  1. Diane, We're all thinking of you and cheering for your successful surgery. Please let us know how you're doing as we all care! Pennie, what day are you up? Are you Wednesday? I'm very excited for you both!!
  2. Five months for what? Inquiring minds want to know!
  3. pumpkin, I don't have a special pre-op diet. We were given a 1200 calorie a day diet with no Protein supplements. Once we reach pre-op goal weight, we just have to stay there by surgery morning. I'm supposed to do Milk of Magnesia the day before and eat lightly that day. No food after 6pm and no fluids after midnight. If a meal several days before surgery would make it dangerous, I know I wouldn't have a 1200 calorie plan the days before surgery. Just another take on it all....

    Freaking out a bit!

Tiffy, this is a fabulous list of posts. Is there a way that we can make the list a sticky? I'd like to be able to come back and read it over and over if/when I get to a stall. It's all so motivational!
  5. Hello, I'm not having the surgery until next week so I can't speak from experience, but if you search this site, you will find that most everyone that hit a stall felt that they were the only one this wouldn't work for. There are tons of posts exactly like yours that say the same thing. Most people go though the stall and everyone comes through the other side of it and continues losing. I'm sorry this is difficult for you. I'm sure that experienced people will answer you. Hang in there and visualize being at your goal. You don't want to visualize this negative response to your surgery.
  6. Loved seeing all these gorgeous pics and reading the wonderful reviews of the evening! Next time I'magonnab there!
  7. The best advice that I can give is to contact the Case Manager because at Richmond, that's the person that schedules the surgery. I met with mine and she gave me an oral test and we talked about what I've been doing to prepare. If Fremont has a case manager, call and get an appointment. You're gonna be sleeved before you know it! Hang tough and keep calling them. They'll get sick of you. Have you been assigned a surgeon yet? Email the surgeon to let them know that you've completed all requirements and would like a date. Good luck and let us know how you're doing. :001_rolleyes:
  8. Yes, it was an amazing book but it was a novel. Oprah uncovered that he just made it up. Some of it was true but the gory details were made up to sell books. The dentist scenes etc never happened. He came on her show and said he made it all up. But as a novel, it was pretty compelling. So quiet here tonight eh? I'm going to crawl in bed and see how long I can sleep. I'll probably read for an hour, then crash.
  9. Charity, I too would not attempt to flush them out. I was counseled against doing that. I had my GB out last November. Mine came from eating very low fat. Everyone has it for different reasons. The only important thing is that you get your GB out ASAP. Please don't wait for complications. Maybe your church can help you, or a clinic affiliated with your church. Let us know how you're doing please.
  10. Tamra, I don't know about the TV tonight. I have a loaded TiVo that I'm watching. I record a lot of things that I watch later. What kind of books do you enjoy? I mostly read off my Kindle but still have some other books as well. I'm reading a great 900 page novel that takes place in India. That will keep me busy for quite a while. I just gave away 10 big Whole Food bags filled with books. I had a serious addiction and my son told me he'd kill me if I died and left all those books for him to deal with.
  11. Attagirl Tamra! I'm really proud of you for eating so well and getting out there to walk. You go girl! I'm hanging quietly at home. Throat is still very sore. I hope it's better tomorrow. Eating very light today and drinking herbal tea. Maybe tonight I'll sleep better.
  12. Good Job being open to suggestions!
  13. Hey Judy Judy, this is wonderful! You're doing such a great job!
  14. Hey Ali, We have the same ticker!! Good taste you've got there girl.
  15. Candra, you're so funny girl, it was three inches in a YEAR! John, I was thinking of putting "No Blind GI Tube" on the back of my driver's license. So happy to read that it was recommended. I knew I wouldn't wear the bracelet. Ok on the room. Dr. Park said it would be a private room unless they are over run with patients. I'm still feeling dreadful. I just made myself get up to take a shower and wash my hair. I've been drinking tea and am defrosting chicken to put some Soup in the crockpot later. The party for tonight was cancelled since I'm not feeling well enough. Nice friends I've got. Maybe we'll do it tomorrow night if I'm feeling better. It's just dinner for us 5 closest friends. We always Celebrate birthday's together. At least I'm reading a good book and have a full TiVo. I think I'll go watch a movie. You all better be having fun up there in SAC!~

    Help me please!

Diane, my surgery was postponed until Wednesday, February 17th. Since I got a terrible sore throat yesterday, it's a good thing it was changed a week ago. Hey, any exercise you get, walking 30 minutes, whatever, will help you get to your goal. I notice that the weeks I walk several times, I do better in terms of weight loss. Send me a PM anytime for a peptalk. We will do this!
  17. Tina, state of california, OT is anything over 40 hours in a week or 8 hours in a day. Chandra, Dr. Oz said on Oprah way back that a normal BMI is 25-30. Interesting because of all the charts. Dr. Baggs told me that he would be very pleased if I got to 30 BMI and would consider that a success. 25 would thrill him. As far as waist size, Dr. Oz said that a 32 in waist or less is healthy with reduced risk for everything! So, you're doing great! My waist this morning is 35. It was 38 January 2009 so I've made progress in the last year. I've been napping all morning. Throat is hella sore so I'm still sipping my first cup of tea. scale was 230 this morning. Hopefully I'll be less by tomorrow so that I'll be back to pre-op goal of 228-229 on home scale. The only good thing about my surgery date change is that they probably wouldn't have done my surgery with this cold. I hope today is so much fun for everyone! I wish I could skype in to see the festivities. I have a feeling I won't be going to my friends small dinner party either.
  18. I'm here cheering for all of you! I got a very sore throat yesterday which has gotten progressively worse. I guess now I'm glad that my surgery date was changed to the 17th. Everything happens for a reason. I can't wait to hear all of the wonderful reports from each of you! This is going to be a very good week of success stories. :sad0:

    Help me please!

