    NSV shout outs

What a great thread this is. I don't know how I've missed it until now! I love reading about shedding sizes. I haven't been under a size 16 in over 30+ years. Right now I'm in a size 20 and really looking forward to surgery and a new wardrobe. Keep posting all these victories please. It gives up pre-ops something to look forward to. :thumbup1:
  4. Merry Christmas everyone! In my house we celebrate Chanukah, Christmas, New Years and whatever else is in the air. My son arrived home yesterday morning and soon he'll wake up to Christmas presents. Last night my son announced that he needs a detox so we are going to be eating light which should get rid of these 3 pounds I gained. I'm so done with sugar and eating carbs. We're planning a walk around Lake Merritt to start the day. This morning we're stopping by a brunch, not necessarily to eat but to say hello. Tonight we're having Christmas dinner with several close friends. Turkey and veggies for me. There won't be any desserts! Everyone will be delighted to see Zach. I hope each of you finds delight in this day. Peace, from my home to yours.
  5. Cajun, I don't know anything about your situation, but wanted to say congratulations on the 68 pounds. What a success that is! Your family is going to be blown away by your achievements! I'll hold a good thought for you that the doctors will find a good solution to your problem.

    Some Generic Post Op observations

Hello Aimee, I was particularly touched by your post this morning. I'm in the stage of losing weight required before I get to see the nutritionist and case manager who will then schedule my surgery. I read everything on here so that I can learn from the experiences of others, but in the end we each have our own journey. Your honesty and evaluation of your emotions is something that often isn't posted. I'm going to follow your journey with interest and appreciation. Soon you'll be home in your own familiar surroundings. You're going to do great!
  7. Wow! What a wonderful gift you've given yourself this holiday season. Congratulations on working your Sleeve!
  8. Good Morning! I'm still a sugar addict. My office is filled with sugar and so am I. In the 90's I was a vegan for 9 years and never ate a bite that wasn't vegan, or a bite of sugar. How can I have that type of resolve and this week eat every cookie in sight? Bah!! I'm up three pounds this week. I know it's carb bloat so I'm now officially off the sugar. My son sent me a text message at 4:30 telling me that they rerouted him from Houston to SFO this morning. He didn't want me driving to Oakland airport to pick him up. I'm glad he's avoiding Denver because of the bad weather there. I couldn't go back to sleep so I'm heading into the office early. I'll take off early when he gets back to Oakland on BART. The good news is that my son works out daily. He'll have me walking the lake once a day and working out in the gym too. He may even get my sorry sugar laden a$$ into the pool to swim if it warms up. I'm so happy that by next holiday season, all of this random eating will be behind me. I think I'm suffering from the "last supper" syndrome with this sugar fest. I feel done with it and I'm looking forward to getting back on the losers bench. Congrats to each of you that has done so well this week. Don't take it for granted and give yourselves big kudos! Weight this morning 235.4.... now watch it go down!
  9. Wingrider, that's awesome that you're wanting to show your Grandma your healthier self. I know that will make her very happy. Good luck on both your surgery and your goal!
  10. Olivia, how great to hear you sounding so well. I think we all hope for the type of recovery that you're having. I hope to follow suit in the next couple of months!
  11. Tiffy, I got hypnotized on the summer solstice in 1990 after smoking a pack a day for 22 years. To date, I haven't picked up a cigarette. I really wanted to quit! Resolutions. I generally don't make them, but if I were going to pick one, it would be to go through with the surgery this winter, then devote the rest of the year to learning my Sleeve tool, exercising and getting the weight off for the last time. I'm going to stick close to the forum and learn from the winners how to use my Sleeve for success. I'd be happy if people wanted to add me as a friend.

New to VSG, Old to WLS

Hi Kathy, Thank you for taking the time to share your story. I can only imagine how frustrated you must be. While I'm new here, I've been around long enough to know that the group here is incredibly kind and caring. You've definitely come to the right place.
  13. Beaglemama, thanks for that great response. Now I'm stoked to get downstairs into the gym! I'm going to keep following your progress.
  14. Reactivate, do you go to Kaiser? There are groups in Sacramento I think. Send me a PM if you'd like more info.
  15. What a great post. I agree, us pre-sleevers need these posts to motivate us and get us excited. I love that you said your arms are awesome. I think I'm about the size where you started. Did you have big arms to begin with? I'm really afraid my arms are going to stay big.

