  1. Thank you, I neede that very much. I need to know that it's normal. I too have pants I can no longer wear. I actually lost my pants they fell to my ankles on our way back in after our anniversary dinner!! So, I know it's working...
  2. I love wii fit plus. I pick several exercise sets and do 3 of each, it's ends of being about 55 minutes of exercise. I get my heartrate up and break a sweat. I also have biggest loser for wii....that also gets me workin!
  3. I have P90X and it kicks my butt every time!! It's an awesome workout, I did the first 5 discs. Plyometrics was so hard!!! But I felt awesome after the workout. I would definitely suggest a protein shake post workout, you need to replenish! MY copy is a boot leg, if anyone has the manual of which exercised to do when/how/what order they'd like to share, let me know!! My email is alk0807@yahoo.com,
  4. We had to drop our gym membership, but I've been doing wii fit plus and biggest loser for wii at home, and I walk/jog outside. The wii is a good way to start and be able to get yourself moving!!
  5. Has anyone else found that they are losing inches, but the damn scale won't budge?? My scale appears to be stuck...and it's not just mine, it's the one at work too!!! However, my clothes are fitting better, I bought a smaller pair of pants, people are commenting on how much weight I've lost. People tell me they can see it in my belly and my face that I've lost weight. Why won't the scale move? Am I just rearranging? I eat right, and I work out, I know muscle weighs more than fat, but I'm selfish and I want to move that ticker!!!!! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. I'm thickest in the middle with no hips and no butt. Of course my butt has shrunk more, however, people are telling me "you're losing weight in the belly, I can really see it, your belly and your face." Just not fast enough...
  7. I would say no way...I'm an ER nurse and Ive seen too many people do dumb stuff and really screw themselves up!! My doc, who does this daily, had a difficult time filling me, I personally wouldn't risk it!
  8. I'm going to a super bowl party, and I have been assigned a salad or a dip, I'd like to prepare something that is lap band friendly (higher protein/lower carb) and tastes phenomenal. There are two ofus that are bansters at this party....
  9. AM proud to report, I began logging my food intake again at sparkpeople.com, and really paying attention, making sure I drink enough fluids, not drink with my meals....it's so easy to say just one sip won't hurt! Although I've not lost that pesky 5 pounds, I'm sitting steady at 227 which is 3 pounds down from that 230 mark.
  10. Thanks! I appreciate it. I didn't even think about logging it, which makes no sense because I logged in the pre surgery prep. I think you're right and that will help!!
  11. Yeah the Wii Fit and Wii fit plus have up to 300 lb weight limit for the balance board, when we first got it my husband was 297 lbs, now he sits at 280...wish it would fall off me that quick
  12. I'm glad to hear about Biggest Loser and Wii Active because I was considering both of them. I agree about Wii Fit Plus over Wii fit. I like the plus much better, more options, nice combinations!
  13. I am one month and 5 days post op. I made it successfully through the week of liquids, week of pureed foods, and week of soft foods. I'm on regular food and have not been filled, not until 2/4. I have no restriction, I have found there are foods that don't agree with me. I'm stuck. I'm not losing any more weight, at first I attributed this to going on my vacation, and not being as diligent as I could be. But I've been home almost 2 weeks, I'm really watching what I eat, I've upped my exercise. I'm not losing a pound. In fact I'm bouncing back and forth with 3-5 pounds. I bounce between 225-230. I work nights, and I try to avoid snacking, if I need something, I keep 100 calorie packs of almonds in my bag, and low fat cheese sticks. I'm obsessed with the darn scale. Which I know is part of my problem. UGH!!! Any suggestion?? I just don't know what to do! Help please!!!!
