  1. Congratulation to all of you for making the decision to change your lives.... I got baned in nov. of 09'. I still don't tell everyone about my surgery. At first I did, but after you get "the look", you stop. A lot of my close friends and family know, but i don't lead with.... Hi, my name is Christina and i had Lap band surg. After a few time you get "the look" you start to wonder if you are the lazy fat person they talk about. It's the "you too the easy way out look"..... EASY... by no means is this EASY.... I work every day watching what I eat, and exercising to lose what i have. What i would give for a BIG JUICY cheese BURGER AND FRENCH FRIES..... OR A SLICE OF pizza.... So now, when people who have not seen me in a while say..... WOW you look great, how did you do it..... I say ..... I watch what i eat and i exercise 4-5 times a week and i walk 3-4 times for 20-30 min everyday. it's not a lie.... i just don't tell them i had WLS. The sad thing is..... i want to shout it from every roof top...... Lap band surg... saved my life and my marriage..... and i would do it again tomorrow if i had too. But i can't because of the narrow minded people in the world. Love you all and keep up the great work
  2. Me.... too..... I agree with Want2beme my coach told me some thing one day.... If you want to feel pretty, hang around people who are ugly. So I guess someone told your friend..... If you want to feel skinny and have more self confidence hang around people fatter than you... with no self confidence. I think this is her issue.... I would not take her back as a friend. Your better off with out her "drama" Congrats on your success, keep up the great work.
  3. I guess like everything else in life... there are pros and cons. For me, I know about the sleeve, by friend had it done. She has had great success with it. This is what i can say about the band (for me). I love the fact that my stomach is still in one piece and having time to adjust with my band as for as eating habits (as i got fills). But on the other hand, it is a pain in the butt to have to go back and forth to get filled and then unfilled (never got unfilled) till you get the "sweet spot". All in all i don't see how you could go wrong with either. You have taken the first step to a new heather you and you should be proud. Life will never be the same. Banded 11-10-09: Beginning weight 223, now 152 as of this morning. 71lbs gone FOREVER.... Good luck
  4. Banded 11/10/09. Lost 70lbs total. So same weight for the past 4 months.... would love to go get fill, but i now would have to pay $235. Plus year blood work. I feel like i can eat more and have found myself grazing more.... I still have about 33 more to lose to be at my personal goal of 120. I know i need to up my intensity at the gym... I try and go at least 3-4 times a week. I walk my dog 3-4 times a day. Before I leave for work, come home at lunch, at 4 when i get off and again at 9. Fat and Happy.... my friend did the same thing and it was because her band slipped. She went to my dr and he was able to fix it. Now she is doing great.
  5. Welcome to the club....Tomorrow is the start of the New You..... i wish you all the luck in the world. A good support system is very very important. My husband and family are wonderful also. Be prepared for some people to not be as supportive as others. Especially your "other fat friends". Your true friends will stick by your side and encourage you all the way. Wear comfortable clothes. I wore my pj's and a sports bra. socks... don't for get socks. Personal items... And don't forget to bring your positive attitude....
  6. Banded 11/10/09 in Louisiana... was 223lbs now 153lbs... size 18 now 8-10.... the "girls" won't go away..... was a 44G now 38H...
  7. mix... one teaspoon of meat tenderizer , one teaspoon of water and one teaspoon of lemon juice...(real of constrained). Drink fast.. stay by bathroom. repeat if does not work the first time, then drink some water
  8. Way to go... Melzie.. Keep up the great work. I love Zumba. My newest love... Body Combat. OMG, i was sore for two days. Best way to get out aggression. Try it if you get a chance.
  9. OMG.... finally someone on here that has the problem i have ..... i wear a 38H... currently i wear my reg. bra, a sports bra and the "liner" bra that is built into the workout tank (all at the same time).... it is so uncomfortable. I would love to start running, but my breast hurt so bad the next day. I feel like i got punched on each side... I'm going to look up the web site you recommended. Did you buy your size or did you go down a size? Thanks
  10. I'm a member at the YMCA, Started Zumba all most a year ago.... I LOVE IT!!!! Trouble now is so does everyone else. The class has gotten so big. It really is for everyone... fat, skinny, old and young..... Our Y offers a "learning" class on Thursday. they do the same dance two or three time so you can get the hang of it. But, for first timers.... I concur with the others, go to the front so you can see (off to the side). Concentrate on the feet first, then include the hand/arm movements. Don't worry about doing it right... the whole object is to just move. Let the instructor know you are new and they will watch out for you. We have one lady that knows none of the moves (she started before me), but she goes to the back of the class and does her own thing... i think that's great. My problem now is, I have lost 70lbs and i want MORE. I have about 20lbs or so left ... I need to start some hard core training and don't have the motivation.
  11. My dr. allowed us to have Soup. Could not eat the chunky stuff in side the soup (potatoes, carrots... etc). My saving grace was the Broccoli soup at Apple Bee's. Vanilla boost, very cold and drink it fast. But i'm not going to lie and say i didn't cheat, because i did. I didn't go out and eat a steak, but I did eat a few bites of chicken. I was on vacation on my "two week" diet. So all week at every restaurant it was "i think i'll have the SOUP".......But on a positive note i did lose 8lbs. If you have to eat, find some thing low in sugar. The reason for the diet is to make the liver softer so it can be moved out of the way with minimal effort for the dr. I know people who had not diet before at all.... Stay strong.... you can do it, don't give up. This is so worth it. Two weeks of starving to lose 70lbs in a year was worth it all....... Banded 11/10/09
  12. Hey Leslie, Banded Nov. 10, 2009. Best decisions of my life.... Starting weight 223, now 153. Paints size 18, now 8-10. Started exercising about 4 months after i go my band and the weight started to come off faster. Fixing to start a very intense work out plan hoping to lose the last 20 and tone up the mid-section.... But if i never lose another pound, i am so happy.
  13. Since the weight-loss my husband and i do go "out" more and I do drink. I stay away from the drinks with soda in them. I use to drink Crown and 7, but now.... heck.... i just drink it on the rocks. Be careful with how much you drink, I do feel it faster than before. I use to drink 3-4 crowns and a couple shots, then i would feel it, now 2 drinks and i feel it. Went out for Mardi Gras and drank way too much, but had no stomach problems at all.... Good luck

