    non supportive spouse

as much as I would love support, I do not and have never sat around and cried about being fat. I've been fat now for 11 years at a fairly steady weight. I refuse to let this effect my outlook on life. I still do the same things as when I was thin, ride my horses, dance, etc As for going out I still get hit on and never felt unattractive... I'm just saddled with a jerk of a man....
  3. After being denied 2 weeks ago I got a second letter approving me, I have a date and I'm happy!!!
  4. Any one banded there?

    non supportive spouse

my boyfriend of 15 years is also non supportive, he does fear in his head that I might leave him. The reality is I might, not just because I'm thin. I've left him fat. But because he's a big ASS. Me being fat has nothing to do with that. I have no real support either. My mom who lives with us is jealous, my kids are really to young.
  7. I'm in ! I'm 31 5' tall, weigh 220 and am getting banded June 7! So excited.....

been waiting for over three weeks for approval, called insurance to check, the said it's with the care coordinators, could be up to 30 days, ugh, just want approval!

    I don't want to wait

I felt the same way 6 1/2 months ago,, but it really did pass very quickly. I am now waiting for insurance approval, THIS wait is killing me. It's been 3 weeks now and I'm getting very impatient!

    Sleep Study Cost for selfpay

$8k sleep study???!!! maybe I shold be getting paid more, like $500/hour......no, I've never seen a test cost that much ever. Price will vary especially with self pay patients. Most insurance will cover sleep study with a proper prescription. BCBS is one huge company so coverage will vary , but now-a-days almost every BCBS covers at least a portion. I would find anoth lab as well. Even a decade ago, I've never seen anyone pay more than $1500 cash for a sleep study. insurances are billed diffrently. disclaimer: I am a sleep professional and have been in this industry for over 13 years. I am lab manager for a prestigious medical center and it's satellite office....
  11. wow, sounds like a few of you need to go to your DME companies and be fitted correctly. they should take the time to show you exactly how to put everything on.... best nasal pillow for comfort and ease...hands down Swift LT, they come for woman and men and I end up with many patients on this one. Swift FX will be available soon ( it is available in some places) and is supposed to be PHENOMINALLY comfortable. I demo'd a new mask at a sleep confrence today. Called EastyFit from Devilbiss Healthcare. Very comfy and durable mask. Inovative headgear. Seems like it will be great to sleep with as the arm that connects to the pap tubing has a unique swivel valve. No more tugging on you face! Also the exhalation ports are set inside silicone so there is no more air blowing in your partners face. This new mask impressed even an old sleep tech like me
  12. I generally tell people to take for surgery. If the aneasthesiologist feels that maintaining your airway and o2 levels during recovery are an issue, they will make you wear it. Many people have sleep apnea worse during certain sleep stages, you may not have achieved those stages during your surgery and your oxygen levels were normalized

The many faces of Sleep Apnea

I do sleep testing for a living and always tell my patients: You are so much sexier to your significant other with your mask on. It's not very sexy listening to you snort, snore, gasp choke, and moan. Or to wonder if your next apnea will be the last breath you never take!
  14. the docs take into consideration "lab effect" we all realize that u are not at home. However being at home or somewhere else does not effect how your body works mechanically. Most patients don't love their cpap, especially at first. It does take time. I fyou can wear it for a few hours a night to begin with, do just that. Anytime your brain is getting adequate oxygenation. It's a good thing! Then build up.. As far as a mask fitting goes, try EVERY mask you can get your hands on. Respironics Comfort Gel and Fisher Paykell Zest and Zest plus have a good compliance rate because they are comfortable to wear. I personally love the Zest for my patients...
  15. ok ya'll. I am a sleep professional and have been in a polysomnographer for 13 years. I will help with any questions... FYI, oral appliance doesn't work for most people...it generally resolves snores but doesn't touch the apneaic events as that happens lower in the throat or chest depending on you type of sleep apnea or sleep disordered breathing...
  16. :rolleyes2:my primary is very resistant to me having this done, I just circumvented him all together and went straight to the bariatric center

  18. Done with my six month nut visits. Waiting on insurance approval now! Cross ur fingers that United Healthcare shakes their ass!
  19. Hello everyone, I am have my 5 visit in my required 6 month dietician diet next Tuesday. While the time has really passed very quickly, I am anxious to get banded ! I think I'm going to start a modified "Slim-Fast" type diet while I wait. I have only lost about 2 lbs thus far (dietician did not want me to try and lose to much before approval). I figure I have a month left before approval process begins, so I want to get started! Losing weight has never been a problem, keeping it off is the issue. I am diabetic and anxious to get off the meds... Which leads me to a few questions.. My PCP is not in favor of the LapBand at all, I'd like to switch docs but hate going through the process, I'd like to find a doc that will not have a problem later on helping me through the approval of tmmy tuck, any suggestions? Anyone else get banded at DayOne in Chicago? That's where I'm going , with Dr. Elli.... Am just south of Chicago and would love to talk to others here! thanks for reading my book! Oh I do sleep studies for a living , so if anyone has any apnea or sleep related questions , just ask