  14. My doctor doesn't want me to get my protein from liquids he wants me to get my protein through solid foods only, 3 meals a day with maybe a snack. This is really really hard!!! I eat a lot of chicken with about 7 g or protein per ounce, but I'm not getting enough protein in. I can't eat eggs. For some reason my band has rejected them and I gag, so I gave them up for now. I am trying to take a protein shake every day, in the morning. I'm still using the bariatric advantage protein shakes, that yeild 27 g of protein plus the 8 g from a cup of milk. So, 35 g of protien in a shake works out well for me. Thanks for posting this and letting me know it might just work!!
  15. I hate that little sing song voice of wii saying "you're obese" and the mii gets fatter, but honestly....I've been doing it steadily and it's nice to see the BMI going down, and the weight coming down... 53 pounds is awesome. I can't wait to get there!!!!!
  16. Thanks for that!!!
  17. My hospital gave me a "Bari Bear" it was a teddy bear that was very firm, it was a splinting pillow. Try splinting the incision sites when you cough and deep breath. Did they give you an incentive spirometer to help with your breathing. Keep doing that!! Use the GasX strips, I liked the cinnamon ones, and keep walking. I'm 1 months post surgery today and I still had gas pains in my shoulder upto last week, but I know it will get better. I actually felt worse 3-4 days out then I did the day of surgery. Best of luck to you!!!!
  18. I bought my husband wii fit plus for our anniversary and I love it!!! It has these routines, which are reallly only 7-8 minutes long, but I like how it offers "routines" like tumy torcher, leaner mii. We are considering buying the EA active. Any thoughts???
  19. I'm back down to where I was before I left. I gained a lot of water weight, most of it was totally gone after a week. I am feeling better about it now, but I was totally freaked out! I"m feeling pretty good so I really am trying to get my exercise in daily, it's hard. Have fun on your trip!!!
  20. My husband and I went on a trip last week for our honeymoon/anniversary. I was already advanced to regular foods, and I don't have any restriction. They warned me that I could gain some weight during my regular food and without restriction. I gained 5 pounds back!! So....I'm really watching everything I put in my mouth, truly focusing on drinking enough water, and getting my 60 g protein in everyday. I've also started exercising. Last night I did 30 min on wii fit, today I plan to hit the treadmill. I don't get a fill until 2/4. Has anyone else had problems with weight gain???
  21. I had my first experience being "stuck" today. I swallowed a piece of chicken, must not have chewed well enough and it was a little dry....it got stuck and I had a hell of a time. It was honestly one of the worst feelings ever. I tried to drink some water to get it down and the water came right back up...."sliming" I think it's called. A word to the wise. Chew well and eat slow!!!
  22. I would have really practiced chewing small bites and taking my time. I still find that I eat too fast and it hurts....I haven't even gotten filled yet.
  23. I was banded on 12/21 and I got on the scale two days later and had gained 6 pounds!! I cried!! Then I followed up with my doc 1 week post-op and I was down 7 pounds from the surgery day weight. I go up and down one to two pounds every couple days. I currently sit between 226 and 223, I'm ending my mushie stage and heading into soft food. The doc told me this is to be expected and to make sure I'm making good food choices, getting in my protein, following the diet to a tee. And, getting my exercise. He said I may even gain weight before my first fill because I haven't been eating anything of substance for weeks! So, I make sure I avoid all slider foods (and believe me I love my ice cream ) and follow the diet plan too a tee. I eat my 4 oz, and thats it. It will come off, I know, I've seen it happen. Best of luck to you!!!!
  24. Military Mile Marchers Maniacal Milers This is going to be awesome....100 miles in 100 days!!!!!!!! Way to go bandsters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  25. If you and your son watch a lot of TV, do wall push ups or real push ups during the comercials. I started this a few months ago and did 10 wall pushups during each commercial then worked my way up to "real" push ups. It's a great upper body work out and it's really easy to do at home....you're son can do them too!!! I also use Jillian Michaels 30 day shred, which is basic stuff...jumping jacks, jump rope, push ups, squats, all home stuff. Good luck!!!! We can all do this together!!!
