    Self rant

People ask me a lot... how are you able to eat on the same candy for 2 weeks (or more). Everyone has cravings. It's how you will learn to handle them. This is what I do. Not saying it for everyone, but it works for me. Ice Cream, I buy the party cups and i keep them in the freezer out in the garage. When i have a craving i have one. And the party cups only come in few flavors... so that's a plus. Chips, i buy the small single servings. Most of the time i can only eat a few... then i crush them and throw them in the trash. If i have to buy the large bag, i count out 4-6 chips, reseal the bag (foodsaver) and put it back. Then i eat small bite of one chip... (like a mouse eating cheese). Candy, i buy the best i can afford. I break off one square, wrap it back up and put in the fridge. I then take that square and cut into 4. Put one 1/4 in my mouth and let it melt.... I never chew it. By the time i'm down to my last 1/4 i'm good. I think its a matter of taking a small amount and slowly eating..... and immediately putting away the rest. I never never never leave it out.... the chances of me going back are too great. Out of sight out of mind.

    Self rant

I want to say, it sounds like you were just having a day.... everyone has them. Don't be too hard on yourself. Today is a new day a new beginning. Like i use to tell my kids..... Go out there and make good choices. 50 is just a number. i turned 52 july 29.... Go get some dry erasers and start writing words of encouragement on your bathroom mirror...(it wipes right off). Today my words were.... Your not where you want to be, but its better than where you were. Even my husband gets in on it and leaves me messages.

    Don't it irks you when...

I knew it wasn't the right thing to say.... but, she was just the nastiest person... always talking about people. It was a case of Karma that bit her.... Now she is very large... and not that i would wish that on anyone. i never understood how someone could be that hateful, but she was and still is.

    Don't it irks you when...

I worked with this girl... Cindy (yes her real name). She was always saying stuff about fat people... I at the time was 5'2" and 232lbs... She was very thin and would never wear the same outfit twice. She always dressed and looked very nice. Very much a "keep up with the jones". I never said anything to her. I moved departments... I couldn't stand to even look at her. Anyway, fast forward to 2009 i had the lapband done. My WL was slow and she even made the remark... didn't you have "fat surgery"... i never answered her..... TILL ONE DAY.... I had left the company so i had not seen her in about a year... I had lost 60lbs. She came up to me and said... Hey, how much have you lost.....???? I should say that in that year she had put on a lot of weight..... And i know it wasn't right.... but.... after she asked me that i just looked at her and said... 60lbs, but it looks like you found them... and walked away.

    Is anyone else as disappointed...

When i was banded in 2009 I was considered severely obese. I, like you, had been very blessed and have not had any health problems. Blood pressure is always normal, no diabetes, and my cholesterol is always on the very low end. I have never been on any medications for anything like that. Still like that. My last set of blood work from my WLS and GYN was perfect. 2009 SW was 232lbs 5'2"... 2017 band removal 143lbs..... 8/28/2019 sleeved 173lbs. today 120lbs. I averaged about 4lbs a month.... remember sometimes slow and steady wins the race.

@Luv2cruz Unless i read over it, No one has asked a few very important questions. What is your height? What was your beginning weight? Are you logging your food? Are you exercising? What does your diet look like on a daily bases? The reason, if you have less to lose, you will tend to lose a little slower. A person who had 300lbs to lose will lose it faster that say a person that has 100lbs to lose. My story is a little different than some.... but anywho.... After being here for over 10 years i have seen and read many different stories. I have also experienced it with some very close friends. I've had friends like myself who had the band (lost 2017 gained 30lbs). Lost there band and have gained it back or revised to a different WLS. Some with success and some without. I have a few that had only the sleeve and either never lost or gained it all back. I've even had a few that had GB and either gained some or all of the weight back. I do have a few friends that had the band and have kept their weight off for over 10 years. The point is.... ALL WLS have their goods and bads. Ups and downs. It's how you as a person handles YOUR journey. (ok just read your last post, so i'm taking out this part) I would start at the begging, look within yourself. Maybe seek a counselor (it's helping me). Otherwise, i would start tracking your food (if you aren't already). Get yourself a good exercise program (even if it's just walking more and faster). I wish i had journaled.... I write myself inspiring quotes on my bathroom mirror. I know you didn't want to hear it, but its true and hard not to do... But, try to not compare yourself to others. I compared myself to others all the time, then someone years ago told me that..... So now i have on my mirror..... Envy is the thief of happiness. I wish you only good thoughts on your journey.

