reality check after banding
TracyNYC replied to dragonflylover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I agree completely: Most of us are addicts. People look at me like I am crazy when I say that I got the band as a way to live my addiction, because unlike other addicts, I can't go 'cold turkey' and stop eating altogether. I knew my life revolved around the food before the band, but did not know how hard it would be to change. I really struggled this past week, but feel re-focused since Thanksgiving Day, (which is weird) I hope to have lost 5 lbs. since my last weigh in early November when I go this Thursday. -
Thanksgiving-How did you do?
TracyNYC replied to Brigette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We had 3 hour drive and I was waaay too tight to eat before we left at 7. I took Crystal lite w/ Protein in for the car and a few string cheese. At the rest stop I had egg sandwich w/o the bread. Just the egg type substance thing.LOL At my brother's we had cheese and crackers( No crackers for me) and spinach dip and salsa. I had a bit too much full fat cheese but did OK with the rest. A Bit of grazing but overall OK. For dinner I had a small amount of what I wanted (Turkey, mashed potato, green Beans, corn and gravy) I guess the really BAD thing was I succumbed to a small cornbread muffin w/ butter. When I tell you that muffin was the BEST thing.....LOL I really wanted a second one but stopped. I had apple pie and FF cool whip later on. I never felt deprived. I ate too much of course, but a hell of a lot less than normal. We went to Cracker Barrel for Breakfast. I kicked Band Ass THERE! Eggbeater omelette, kids bacon order and tea / FF milk. When I tell you Cracker barrel is my fave place for breakfast, I am not kidding. I am soooooo proud of the choices I made there. Go Me! Glad we did OK and look forward to seeing how I do at my weigh in Thursday... -
This is the 2nd stuck episode in a week. I did it to myself. I am ashamed of what I tried to consume, but in the spirit of honesty, here goes: I had 2 chicken wings from Chinese take out, plus 1 1/2 scallion pancakes. WTH is wrong with me? Bad choices first of all, and then the quantity?? If I had stopped after 1 wing and 1 pancake I would have been fine, other than poor choice of course. I also am struggling with what solids i should try. PA said dark meat chicken and green Beans. Good, but what else? i am still having 2 mushy meals out of my 3 and that is NOT satisfying me at all. So I am starving by dinner, between 6 and 7 and pick and snack and eat stupid, fast things. Any help? I don't see nutritionist until January, and she was not very helpful w/ other email.

Bad stuck episode-my own fault
TracyNYC replied to TracyNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! It is soooo frustrating. I have been unable to go to support group and no one else I know has done this, so I feel very lost at times. I am "thankful" for this board. Not that I am am glad that others suffered with stuckness, but at least I can know I am not alone. -
Help i swallowed gum
TracyNYC replied to mrmrslamb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh Boy, I never chew gum, we weren't allowed as kids. i swear since being banded, I have had a craving for gum... -

WOW! I went home on Mushies and I thought that was fast. Stick w/ mushies for a while. I was on for 5 weeks and still have a lot of soft stuff since my first fill makes it tough for food to go down. The only solids I have had are green beans and dark meat chicken w/ lots of gravy.

2wk post-op and cleared to eat solids...
TracyNYC replied to Nonoma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually went home on mushies and have started some solids. I eat dark meat chicken, slices of low fat coldcuts (ham, turkey, turkey pepperoni) I think I could tolerate some bread, but don't want to open that door. My loss has been stagnant too. -
Going out to dinner on mushies??
TracyNYC replied to Moxi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had stuffed shells that I "unstuffed" and 1 meatball that I mashed to death! -
Good Job! I am trying to hit 250 by Jan. 1st as a mini-goal. You must be so excited.

Some may find the beneficial...
TracyNYC replied to Cherishthepast's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was coming on here to post that I never feel "full"...bordering on stuck, but never full in that good way. :bored: I will try this. Tonight, I am going to my first social gathering since being banded on 10/5. I am already hungry. I hate that feeling and this is NOT head hunger. I will wait and make some of the food at cocktail party my "dinner". Thanks for the info. -
Help! Does this incision look normal??
TracyNYC replied to jessicakolman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would call and mention it to the desk. Can you email the pic to the doc? Just check it out. I had no bruising and also had 1 belly button incision. I also am a worry wart. Hope all is well. -
Not sure why, but since surgery (10/5) I have been standing up for myself more and more. I was never a shrinking violet, but have just been more mouthy at work especially. I am not complaining, I like it, but sometimes I hear myself and think -OMG I am such a bitch- BUT I DON"T CARE. That's the change, I really don't care. Maybe it is the whole "Taking control" of my life thing, but I like it!! LOL Anyone else have a personality change? (Or maybe I just need a piece of bread!)

Not sure what it is but...
TracyNYC replied to TracyNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Guys, No I have not exercised really. ( I know, Bad me). I like being "Sassy" too. -
OOHHHHH! I get it! I misunderstood. LOL It's late!

I never had any rules about cold vs. hot foods..... I wonder what the rationale is?

Favorite Mushie Food Item/Recipe
TracyNYC replied to USCTrojans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My fave is Low Fat or skim ricotta, tomato sauce (plain or flavored) and low/no fat mozzarella, some garlic and mix it all up and microwave it. It is very flavorful. I opened an ala vodka sauce instead of tomato by mistake and it is yummy too, although more caloric... Just a tip: I was eating ground chicken with low fat gravy just fine. A few weeks in it wouldn't go down. The PA said that sometimes nuked meat (especially poultry) can get rubbery and hard to get down. I also LOVE Hormel 98% fat free turkey chili with some FF cheddar. -
I grazed from the moment I got up this morning and am still thinking about what else I can eat. I have had 1 fill and have a little restriction. I was home not feeling great with a good head cold, so I know it was boredom. But now I actually am hungry. How can I combat this head hunger?

SOOOOO, I spent the day grazing
TracyNYC replied to TracyNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All good ideas. I like the journaling part. It adds an element of accountability. Thanks. I too look forward to others' responses. -
Yeah, I really wish I had not been do open about it. I have gotten some negative crap too, and from people I would not have expected it from either. Good Luck!

Hi, and welcome to the Banded Life. I was lucky and did not have gas like that. I did take chewable Gas-X. The walking does help. It will get better. Feel well, and feel free to ask all the questions you need to. I am still fairly new (10/5) and asl lots of questions too.

Holy Cow CA! That is awesome. You were banded 3 days before me and you lost 65 lbs???? That is sooo great.
-
I am on Depo Provera (the shot) and don't get a period with it. However, I did get a light one about 5 days post op. I have since had another one exactly on schedule! Have to talk to my gyno.

i feel like i'm being punished for losing weight...
TracyNYC replied to 2Flyguys's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG Jachut, that is so funny. My friends have been teasing me about not letting me at their homes once I lose. They are all morbidly obese. I told them nicely that they have nothing to worry about!
