    Dating

Thanks for that Jennibee. My friends (happily fat and married friends) Think that my attitude is "too picky". So, I guess after all these years, I should hook up w/ a superficial louse? I am not too proud to admit I like the appreciative looks from guys. LOL

    Dating

The push food around is a good strategy. I made a rule for myself though...I will not date anyone who did not show interest before the weight loss. Not that there were too many who did show interest. Now some friends of friends who I knew before have asked about me and I will NOT entertain these people now that I look better. I am now with a very old ex who has known me in varying shapes and sizes and he is super supportive. Good Luck
  4. With all the snow shoveling I have been doing, I should weigh 100 pound! I'm just saying.

    LIST COMPLICATIONS

I can honestly say that I had no issues. My pre and post surgery went off without a hitch. I had no gas and had some normal post surgical discomfort from being sore, but that is it. I was able to sleep in my bed from the first night home. I was back to school teaching with in one week and other than being whacked by a school bag in the stomach, I had no problems. I was banded October of 09, and recently have had quite a bout with acid reflux and am scheduled to see surgeon next week. I have lost 83 pounds and feel great, not to mention looking pretty darn good in my size 14 jeans. LOL My surgeon had a great pre-operative information class and everything they outlined in the class was EXACTLY what happened in the hospital. I went home on mushies and moved to solids about 4 weeks after. (I think) Good Luck and keep doing your research.

    Why so rude?

I think we should all join hands and sing "Kumbaya"....I have found most people to be helpful and kind. Sometimes people ask questions and don't like the answers they get. It is all a crap-shoot as to who answers you and how you choose to react is up to the individual. Sometimes we need a kick in the pants to get it together or to leave the pity-party. Sometimes we just want to whine, and that is OK too.
  7. No answers, but I have been having very bad reflux and the coughing/choking has me up all night. I had an unfill in November and it was better, but I imagine when I go see doc next week I will have more unfill...Keep an eye on it

    Still hate my band

Perhaps the original poster is not getting proper support from the medical staff? I believe that can make a huge difference. I hope things can be resolved w/ your visit this week.
  9. When I do the mashed cauliflower, I throw in a scoop or 2 of instant mashed flakes to help the consistency. Looking for low carb flakes, but will have to travel to whole foods for them I think. I doctor them up with FF shredded cheeses and some garlic. I even had some cooked turkey bacon and put that on top like a "loaded" baked potato. Pretty good.

I do something similar w/ the egg substitute.
  12. what on earth is cabbage spaghetti? and I am hooked on mashed cauliflower....
  13. I swear by Dress Barns jeans. They fit me well and have both 14 and 14W. Not too expensive either. They had a denim sale last week and bought 4 pair for under $100. (Side note) The skinny, 12 year old (not really 12) sales girl helped me when the 14W was too big and brought me the regular 14. She said, "See you don't need the 14 WIDE." I gently corrected her and laughed in the dressing room...

    My addiction

I def think doing the "head work" is almost as important as the controlling the eating. I was always so proud that I stayed away from alcohol and drugs after growing up w/ an alcoholic father. However, I now realize that my addiction became food. I had a year of therapy before the surgery and now continue w/ it 2x a month. It is a big help and continues to be helpful. Hang in there and it does get better....

    Vomitting

My experience is like Cheri's. It happens, and not always at the fault of the "eater". I took my nightly pills a few nights ago about 3 hours after my meal, and they just caused so much discomfort that they eventually came back up. I will see my doc on the 26th about it.

    Keep the "fat" comments coming.....

I am sorry you have to deal with this. I agree that in a clam time, you should call them both on their comments and even your dad about his not standing up for you. You have a great attitude and are doing well. Hang in there.
  20. Took my nightly pills about an hour ago and one or more are not going down well. It is so uncomfortable. I have been sliming and etc. I tried some hot tea, but that just came back. I also have been up moving and "burped" myself. No good! Any suggestions?
  21. I no longer get email notices when someone comments on my posts or on a post I commented on. Is there something I need to activate to get them? I felt bad that people had commented on my post and I did not respond. Thanks, Tracy
  22. I know this has been discussed to death on here but....... Why do people feel that banding or GBP is "cheating" or not really losing weight? How is this tool any different from WW or JC or South Beach? If obesity is medical condition why should treatment for it be viewed differently than treating any other disease or addiction? If there was a surgery to curb alcoholism or drug addiction would people poo-poo that as cheating? UGH People are so ignorant. The worst part is that this attitude comes mostly from other obese people. Tad of the green-eyed monster I suspect. Not just over the weight loss, but at the decision to take control over this. Aaarghhh! GRUMBLE GRUMBLE..... Thank You-Rant over.