Hi Diane, I'm a Kaiser Richmond patient so I know your pain. I'm 1 pound up from my surgery goal so I know I have to get it down before the 17th or they'll send me home. Low carb is really the best way to go. I'd dump the mango because it's so high in sugar. It will keep you craving. Get rid of the oranges as well. What I've been eating to keep me close to goal is lean ground turkey fried up with a spoon of sour cream and salsa on it. Eating meat will keep you full longer so that you won't need to snack. chicken, pork chops, whatever you like. eggs are also great. Make an omlete with a little turkey or ground beef in it and it should hold you for 4-5 hours. Pre-packaged meals are very high in sodium. You may just be retaining fluids. Drink 96 oz of Water and herbal tea if you like it. Eat only fresh meat. Stay away from cheese if you can. Trader Joe's has Fage non fat yogurt. Eat that with some splenda. It's 20 Protein for a cup and low carbs. If you need fresh, eat lettuce or spinach. There are some Protein shakes that are good with water and have only 1-2 carbs per serving. That said, small protein meals will keep you full longer. I think we get the same binder of information at Richmond that you have at Fremont. You're doing great. You'll have surgery before you know it!
  20. Morning everyone, Add me to the sick list. I started getting a sore throat yesterday afternoon. By last night it was fierce. I laid awake from 11-2 because it hurt so bad. At two I got up and took tylenol and lots of vitamin c and was able to fall asleep after reading for awhile. This morning my throat still burns to swollow and my nose is stuffy. I haven't had a cold in a few years so this is so weird. My homeopathic remedy "Flu Plus" is probably helping. I think I'm spending the day in bed watching Netflix Instant movies and sipping tea. One of my best friends birthday party is tonight and I am going to try to get better enough to go for awhile. CoCo... I found that Trader Joe's now has single packet Chicken or Beef Broth which will be great. It makes a cup which will last all afternoon, so there's no reason to open a big can. I found them in Low Sodium which is right up my alley. John, I asked my friend who was here yesterday about hospital roomies... she had a woman when she had her RNY in June, but she didn't see why they wouldn't let us room together if we asked. Tina, sorry you're still under the weather... you too Auds. Tamra, here's to a day with no potatoes. Be strong gorgeous girl. We're all here for you. Post all day if you need and make time to get that 30 minute walk in there. Can you go over to Sun Valley to walk since it's raining out? Look for a pedometer if you go there. This morning I'm setting up my new pedometer so it will be all ready for my 10,000 step challenges. I lost my old one in Russia so my WW friend got me one for my birthday. It finally arrived last week. Have fun tonight everyone! Take lots of pictures please.
  21. I'll be curious about this answer as well. :thumbup1:
  22. Tennessee, after my gallbladder came out last November, I used a product called Carbo Vegitabilis - it's a homeopathic remedy. I took it twice a day and only once felt a twinge of pain. I just took another dose and never suffered a bit. My surgeon has cleared it for use after the Sleeve. I'm sure you could find it at any health food store or Whole Foods type store. Homeopathic remedies are tiny balls that you put under your tongue. It comes in a little clear vial with blue writing or black writing on the container. You can also add some to the Water you're sipping. I hope you feel better.
  23. Ali, I think everyone is different. I know that I'm hoping to go back to work five days later from my home office. That way I can nap as needed and walk around a lot. I'll be back in my office full time two weeks after my Sleeve surgery. Kaiser will give us 4 weeks if we need/want them. I don't need a work slip so it wasn't an issue.
  24. I woke up feeling great his morning. Took a 30 minute walk, met a friend for tea, then came home to work from home today. My throat is getting progressively more sore as the day goes on. WTF is up with that? My friend Bonnie from the Wednesday night group is coming over to walk on the treadmill with me. I'm not giving up the exercise because Fri, Sat and Sunday are my best days! I hope you all have a great time playing together this weekend! I'll be playing with my best girlfriends to celebrate one of them's birthday tomorrow night. Coco... you're so close darlin. Almost there! I went out and bought soup today. It's tough finding lower sodium soups. The best I could find is like 480 mg of sodium for a cup for the creamy soups. Campbells should be called on the carpet fro putting 780 mg into a cup of soup. Don't they know it leads to high blood pressure? I'm going to make home made soups and use the Trader Joe's Organic Creamy Tomato that is really low sodium. Ash, congrats on working towards goal and getting a date! Mo, still doing the happy dance for your Onederland. Back to work for me.
