John, do you go to either of these Sleeve sites? Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy Surgery (VSG) Forum Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy Forum (VSG)

Ash, I'm so happy to read that your son may not need the tubes. That really rocks. I hope your hubby gives you that money for your co-pay. Step it up and get inline for the surgery so that you'll be ready when all your financial ducks are in a row. Maria, you'll be in Onederland before you know it. Drag Mo along with you, or vice versa. Tamra, I'm so proud of you, planning your future career and taking the steps to get there. Ash, what's the three day diet? I could lose a few before surgery. John, Dr. Park said they try to get us into private rooms but it's winter and everyone is sick so they may be doubling up people. Let's try to get rooms next to each other so we can walk the halls together. How much do you weigh and how much do you want to lose? Men lose so darn much faster. I'll be hating you every pound of the way but I'll race you anyhow. Riley, you're a crack up, only one good stomach flu from Onederland for Mo. So anyone going to the meeting tomorrow night? I'm going. It's my last pre-op meeting. Heck, the next meeting me and John will be locked up at Kaiser. I bet they won't let us drag our IV poles and bare butts to the meeting and I bet we wouldn't want to!

Fellow sleevers help please!!
Lee replied to angel96049's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Angel, hang in there. I'm so sorry you're feeling so poorly. Hopefully all of the suggestions you've gotten will help! -
Don't Give UP!!! I am so pissed off for you. It should be illegal for your employer to have any say in this process. I haven't even told my boss what surgery I'm having. I simply said I was having a procedure and would be out sick for a week, then working from home for a week. In California, he can't even ask me what the procedure is. I love my State. You hang in there and vent away. We'll all listen. Just let us know what you need support wise to keep up the good fight. Can you call in sick a lot because you're too exhausted from being fat to get out of bed?

Tamra, BIG congrats on your test! You go girl! Sleeve is one or two nights. Dr. Park told me it depends how we're doing but she thinks two nights. LOL, I don't think John's wife will want us to be roomies, well until she sees that I'm old enough to be his mama, then she might think it was cool. John, I'm TERRIFIED about the heave ho to the stomach too. It's in the dumpster and no matter how much we cry, we aren't getting it back. Of course, it's that darn stomach and how much I can fill it that got me to 249 in the first place. #$Y@#%Y#@*(%Y@#

John, my team is Dr. Baggs with Dr. Park assisting. Do you have Dr. Baggs or Dr. Fisher? What time of day do they do the Sleeves?

Good Morning Everyone, Welcome to the new people! It's kinda funny reading all the posts. I happen to be one that gets along great with Liz. I haven't had much experience with Robin yet. I have a new surgery date due to some scheduling changes. Now I have a little more time to clean closets! Who's going to the support group tomorrow night? I'll definitely be there. Have a fun day everyone. Fill it with good, healthy choices.

Thanks to all of you for posting your post-op experiences. I think that for us pre-ops, it gives us a realistic expectation instead of a fantasy that everything will be perfect with no pain. I hope you all start regaining your energy very soon!

Nikki, Not to bad? I'd say pretty freakin amazing! You have done such a terrific job rockin your sleeve. Congratulations!!

Week of February 8th ... join me?
Lee replied to Lee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Everyone! Thanks for the kind words Rob. That's pretty funny about your wife not letting you dump the fridge. So my surgery got changed. So much for me starting this great group for the week of the 8th. I'm now moved to February 17th. I actually like the Wednesday better anyhow. But heck, I'm sticking with this great group. Now most of you get to go before me and I get to tag along behind! -
Tomorrow is the big day with Dr. Jay

Good Luck!!! -
Chancie, Our tastebuds are all so different! I tried the unjury chicken Soup yesterday. I liked the flavor, hated the 780 mg of sodium and felt a little nauseated after drinking it. I decided to go with the Trader Joe's low sodium broth and add some unflavored Protein powder to it. Not sure how that will work as I haven't tried it yet.

Hi Clock, So happy to hear that we have another on the 8th. I hope you enjoyed your "last supper" yesterday evening. I think we all have different requirements the week before surgery. I'm just supposed to stick to my 1200 calories a day, but since my scale is up a pound this morning, I'm definitely doing protein and very low carb this week. I have to take Milk of Magnesium on Sunday. I can honestly say that I'm NOT looking forward to that. Mostly just because I hear it tastes like crap. I'm going to eat very light in the days before as well. I spent a lot of time up your way one summer. Beautiful country! -
Hello, A few people in my support group reported getting back pains between the shoulder blades if they ate just a bite too many. Im still pre-op so have no experience of my own. I had my gallbladder out last November, but never had pain in that spot.