    Thinking DS

Nikki, I'm new here and still pre-op, but it looks like you're doing great shedding 76 pounds in 4 months! I bet some of the folks who have been sleeved for awhile now will give you some great advice. It sounds like whatever you're doing is working great for you! Hang in there and happy holidays!
  17. Good Morning! Well, not so great, up one pound this morning after my indulgence yesterday. C$#%*%& 233.4 I'll look for that Robin Williams special. I love to laugh! Ok, better choices for me today. Congrats to all you losers!

    Kaiser Permanente - Bay Area

Hello, I'm scheduled for the VSG at Kaiser Richmond. While they offer all three surgeries, I think their preference is the RNY. My mother had a hereditary malabsorption disease which makes the RNY less than optimal for me so my surgeon immediately recommended that I have the VSG, which was my 1st choice. Richmond doesn't have the class requirements that they have in Southern California. It does have a great support group the first and third Wednesday of every month. There are people from all over Northern California that use the Richmond facility. There are four great surgeons and the bariatric department is excellent. Please ask if you have more questions about the Richmond program.
  19. Good Luck Frank! Sending good thoughts your way.
  20. Pam, it just means he wrote his profile when he was 53, but Yahoo updates your age based on the year you were born. I think I wrote my profile a few years ago, but I don't put my age in it so it doesn't matter. Riley, guys are strange. I met a man once, he said he was my age. This was about 10 years ago so he would have been late 40's. When I got to the restaurant, he was actually 62. I told him it was a shame for two reasons, 1. relationships are built on honesty and 2. I like younger men so someone that much older than me was definitely out. He said his friends told him to lie because women wouldn't go out with a 62 year old. Hah! now that I'm 59 I would. Heather, welcome home. Sorry about that missed day waiting for the flight from He!!. Monique, I want to make my pre-surgery goal by January 5th. Maybe we can do this together! B. Protein shake L. spinach salad w/4 oz chicken, 2x2 brownie D. 1/4 dark meat chicken, 1 wing, 1 apple GHKWGHEWGHWEG 3 pieces of candy this afternoon I was 232.6 on home scale this morning. down baby down
  21. Hi Ash, How you doing? I forgot about my "diet" today and ate a 2x2 brownie and 3 pieces of candy. I've been staying away from sugar, so I felt like I was ready to leap from a tall building. I do fine at home but for some reason, the sugar got to me in the office today. I'll be so happy when the holidays are over. I'm hoping to be at my pre-surgery goal weight at the January 5th support group meeting. How many pounds do you need to lose pre-surgery? How's it going?

    What to eat?

Tiffy, this is a fantastic post. I'm going to bookmark it for when I'm post-op!
  23. Judy, How terrific to read this. I have been hoping to read a post like this from you. You're right, we wouldn't be here if we weren't compulsive eaters to begin with. I'm really happy that things have clicked for you and you're feeling good about your journey. I'm really happy you posted, even when things weren't feeling so great to you. Those are important lessons for all of us who are still pre-op. Thanks for sharing everything!
  24. Hello. My name is Lee and I'm a Compulsive Eater who forgot today that she's in recovery. UGH UGH UGH... a 2" x 2" brownie and three pieces of candy. I don't generally eat sugar so I wanted to jump out the window. I felt so bad! I wish Christmas was over and people would quit bringing in things to eat. Ok, done whining. Dinner will be chicken, broccoli and an apple. Tamra, that's rockin the scale girl. Heather, welcome home. Now give us the scoop on vacation please. Donna, how cool that people aren't recognizing you. Pam, I like Plentyoffish.com but haven't been on there recently. Good luck! Take lessons from Riley. Maria, congrats on getting back to the gym. Go slow slow slow. Pat, you did great at the parties! Canolie, you must be getting close to goal. I know I'm forgetting everyone. Sorry. My son called a few hours ago. They made it to New Orleans for dinner. After dinner they'll head out for Houston. Not bad, less than 24 hours to New Orleans with the bad weather in NYC. Thanks for all those great travel prayers! I'm going to go walk off some of this sugar on the trampoline!
