There’s a place to give stuff away to other WLS patients? I’d love this. As I go down in sizes, I don’t want to have to buy several new wardrobes or clothes I’ll only wear once so finding a place to “trade” clothing would be great. What is that place?

My SX office has a support group and fb page. I normally post there and someone always takes them

Hi. I’m new here. Finally decided I’m ready to get the sleeve. I don’t want to jump through insurance hoops. I’m 39 bmi and no health issues so it’s very doubtful insurance would even cover it. Regarding self pay where have people gone that have great self pay surgeries? I was ready to schedule in Tijuana with Dr Altamiranos then I came across some info saying to steer clear so I’m back at square one. Any Mexico or Vegas places you have used that are great?

so if you were a 40 bmi would they cover?

It’s not so much the size on the tag that bothers me but the frustration about choosing which is the correct size to buy & avoiding the return process. I hate online shopping.

Aust sizes are two more than US so a US 0 is an Aust 4, a US 10 is an Aust 14.

Oh & yes your husband is the best @BayougirlMrsS. 🙂. I’ve heard some people put clear contact or sticky tape on the soles of their Louboutins & some brands put on a clear peel off protection on the soles but it makes them slippery to wear. I tried to walk very carefully with mine but ended up just giving up & letting them get scuffed. Still sad though.

I would so wear both those. I told hubby last night, they are shoes that i will Never get rid of and so if they get scuffed, so be it. I'm going to wear the with sasssss and pride...... and hope i don't fall.... hehehe
There are NO stores that sells them in MS. and all the stores we have gone too didn't sell them..... but when we went to Hawaii two weeks ago...... there they were size 36..... Needless to say i carried them on the plane.

  6. If you can not tell anyone....... GO THAT ROUTE!!!! I had the lapband in 2009 and everyone knew... of course, everyone also had an opinion on what they thought I SHOULD DO. I got the "lap band is the easy way out".... or "someone they knew, knew someone who died"... "it won't work".... blah blah blah. It did work and I lost 89lbs. So when it had to be removed....... again, I told everyone it was gone.
Here's where it changed..... from 2017-2019 I put back 30lbs of what i lost. I had divorced (26 years of marriage), moved states, changed jobs, got into a new relationship (married 2019). No one here knows I at one time had WLS..... So when I told them I was going on a diet for my upcoming wedding and I was working out.... No one gave it a second thought. So about 3 months before Sleeve I told everyone I developed a "hernia" and needed SX to fix it. Day of SX comes (Wednesday, back to work on Monday), and Dr goes in, does the sleeve and fixed an actual HH that I didn't know I had........ Slam dunk. So the first year of weight loss was explained this way. After losing weight for the wedding I just decided to keep going. No one ever asks further questions after............. I had HH SX. I'm now 50lbs lighter and so happy.

So tell no one and I guarantee you will be happier for it. But, remember if you tell even one person outside your home (even family)........ everyone will know. People love to gossip and when you start to lose, there will be that one jealous person that will say something.

Just a little vent about clothing sizes. Spotted a pair of slouchy drop crotch pants on sale online. What size will I need I wondered? Got out out my handy dandy dress maker’s tape measure & checked the size guide. OMG it said I was a MED/large or a size 14 (US 10/12). WTF!?! 😱 Is this the children’s size guide I thought but even if it was I’m only a size 10/12 in children’s wear. Nope, definitely adult sizing.

It’s an Aust company I’ve bought from before (XXS fitted knit dress & XS sweaters) just not pants. All my pants are Aust size 4 or 6. How could I be a size 14 in their eyes?

I know I had some dessert at Christmas but not enough to cause a weight gain of 4 clothing sizes. 😉

    GRRRR!

Sizes are crazy in the US. I can be anywhere from a 0-4..... Which i think in Aus sizes is 6-10 i think. Best thing to do...... cut the dang tag off and just enjoy the fit

  8. I know everyone thinks they have the best husband..... but I truly do. Valentines Day and I get these.... These have been my dream shoes forever. They have already started to "earn" their cost..... hehehehe

Headed to dinner tonight with a new pair of shoes.... now to figure out how to not scuff up those red bottoms to bad.

No and someways I do feel my size but like I stated before I’m still shocked! Like when I take my jeans out of the dryer and I’m folding my clothes I think they’re my eight-year-old granddaughters I only wear a size 0 in jeans now which I thought I never would. And I look at them and hold them up and go how am I going to get my big butt in there ha ha I guess we’re always going to have a big girl brain fat girl brain we got little fat girls on all of our sells little pictures of us so that’s just it we’re in print it with a certain DNA and that’s the way it goes nurture nature right? And yeah I’ve been having a really hard time finding anybody to be significant worth for any kind of a lasting time.

I feel the same way.... I hold up pants and think.... How in the hell does this fit. There is no way i'm that small. It's body dysmorphia....

Now that you are logging your intake, can you post a sample of what you eat in a day? Between all of the folks here, there are decades of experience with post-bariatric weight loss. Maybe someone will be able to spot something that could be derailing your progress.

    100% agree.

