it before it became a really big issue. Your journey is just a little different than the norm...but that will make the ending even better! Take care.

    Is there a problem here?

I agree that is a lot going on. Honesty with yourself and your healthcare providers is essential. As far as getting bored with what you eat - I would get bored with that menu too! Visit the recipe forums, Pinterest, or local support group meetings. Promise yourself to cook once a week....and try a new recipe each time. Practice eating out (print out one of those restaurant cards). And you may not be able to exercise your lower half with a knee injury but you can still lift weights with your arms or do stretches. Make a plan - set some short term, non-scale goals. That's my advice. Good luck!
  11. Read all you can - good and bad. Listen to what others have to say - good and bad. Then make the choice for yourself. After that, ask for support or silence...their choice. Good Luck!
  12. I was banded in May 2010 and did superbly - until about half way to my goal. At that point, and as predicted, I got cocky and really just enjoyed the new sizes, energy, compliments, etc. I started to slide downhill and have recently returned to the doctor and am trying to get back on track. My slide is manageable. Is this a good place for support or is there a forum better suited to those struggling? Thanks, Luu.

    enough protein

If I can manage to get an entire Isopure down...that is 40g right there...REALLY helps with the overall Protein intake. I don't bother with anything "special" that is less than 10g. I don't want to waste my time and pouch space. Isopure, Zone Bars, and Beans (I love refried beans!) gets me to my protien goals...but it is a struggle and commitment.

    Healthy Sweet?

I have a recipe for Energy Balls - you can substitute as you see fit to accommodate your diet, but the basics are: 1 cup dried oats 1 cup toasted coconut 1/2 cup Peanut Butter 1/2 cup ground flax seed 1/2 cup chocolate chips 1/3 cup honey 1 tsp vanilla Mix, ball, eat. Bite size servings help me portion, flax seed is like a miracle nutrient, and if I am careful with the sweet stuff and use bariatric peanut butter...it is a treat I am ok with having. Good Luck!

    Just Dance with the Wii

I played for the first time New Year's Eve...I thought I was going to have a coronary! It was fun though....hubby wants to get me one, lol.
  16. Trying to get back on track.

  17. No Slip! Hooray!! :D

  18. I have been banded for two years. In the past month I have had reflux in the night that leads me to believe I will perish, LOL. I found the prescription of Pepcid I was given at surgery. It was for 450 pills with 5 refills!! Was I supposed to be taking this as a maintenance drug?!?! Uh, because I wasn't. Do you take anti-reflux maintenance meds? Thanks, Luu
  19. Thinking of you my Budman - hope you are doing well! xo

  20. Hello My Friend! I am wondering if you still visit this site....I have not in a very, very long time. I hope you are doing well, that your family is happy and healthy, and that you are as delightful as you've always been!

  21. I just wanted to share that if I have to consume one more sour, chalky chewable multi-Vitamin - I am going to puke. Probably literally. I recently found One A Day Essentials that are specifically made small, for people that have issues swallowing pills (ie: Lapbanded Me!) Green box...not to be confused with One A Day Energy....look for ESSENTIALS. Hooray!
  22. Some individuals who are comfortable with each other digress to a more "adult" form of chat. This takes place in the main Lap Band Support room. There have been requests for that chat to move to another room or have a room created specifically for that. What do you think?

    Ditto-thanks Alex!!!

    LBT AFTER DARK

After a rather heated discussion, I thought I'd do this.... I think it should move. This board has lost a lot of members because of the uncomfortable nature of the chat. I, personally, am not offended by much (Subby - shut up )....but others are and it represents poorly to new members entering chat for the first time. People forget this is an international board - "after dark" can be early morning for some members. Annnndddd....discuss!
