  1. No you keep the band but have your restriction loosened a little after you reach goal. Don't know about the funding thing but you do keep your band. It will help you keep off your weight!! Hugs!!!
  2. I am chronically constipated since I was banded. I get relief from Senna tea or Smooth Move. It is all natural and works pretty fast. I agree with the poster who says you are not constipated if you are going every day. I am lucky to get two a week!! Lol!! be very careful with laxatives. I had a girl friend who's Mom gave her exlax as a child because she believed she believed you were sick if you didn't have a bowel movement every day. She can not have a BM without Exlax to this day. Not a good thing at all...... Hugs!!!!

    Sleepy

I like Rockstar Zero!! I wouldn't drink the whole thing though, it will keep you awake when you want to sleep too!!!
  4. I am not surprised to hear this, many doctors have issues with control. I am a self educated diabetic and I always love the comments I get from doctors. They love my numbers when I get blood work, but they are often itching to get their agenda in there somewhere. I go to the doctor because I need them to write me a prescription for insulin, but I always dread it... Unfortunately, even Canada needs a prescription now. It used to be over the counter up there and much cheaper. Oh well it is what it is.... You should get you information where ever you can find it. Other patients are excellent sources of information, however you should stay away from negative posts. They can be discouraging. I just don't read them and I am doing the best I have ever done. Hugs to you!!!
  5. Actually 20 lbs in 6 weeks is amazing!! Congratulations!!!
  6. I get a little occasionally, but only occasionally. I can eat and drink so I don't plan to get an unfill. It is uncomfortable. I get a drink of water and chew up a tums and it seems to fix it when it happens. You do sound too tight so I would definitely get a slight unfill!! Hugs!!!
  7. I also drink beer, and wine once a week. Lol not both, I do have one or the other. I do not have trouble with the bubbles, but I do pour it into a glass which releases a lot of the bubbles. I never use a straw because it bothers me. It is impossible to drink from a straw and not swollow air so I guess that is what the problem is. Of course I don't drink Beer from a straw anyway, but sometimes I drink a diet coke and wish I could use a straw. Nope, I just have to drink it from a cup.... Hugs!!!!

2 cc in band and too tight?

I have a 4cc band and I have 2.75cc in it. I am at my sweet spot. My daughter also has a 4cc band and is way too tight at 1.5cc. It may help to know what size your band is. It does not really matter though, if you are too tight, you are too tight. You sound too tight for sure. It will be fine if you get just a little taken out... Hugs!!!!

    Unfill before Trip??

I agree with the poster who suggested that this is how we got where we are in the first place. "I'm on a diet but I plan to have fun just this once"!! Sound familiar? I think you are over worrying the situation. You will be fine. Just remember to chew chew chew. Especially the first two bites. The flight will not be a problem!! Hugs!!!
  10. I was a diet coke addict also and I also did not have a pre-op diet. I drank the diet coke in the resturant the day before the surgery and then to my surprise, I did not want it any more after surgery. I am 8 mo out now, and I do drink one once in a while, usually only in the car when I am traveling. It keeps me awake. Like another poster said though, I can not drink it through a straw. That does hurt. I drink the fountain style diet coke that is poured over ice. Some of the carbonation comes out when you do that. There is one more incentive to give it up that no one else here stated. People who drink pop, diet or regular, weigh significantly more than non pop drinkers. I am not sure why but I suspect that the sweetness of the diet soda whets our appetite for other sweets. I drink Diet Green Tea by Lipton now and I can't seem to find any other thing that I like better. I don't drink it much but if I am sick of water, I indulge in one of those. Each of us has to figure out what works, but education is the key!!! Hugs!!!!
  11. Her boyfriend made her an obsene amount of food for Mothers day breakfast in bed. 10 eggs, 8 sausage patties, and I forgot how many buscuits. Then gave her a box of Godiva chocolate that she proceeded to eat!!!
  12. Anyone see entertainment tonight? I have seen everything now. A woman wants to be the fattest Mom in America and her goal is 1000lbs. She is in the 600s now. OMG!!!!!
  13. Because I had a lot of, at that time, unrealistic ideas about my weight, I decided that when my first child was born, I would see to it that she never tasted sugar. I decided sugar was my whole problem so I was going to fix it in my child and not allow her to ever taste it. I figured that if I did that, she would not have to endure the weight issues I had. Let me tell you this was not easy. I had to tell the baby sitter, her relatives, etc, I am sure I made a total ass of myself over it. I did not starve her I only with held sugar. When she was two years old, my mother sent her Easter candy in the mail. I knew I could just throw it away, but instead, I felt guilty because I loved my mother, and I wanted my daughter to love her too. I gave her the candy. In my mind, I was going to only give it to her this once. However, she instantly loved it (go figure) and became obsessed with it. I created the very problem I was trying to avoid. In her adult life, my daughter has a much more severe weight problem than I have ever had. She is now banded and is still struggling, but she has lost 95 lbs. Your Mom thought she was fixing herself by fixing you. Too bad she didn't figure it out before she created the problem she was trying to avoid. In later years, I had to figure it out a few more times, with other issues. I didn't think my kids should watch R rated movies, but I created a larger than normal interest in them by forbiding them. (go figure again) whew!! Life is full of it isn't it? Hugs!!!!

