I actually had a fill today, and sometimes I get the pain as well. Are you only on liquids? I tend to swell so I do all liquids for a couple days afterwards.

You shouldn't have the surgery unless you're 100% and have all the information It sounds cheesy, but it really is a commitment to a weight loss journey and it will work for you if you work for it. Which means, eating the right foods (which you will learn about). You will definitely count calories and Protein and some foods won't work. If you can accomplish the same results without it, perhaps you don't need it? Just something to think about

It is definitely hard! But keep the end result in mind, this part is only temporary. You can do it!

I can do a whole chicken breast but it has been about 8 months since I've had a fill. I'm thinking I'm due for one though

Omg....how often do you have it?! My surgeon told me it will go away, and it's part of the healing process....he said it's reffered pain from my stomach...i really can't handle this!
Hmmm, on average maybe 2-5 times a week. Sometimes it's minor, sometimes I just can't stand it. I do the heat pad too, and I cook healthy all the time. I'm thinking some foods just make the gas worse, if that's what it is.
-
But EVERYDAY for 4 years?! Wow, I know I couldn't handle that!
I'm 2 years post banding and still get the shoulder pain. I'm so sick of it :/ I'm going in to talk to the doctor about it at the end of the month.

I have type one diabetes and if you do a search I've posted my experience and what to expect.
In a nutshell, she needs to talk to her endocrinologist. I did a trial run, pretending I had surgery and living off of what I would be drinking so I could get an idea of my sugar levels. The pre op diet will help with that! She will also be dropping her rates significantly and my endo had me running a bit high to avoid lows in the beginning.

How much weight did you gain? I gained a pound in a month and still got a fill.

Yes people are very ugly about it sometimes! I agree with others, you don't need a "friend" like that. I have run into people like that as well, but I wasn't so lucky as to have it told to my face. I had an overweight acquaintance(definitely NOT a friend), tell my friend she doesn't understand why I don't "just go to the gym". But to me, she acted supportive. I began by telling almost everyone, and now I keep it to myself. I simply don't have time for the drama that can come with it.

My doctor told me 1-2lbs a week is where they want me to be. Keep in mind this isn't the get rich quick schemes of the dieting world. Some people will lose faster and others will lose slower. You are not in comptetition with them but rather changing your life, your lifestyle, your whole outlook on eating.

IMO yes. I had the same symptoms and I could barely keep Water down. Eventually I had blood laced vomit and I had all the Fluid taken out of my band and given time to heal. I had the option to take some or all of it out, but I wanted to give myself time to heal. I just got 2cc's put back in yesterday and I'm doing great.

I'm right there with you. I had a complete unfill due to excessive swelling and get my fill tomorrow. It has been a very long 2 weeks! I don't even want to weigh myself :/

Good job!!!

Absolutely. .5 made me swell so much I couldn't keep liquids down.

I hadn't had a fill since July and I was optimized. I was going in for my 1 year check up and considered a fill because I only lost 7lbs since August.
My appetite had gone up, but probably not enough to need a fill, I just wanted it.
I got a .5ml fill on Wednesday and since I had to get some of my fill taken out before, I took it slow and did all liquids until Friday. It was difficult keeping down even the clear Soups and liquids but I thought the swelling would go down. I had some Soup with little pieces of corn on Friday evening and PB'ed. Saturday morning, I could barely keep Water down so I called the surgeon and he met me in ER and took out all the Fluid in my band.
I'm almost at my 1 year mark so I'm kicking myself for getting a fill. I was losing and maybe not at the pace I wanted but now I have to start over, fill wise. I'm hoping my story can help encourage you to take it slow.

I agree with others. For me, I would at some times gain a couple pounds here and there. But, if you look at your weight loss on a graph, the trend is generally going down. Keep in mind that like everyone says, it really is a journey. There have been a couple months where I only lost 2 pounds the whole month! I was discouraged but just kept doing what I was supposed to and focused on adding exercise. Don't let this little bump in the road let you lose your focus! You will lose the weight, the lap band will work for you!

I have been wondering the same thing... because i'm part of a roller derby team and my doctor said it might not be good cause i'd 'get elbowed in it'... but the same surgeon apparently puts the port in the lower abdomen and sews it to the muscle.... so i'm thinking i am not gonna get elbowed in the lady parts lol. it still makes me very upset to think of giving up derby. i want to know the same thing.
I started rollery derby about a month ago and I have been wondering this as well. I mentioned it to my doctor before my fill last week and she didn't have any concerns but I am almost a year post op. There are a couple other girls on the team who lapband so I think it will be ok

I usually have a Protein Drink right after working out to help curb the hunger I get. I used to drink it before because I thought I should, but I haven't noticed a difference in drinking afterwards.

Me too, especially if I have it first thing in the morning with nothing else in my system.
have a date now but now getting nervous!

During the seminar I went to, the doctor said more people died from NOT having the surgery (due to obesity issues) than the control groups that "needed" it and didn't get it done.