No, but to be honest... i could have gone home after surgery.... Banded: Nov. 10, 2009
  16. The smile on your pretty face speaks volumes...... Keep up the great work.
  17. you have lost 100lbs in three months.... WOW that is incredible. Keep up the great work. One of my biggest AHA moments is when i noticed my thighs didn't rub when I walked.... OMG I was so happy. My goal was to get in a single digit paints and i did... from size 18 to 8. P.S. the smile on your pretty face speaks volumes......
  18. Don't beat your self up.... your doing fine. I did the same thing. At first I felt hardly any restriction and had to monitor my food in take. Dinning out was hard for me, so I started portioning out what I know to be about what I should eat and put the rest away. I was banded nov. 10, 2009 and until March I had only lost 40lb pounds. But then I started exercising and the rest just came off. I started at 223 and now I weigh 153. It has taking me a year and three months. Remember every ones weight loss journey is different. Embrace the pounds you have lost.....
  19. Banded Nov. 10th. How is everyone doing? Had my first fill on Dec. 10th and don't really feel that different. Anyone have their second fill yet. Any tips. I was to go back on the 23rd but changed it to Jan. 7th.
  20. Got my band Nov. 10..... down 28lbs don't worry, as soon as you start the pre-op diet the pounds will come off. I lost 14 in 14 days. No I didn't stick to the diet, I did't cheat twice. I was so hungry. Keep up the good work and you will be glad you did this. Remember to be around possitive people.
  21. I bought that yesterday. From HSN of all places, I had never bought anything from them before. I should get it on Monday or Tuesday. My son plays on his friends so I'm hoping he can help me understand and set it up. I got my band Nov. 10 and doing just fine. I took the large band which I didn't think I would. Had my first fill on Dec. 10th. Didn't really feel all that different. I was to go on the 23rd, but I'm going to wait till after the christmas holidays. I'm still losing about 2-3 lbs a week which is great for me. I'm down 28lbs. Did the 2-week pre diet and lost most of that. Stick to it as much as you can. I can't lie and tell you that I didn't cheat, because I did twice. My doctor said when he went in my liver looked fine. I really stuck to it the last 5 days. I'm really shocked that he brought you all in as a group. HIPPA laws are pretty strick about people knowing others business. My dr. was wonderful, very understanding. Were are you from? I live in South Louisiana. I only come on line a couple times a week, so if you don't hear from me, I'll catch up.

I got my band Nov. 10 and went for my first fill Thursday and I too do not feel restricted. I have been watching what I eat, but I have to admit that i have not been drinking enough. I have only lost 20lbs. and feel that I should be losing more.

WOW you are doing GREAT!! I hope my sucess is as good. this is why i'm choosing not to tell my family. i'm from the south and everything is food related. i have only shared my choice with very few people that i know will be supportive. I think ice cream will be hard for me too. Had my gllbladder out a few years ago. Easy surg., not bad at all. Good luck
