Stacie, I wanted to send you hugs. I'm so sorry you're going through this. I can so understand your frustration with the healing process. I hope that things improve very soon. Please keep coming here, even if just to get hugs from all of us.

I had surgery Wed morning at 11:30 and was released next day at 4:30. I loved the pain pump that I controlled. I was in a lot of pain the first night and I think I would have been frightened of every little thing if I had been home alone. It was reassuring to be in the hospital where the nursing staff checked my vitals every two hours and woke me to walk every four hours. I could have stayed a second night but knew I would rest better at home. I was alone at home and did just fine.

Cajun, I'm currently taking Protonix twice a day. I'm waiting to hear back from my doc. It would be worth it for me to go get checked out since I was down with a bad sore throat for 10 days pre-op.

Meandmyweightloss, both John and I got our sleeves on 2/17/2010. I love mine. Kaiser is offering them as a third option these days. Tell your husband to go to verticalsleevetalk.com and check it out. I'm Lee~ over there. He can email me or pm me for info if he'd like. I think it's a great tool!

Riley, Happy Band Surgiversary!!!

Good Morning! I got a good sleep. 11pm to 6:30am without waking up to take meds or use the restroom. I slept on a ton of down pillows. I never had reflux before surgery so this is a big freak out. This morning temp is 99 which is elevated for me because I run 97.6 usually. The back of my throat feels scalded and my back hurts a little on my right side when I breathe. I may email the doc. Don't know if a sore throat six days post op is normal or if this is part of the illness that had me on antibiotics right before surgery. GRRRRR I walked on the treadmill yesterday. Just 2 miles an hour at a 2 incline for 15 minutes with a 5 minute 1.5 warmup. I felt good about that. Last night dinner was 2 T tomato soup and 1T protein pudding. I was really full after that. I got in 50 oz of fluids and was proud of myself. I can down a 16 oz herbal tea pretty easily. I wish Zach would wake up so that I could go in the bathroom in the bedroom suite where he's sleeping. That's generally my room and I want to weigh myself! John, how much down are you? Tina, you keep sounding good. I'm really happy that your spirits seems happier in the last couple of weeks. Heather, that trainer is gonna kick you bootie! Hey, maybe you've waited this long for your band because you're really supposed to be a Sleeve Sister to me and John. *ducking and running while waving hello to everyone!*

Hi Jules, Welcome to VST!! This is a great website and you'll make many wonderful friends here. This is the site that had me realize that the Band just wasn't for me, which my doctor confirmed. He said he would only do the Sleeve on me, so I was very lucky. You're going to do great. I think it's so exciting that you're doing this on your 3rd anniversary! I got my Sleeve last Wednesday and already think it's the best decision I've ever made. 50 years of dieting and I earned the right to have a tool that will finally work for me. :001_tongue: Keep posting to let us know how you're doing.

Ella, I'm glad to read that you're feeling better. I think that it's amazing how much we can improve, day to day! You go girl! We're gonna see these pounds just slip right off these hips! :001_tongue: -
Thanks Cajun! I was fever free yesterday but this morning I'm slightly elevated at 99. I finally slept through the night, but woke up to a bad sore throat and some pain in my back when I cough. I'm emailing my doc this morning. I love that we all look out for each other on this forum. I feel so lucky to be part of what's going on here. hugs, Lee

Tiffy, Keep strutin your stuff! You look great and I'm going to keep telling you that! :001_tongue: -
CoCo, I'd ask Dr. Who as it may be Band related indigestion. Enjoy tomorrow off! My son leaves at 6am on Tuesday morning and I'm back to work. I'll work from home the first week, then back to the office. You have a lot of fun tomorrow!!

LOL John, I think it takes more than penis talk to scare these girls away! They did bring me 100 pills. I take them religiously. I wonder how much of this has to do with the hernia repair. I just made some protein pudding for dinner. Yum. My son said it smells great. I wish it tasted as great as it smells, but to me it will. I haven't been walking enough so went down to the gym. Twenty minutes on the treadmill at 2mph with a 1.5 incline. It has to start somewhere. I'm less active because this big incision hurts me. No complaints except that you're losing faster than me! Please say hi to adorable Nikki and your lovely mom. Hey everyone, where the heck are you on this raining Sunday? I think it's movie time around here as soon as Zach finishes the laundry.

My plan says 1/4 cup of food for awhile, graduating to 1/3 to 1/2 cup at around 3 months. I asked about refried Beans because everyone talks about them, but was told they're not part of my plan and considered slider foods. :thumbup1: I'm five days out and so far got in 56 oz of fluids today. I'll drink another 8 oz of herbal tea before bed. My plan calls for 64 oz starting day 5. I'm thrilled that I'm able to tolerate Water and herbal tea.

