New Here! Day 5 After Lap Band Surgery!
I agree with those telling you to walk as much as possible - keep yourself moving! Also - follow the diet your doctors office tells you to. Even tho we are all bandsters, every experience we have is unique - yours will be as well. I wish you much success, and if you have questions, just ask. Good Luck, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Blogiversary! I have to say, I follow you with great regularity - and have since I started on here more than two years ago...and I have migrated over to Blogger too...just to catch up with you. You say you have learned so much about yourself by blogging - Thank you - because I have learned so much about me by reading your blogs! We bandsters live a unique lifestyle - and I thank you for putting your life into words! Joanne

New LBT...not liking it
Hang in there! It's always going to be something...a holiday, a birthday, anniversary, etc....and part of being banding is learning how your own body is going to react under all circumstances. It was so easy for me to put on weight - when I was happy, I ate - when I was unhappy, I ate - when I was stress-free, I ate, when I was stressed to my limits, I ate....mad, sad, ecstatic, you name the emotion, I celebrated it with food. However, I am now a better person for learning how to NOT use food as my crutch, my comfort, my weapon of choice. I made the choice to be healthier ....and no, it's not always fun to sit around a Thanksgiving table heavy with food at watch other people eat. I do, however, like to get up from that table and feel so good about myself. I like not having to unbutton my pants to accomodate my swollen stomach. I like having the energy to take a post-dinner walk with my family. I like making memories that do not revolve around food. Hang in there - this is a beginning of a whole new you! Healthier, smaller, more confident....I wish you a wonderful holiday season!

Happy Thanksgiving

Lesson Learned: Don't Take Anything for Granted
I am sorry that you had issues with the eye surgery - but your message you shared is so true...never take any part of this life for granted. Heal well!

How often do you weigh yourself?
I find that weighing myself everyday was not good for me....however, I know several people who do weigh in daily, and they are fine. I jump on the scale on the 19th of the month, and track from there, since the 19th is the day of the month I had my surgery.

Help!!!! I'm starving!!!!
you need be on this diet for many reasons, first and foremost, to protect your liver during surgery! The liver sits very close to the top of the stomach, in the area that will be banded - and the smaller the liver is, the less pain you have with band placement! We all have to make accomodations to the way we eat when we are banded - however, the change in our diets is what is best for our bodies! Don't fight the diet - work with it, with the realization that you are making the choice of a lifetime for yourself! Best wishes! You can do it!
-
I have survived!
Congratulations! Isn't is wonderful to have people tell you how great you look? and to know that it's true! Can't wait to see pics!

Experienced Bandsters! HELP!
You need to make sure you stay hydrated...I carry a bottle of water with me everywhere. I certainly agree with the above posters who recommend that you call your Dr's office - and let them know what is happening. I know the feeling that you are happy the band is working, but you need to make sure you are eating enough to sustain your body! Hang in there!

New Green Shirt Photo
Getting on the scale now has such different meaning...I used to cringe when I stepped on the scale, however now I look forward to seeing the number displayed! You look great! Keep up the awesome job, and the great attitude!!

I have a collar bone!!!
Collarbones are awesome! Watch out, tho! The sight of collarbones usually results in the purchase of v-neck shirts to show them off! LOL Keep up the great work!

65% towards first goal (44 days since surgery)
Setting smaller, attainable goals is a smart way to go about losing weight. You need to not be unreasonable, but sensible and diligent toward your mini-goals. Congratulations on your weight loss, and have fun on your cruise!

Banded but don't work out
You don't have to hit the gym daily, but moving your body really does help...even if you walk. Walking is really good for your whole body, and keeps all of your joints moving.