    Band to Sleeve success...anyone?!?

worked for me..... I was a successful band-member for nearly 8 years. Never had any issues till march 2017. I got a bad stomach virus and threw up violently and slipped my band. I was my worst fear with the band.... LOSING HER. So i went on through life... divorce, dating, meeting someone else, moving out of state..... 2017-2019 on my own with no WLS. For years i tried to get a revision and no dr. would do it. My insurance didn't cover the band removal nor a revision. But i still looked ... same answer over and over.. "you don't weight enough". Over those years I gained 30lbs back. No matter what i did and menopause hit and wow... Now i've gained 30lbs. I was going to go to Mex to have the MGB. But as luck would have it, i found a dr 10 min from my work that did WLS. Went in for a consult and he agreed to do the sleeve..... That was nearly 1 year ago. 11/10/2009 band SW: 232lbs. size 18-20 pants, shirt 2xl (or bigger), bra 44G, shoe 7-7.5 (143lbs) 3/23/2017 band removal: 143lbs. size 6, shirt large, bra 34H, shoe 6.5-7 8/28/2019 sleeved: 173lbs. size 10, shirt large, bra 36G/H, shoe 7 (14k out of pocket) Today: 120lbs, size 0, shirt sm/med, bra 32FF, shoe 6-6.5

Dr. Duc Vuong is my new (bariatric) spiritual guide

love him.... Started watching his vids when i started doing more research on a revision. He was direct and to the point. He says in most of his vids that he is no longer doing SX, but i think his approach is still valid. I watch nearly all of his post... not so much on the last few because it really deals more with covid.... but still some great information.
  11. not really. I went from a 34H to a 32FF. I'm just lucky. You could try butterfly exercise with dumb bells.
  12. @S@ssen@ch has some great advice. I was going to ask if you were flying alone or with someone. How are you getting home from the airport? How do you normally handle pain meds? Make sure you have your home set up for your return. Water, jello, protein drinks, etc. Have a back up plan for once you get home. Do you have a doctor set up in your new town yet? If not, do so. Have your WLS recommend someone local in case you need them, someone he can work with. You don't want to get back home and have no one to turn too. I also took stole softeners for about a week before. constipation is reallllll. I would also make sure the airport knows you will need assistance getting on and off the plan. Have them wheel you around and take your bag. Travel as lite as you can. I wouldn't worry about makeup and such. My bag consisted of: my meds, hair brush, toothbrush & paste, deodorant, clean underwear, loose pants and top (two each), slip on shoes (one pair), socks, small blanket (throw). I also would only carry my wallet if you can... toting around a heavy purse is not fun. I know this will sound crazy, but make a list of who to call in case of ER and have it in your wallet on a piece of color paper... like bright pink, green, yellow... On it also write that you just had gastric surgery and your sx phone #. Set up your ER # on your phone.

Help I cheated on preop diet.

If you put 10 WL surgeons in a room..... i would venture to say.... All 10 would have something different they require of their patients. With the band (2009) i was required to the the 1 week of full liquids and 1 week of clear liquids.... the PO i had to do it in reverse... 1 week of clear (so two week total), 1 week full, 1 week puree, 1 week soft to regular. Sleeve (8/28/2019) I only had to do one week clear post op..... and then the same as above PO. I would say do the diet your dr. gave too you. Some people choose to go start before the date give and i still don't know why. This was soooooo hard. But like everything...This to shall pass. It was hard.... but so worth it.

    Weight gain.....

First.... I know this is the Rants & Raves section. This is why i'm posting it here!!!! Trust that i know i will get flack for this.... I'm confused about how people are gaining weight during the Covid..... Shouldn't people be losing? It would seem to me that with people not having to get up and go to work they would have more time to dedicate to there diet and exercise. People have been complaining for YEARSSSSS that they don't have time to plan their meal and don't have time to exercise. What about now? What's stopping people from either... growing there on veggies or buying them and having more time to food prep. Also, why aren't people taking the time to exercise more.... walking, running, yoga, stretching..... repurposing those milk jugs and filling them with water/sand. Grab those resistance bands and use them or the exercise equipment you are using as a clothes hanger....... I just really don't understand. Not trying to be mean.... i really just don't understand. There is no way i'm the only person that has these questions.