Hi Sparkle! Welcome to VST. I'm only five days out so I can't answer your post-op questions about food. But I can tell you that I'm so thrilled that I had this done. Please hang out with us and let us know how you're doing.

Surgery Tomorrow Feb 22nd
Lee replied to shylady318's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh boy!!! I'm so excited for you! What a wonderful journey you're embarking on. I'm five days out and already feeling great and I bet you will too! Please let us know as soon as you can that you're doing ok! We all care about you. PM me anytime. -
Hello Everyone, Thanks for all the advice about calling the doc. I'm much better today. Slept two hours and woke with a splitting headache and sore throat which I think is from the acid reflux. Slept another four hours and feel much better. Zach taught me how to clear my lungs and get all of the gunk out. This morning my lungs are clear. The ice pack on my big incision worked miracles. Finally was up to showering and washing my hair. While today is full liquids, I haven't been hungry and have downed 32 oz of tea and water this morning. I'll go make something full to drink in awhile. I don't know how much of my discomfort was from the hernia repair or from the Sleeve. John, you're rocking with 5 pounds. I'm down 2.4 from surgery morning. You guys always shed the pounds so much faster so you go!!! So my catheter didn't cause me the symptoms you're reporting. Tamra, love your new avatar. Congratulations on your fabulous weight loss! Lil'MO, your food looks delish! CoCo, how cool that you get to weigh at Kaiser tomorrow. You've been doing so well. Tina, you're right, lucky your uncle is a Doc! I'm so happy that you have your job. I too always think of work as job security. Candra, where are you girl? Pat and Pam, how are you both doing? Maria, we haven't seen you around here much. Hi Ali! Heather, how's your challenge going? Ashley, how are your sons earaches? Jes, what have you been up to? I know I've forgotten a ton of people. Sorry! I'm going with my home scale from here out because it weighed me exactly the same on Surgery morning at Kaiser. It doesn't really matter a pound either way anymore. Have a fun day everyone.

Marie, keeping working at the Clear liquids. I was able to get in 32 oz yesterday from wakeup to sleep. This morning I've gotten in 32 oz by 1pm. I'm trying for 64 oz today. I didn't worry about Protein while I was on clears. Today I'm moving to full liquid and will try to get in two Protein shakes or protein pudding, whichever feels better. When do you get to move to full liquids??

Hi Everyone, I wanted to post an update on how I'm feeling. Saturday (surgery on Wednesday) was my roughest day. I generally run a temp of 97.6 so 100 was high for me. My big incision was really hurting me so at night I put the ice packs from my gallbladder surgery on it and whala, this morning it's better. Friday night I had extreme acid up in my throat while sleeping so doc told me to put more pillows or a recliner (which I don't have). Last night was better with more pillows. I had Fluid in my lungs and I couldn't cough it up and it was painful to cough. My son taught me a trick that when I'm coughing lower my head and look down. After a few tries, it did the trick and whatever was in my lungs came up and out. YAY. Last night I woke after two hours sleep with a bad headache and sore throat. I got up and took pain meds and gargled and was able to go back to sleep for another four hours. This morning I'm looking forward to meds to keep the fever down as well as gargling all day. I haven't been walking as much as I'd like because of the incision pain and headache and fever. Today I want to get some walking in. I've been on clear fluids and today can move to yogurt and cream Soups. I've been getting in 32 ounces of fluids. Yesterday had my first low sodium chicken broth. I love popsicles and mixing 1/2 and 1/2 sobe pomegranate w/ Water. Today I may try some Protein pudding but may still do a lot of broth. I want to get rid of this sore throat. I haven't had a moment's hunger since surgery. I know I gained a lot of weight from the IV fluids, but this morning my scale is down 2.4 pounds from my surgery morning weight. YAY! For those of you still pre-op, there's nothing that happens during surgery or in the few days post-op that you will remember. I would do it all again tomorrow. Good luck to you pre-ops. You're gonna shine. :001_smile: Love to all of you with great appreciation of what each of you bring to my journey!

Hello, I've had a rough day. My regular temp is 97.6 and this afternoon it was 100 which is a fever for me. My big incision site is killing me. I have a big wet cough going on as well. I just keep sipping and sipping and got in around 32 oz of fluids today. John, I'm glad you waited a day. Robin explained to wait until day 5 to move on to full fluids. I may have a touch of hunger, but not really. I think it will feel good to have some protein tomorrow. I'm going to walk around for awhile and watch olympics, try to get some of the fluid out of my lungs. Sweet dreams everyone!

Lee replied to determined1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone at my facility gets a 40. Less nausea and dehydration. I can honestly say that with my 40 I haven't had a moment of nausea post-op this week. -
Marie74, how are you doing? Please come and let us know you how are. You know we all send good thoughts your way!