Hi Excited2Lose! What a great report post-op. Thank you so much for posting this! I'm so happy to read how well you're doing post-op. I think that reading positive reports helps everyone to relax. Please stop by often! -
Thanks for the prayer! I do know that each Kaiser program is different, but it never hurts to ask. The thing to consider is that whomever does your surgery becomes your doctor, if that matters to you.

Hi Diane, Are you a Kaiser Patient? I am part of Kaiser Richmond in N. California. This week I finished all of my pre-op requirements, weight etc. My surgeon was not available to me until Mid-March, due to his schedule and also mine. My case manager asked if I'd like to switch surgeons so that I could get a February date, so I jumped on it. Is there any chance that someone else in your surgeon's practice can step in?

How much weight did you gain in the hospital?
Lee replied to Bambi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bambi, I'm still pre-op for another week, but I had my gallbladder out on 11/2/09. I weighed myself Monday morning before leaving for the hospital. I weighed again the next day and was 10 pounds up. I didn't eat anything so it was obviously the IV etc. I think it took 4-5 days until everything was out of my system and I was back to the Monday weight. My case manager told me not to get on the scale for a week after VSG, then to weigh daily for life. Hang in there! -

Good Morning everyone, I was thinking about the anxiety aspect of all this while on the treadmill this morning. I think I'd be more worried if we didn't have any at all. This is a big step for each of us in our own personal journey. That said, I've been completely anxiety free since Thursday night when I had the last of my appointments. I hadn't slept more than three hours any nite last week because of my severe anxiety. Thursday night I slept like a baby and last two nights as well. I put whatever anxious energy might be lurking in me to good use in starting to clean out my closet, the kitchen cabinets, fridge etc. It feels really good to me! This morning I Skyped in to my son in NY to chat for an hour. I keep watching for signs of him being nervous about my surgery, but he's not which makes me happy. I'm going to a movie this afternoon. I really wanted to have my last popcorn pre-op as popcorn is forever off my Kaiser plan. As long as I stay within my 1200 calories today I'll be ok. I'm feeling great and positive and ready. I almost wish it was tomorrow instead of next Monday! Let's all make this a really good day as we count down to that slim life we all want so much! -

Hi FreetoBe, It's so normal for us to have anxiety!! I don't think you're any different than the rest of us. Good for you for recognizing why you're doing this and how it will change you in a positive way. I haven't worn a dress or skirt in a long time either. I'm looking forward to it! Keep coming and writing about how/what you're feeling. That's exactly why I started this thread so that we could support each other. -

Hi BKind, well I can say I've never had my mouth wired shut, or taken hormone shots, or had horse urine shot into me. I've never gone on the diet a friend was on where she couldn't lick a postage stamp (years ago obviously). But I've tried a million of them. The only one that I could maintain was low carb and did ok on raw vegan for a few years. I ate vegan/no sugar for nine years without a slip and was still fat! Generally vegans are the thinnest folks around. So I've been up and down every block, did Overeater's Anonymous for close to two decades, and I'm still fat. Get the theme? Still fat! I'm 59 and don't want to yo-yo diet anymore. I hope I'm ready to meet my emotional eating issues where the fork stops. If not now, when? If I need/want to, I'll enlist the aid of a therapist. I'm ready to do whatever it takes to be successful. I understand about not being afraid of the pain of surgery. I had my gallbladder out in November and July 2008 had major ankle surgery that had me off that foot for three months with an 18 month recovery time. I know that this surgery is going to have my ankle singing with praise at every step of this journey. We can do it. And it will be easier if we all do it together! I think I'm going to have Pre-Op pictures taken this week. Are you taking some pics? -

Yaya, I feel the same way as you do. My surgery is next week and I think that's about all that I can handle in life changes for a little while. After making friends with my Sleeve, I hope to get back into the dating world. I've met some great guys online. One I got engaged to. Long story. One I dated for 2 years and another for 3 years. Maybe next time will be a charm!