    Tossing the Scale??

I learned the once a week thing at weight watchers many years ago. It has always worked for me much better. I can do that obsession thing with weighing and I hate myself when I do that. I put them away in the cupboard in the bathroom so they are "out of sight out of mind"!!! I think everyone just has to figure out what works for them... Hugs!!!!

    Weighing yourself

The accuracy doen't matter anyway. We just need to know our progress. If you weigh once a week and try to do it first thing in the morning, you will have more consistent results!! Hugs!!!

    i am soo mad!

Nothing good will come of these angry feelings, I think you should consider letting them go and go on with your wonderful new journey!!! Hugs!!!
  17. Sounds like you trip just happened to coincide with your needing a fill!!!!
  18. Do as much walking as you can. It helps trust me!!!!
  19. My daughter has this trouble too. She is super sensitive to fill and tolerates much less than most other people. Can I ask you? When you first get a fill do you do liquids for a couple days and then very gradually add back mushies and then real food? When you get stuck do you go back on liquids for a day and do mushies and gradually back to food? I think you may be just sensitive and may have to handle food very very carefully. Also you may need to get smaller adjustments so you can have time to get used to them in between. Hugs!!!!
  20. I didn't have a psych eval, but it makes sense to me for them to look for and ask about the mental part of losing weight. It is a big issue for some so I am sure they will touch on that at least a little.... I agree it will be fine!!!
  21. It is true you don't have to eat until you are stuffed. The band helps but we do need to employ common sense. I can snack too, way too much and have let myself get into that a few times. I just have a talk with myself and figure out what else I can do with the time I am looking for snacks. Lately I have been walking during the time I typically feel snacky. It gets my mind on something else for long enough to get me over it... I am sure you can find a way to get past this problem also. You may even be due for another fill!! Hugs!!!!

    Full????

    Protein Protein Protein!!!!
  23. I had this same thing this week. I had a stuck episode and then had a lot of trouble with water for the next two days. I decided to do liquids only for a 24 hour period and did not eat until the water was going down easily. It worked and I am fine now. Hope this helps you a little Hugs!!!!
  24. Now that I look back, I think I did it with my mind. A boy rode past me on a bike when I was in the sixth grade and called me "fatty"!! It went into the depths of my soul. I went home and took a long hard look in the mirror and decided he was right!! I was not fat then, but all it took was thinking it. I became more and more "into" food. I remember saving my milk money and stopping at the store after school to buy an Eskimo Pie!! I loved sweets back then, so it didn't help. I still was not fat but I was a bigger girl than many of my classmates and I matured early. Inside my head it meant "fat"!!! I started dieting all the time, and that made me Oh so hungry!! I think the dieting in the early years created the problem I have now. The reason the band helps me is because of that hunger. I am very glad I did this becaue I feel like I am getting my life back!!! Hugs!!!

    Always Cold

It makes sense if you think about the fact that a calorie is a unit of heat!! We are consuming less units of heat now, so we aren't getting our customary fuel!! Hugs!!!