But whats the point if you are miserable 🙁and for some its given them reflux Personally I am physically hungry all the time I cant seem to get that feeling of satisfaction. Plus the reflux

what is your process? If you had to write a step for step, what would it look like?
Exp: 1. remove one egg from fridge. 2. put one tsp of oil/butter in pan. 3. scramble egg with pepper. 4 pour egg into pan...... you get the point. There has to be some disconnect going on. I know mine was not portioning/weighing my food... I was "eye-balling" it. Well, my visual is not accurate at all. What looks "normal" to me is not, its much more. When I took the time to really weigh what I was eating I was so shocked. Also, I have to wait 30 min after my last bite. As soon as i drink..... I'm hungry again. I have a set plan for the day and even if i am hungry, i stick to it.....
    Breakfast at 830-9
    snack at 1030-11
    lunch 12-1
    snack at 3-330
dinner 6-630............that's it end of the day and no more food, no matter what. I have purged my home/car/office of all items that are "junk". I'm a person that if i know it's there, I NEED IT!!! So, if it's not there i can't. Can't eat what you don't buy.

Looking stunning in rib dress and boots! Heals especially sexy. Concert looks amazing!!! So glad you were finally able to attend. With new spikes - we decided not to attend a David Foster concert tonight. This was going to be my outfit. Just kidding! These are doll clothes my seamstress crafts and sells. They are just adorable. Are you a red head now? Send a better glimpse?!

    IMG_0922.jpeg

how cute are those.... such talent.

No, not a red head.... I think it was just the light in the office. My mom would kill me (even at 53) she is not a "red hair" fan. I love red hear.
    The concert was amazing.
I finally got my first vax....

  13. I'm pretty sure this person just came here to stir the pot. But if he/she didn't......... shame on them.

I feel no pity for them.... the very first post was how he/she was not following the plan... and "guessed" that he/she was eating 800. If you are "guessing" 800 you can bet it's more like 1600.......but he/she won't log food to see what he/she is actually eating....

If you don’t want to log your food everyday perhaps you could do it for a few weeks and then just check in every once In a while to make sure you are on track. I know that I only cook so many meals and I have it in my head how many calories it is for one slice of cauliflower crust pizza or one burrito or whatever. I have a shake for breakfast and a P3 Protein pack for lunch most days so I know how many calories I am allowed for dinner and have figured out what I can have that is on plan so I don’t have to count calories every day. I also have Snacks that are around 100 calories (some are 80 some 120 but it averages out) so I just have to keep track of how many I have in a day not the actual calories. Maybe something like this would work for you. I hate to see you wasting time just being disappointed and depressed because your hunger will come back eventually and it will no longer be as easy to make the good food choices.I know that you are only eating low calorie food but you can still overeat even if it’s the right things. But you don’t necessarily have to count calories daily, Just figure out how many calories you are allowed for each meal and snack and then the first time you have the meal you have to measure and calorie count but from then on you know whether it’s on plan or not and you can either have it or you can’t unless you skip a snack or whatever. Just try a version of this that works for you.

I agree. When i lost my band and went 2.5 years without wls I thought I could just do it without help. I was wrong. I started gaining and before i knew it I had put back 30lbs. In my mind (overweight brain) I wasn't "eating that bad" but when I started going back to logging my food, I was clearly eating badly. I was at 1000 cal before lunch. This is why logging is so important. I know I didn't realize how much I was actually eating. If the OP would just try logging everything and being honest 100% for one week he/she would see. But honestly he/she seem like they don't want to put in any work to make the SX successful.

  15. Man you go away for a bit and everyone gets sexier and sexier.....

We ventured out to Atl Nov. 11th to see The Rolling Stones.... OMG it was amazing. We were scheduled to go a couple of years ago, but it was postponed due to a Hurricane.... Then Covid, so we didn't get to go. This time the Mr. made it happen. We flew to ATL for the night and flew back the next day.

He has been online shopping and I told him he needs to stop.... (but not really). He bought this little "ribbed" number and i saw that you all posted your ribbed dresses..... so here's mine. I couldn't get a good shot of dress and boots so they are separate. The boots were bought a few years ago when we first started dating and they fit so much nicer now. The boots are black, don't know why they look gray.

My dr told me that alcohol was a serious no-go post op. She literally described it as becoming as addictive as CRACK because of the way the body processes it (post bypass)... was she exaggerating?

    yes she was........ but.....

Addiction transfer, or cross addiction, after bariatric surgery occurs when individuals trade compulsive eating for other compulsive behaviors. There is also strong evidence of a biological reason for cross addiction.

Studies show various forms of transfer addiction in up to 30 percent of patients who have had bariatric surgery. For these patients, food is no longer being a source of comfort, distraction, reward or escape. Other behaviors or substances now substitute for eating, and can become problematic.

“Process addictions,” such as gambling, shopping and sex addiction can occur, as well as addictions to alcohol and other drug abuse. In some cases, after a period of initial remission, food addiction can reoccur.

I drink, but it's never to an excess and i rarely ever have anything with bubbles in it.
