    Before and After

You look awesome! And even more inspiring than your pic is watching your BMI take a nosedive. You've lost 42 pounds!! What a great job you're doing with your sleeve.
  2. Wow Mini... simply awesome! I can't wait to hit the one month mark and measure!
  3. I see a lot of people on Obesityhelp.com rave about this for when they need to outsmart the carb monster. Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test

    Spaz80's Journey

Welcome to VST. I too found this website through lapbandtalk. What a lucky day that was for me!
  5. Heather, you look so adorable. What a difference a year makes!! Maria, good luck with your fill and with your interview. That's so exciting. It sounds like everyone is doing really well. How cool is that! John, tomorrow is two weeks for us. Can you believe it! My energy is good. Yesterday while out for my walk I ended up walking to my office and working for the afternoon. I'm going to work this afternoon as well in the office and home right now. I'm feeling great in my body but already seeing signs of loose skin. Oh well. I did this for body and heart health not for vanity.... right? Enjoy the raining day everyone!
  6. I too have a 40f. I didn't suffer with nausea post-op and was getting in 20 oz of fluids on day 2. By day 5 I was up to 64 oz of water and herbal tea. I can drink 16 oz of warm tea in just a few minutes. Everything goes down easily. I get full quickly on dense foods like yogurt. Tomorrow is my two week mark and I'm down 13 pounds. I love my 40f!
  7. You look absolutely stunning. You'll be such a gorgeous bride. Congratulations on all your success in working your Sleeve!

    Monday Morning Weigh In

Laura, look at that beautiful 216 on your ticker. Your weight loss has been incredible. The great thing about our Sleeves is that we know we'll continue to lose. All of the statistics point in the right direction as long as we play nice. I think you're doing great. Please don't be discouraged!
  9. Faith, as a former vegan for many years, I would really suggest you try something with the soy, just to give yourself a chance to change your mind. There are some incredible things being done with soy. I like soy and I love ribeye steaks. One doesn't necessarily exclude the other. Now I'm gonna go check out the website!

    Monday Morning Weigh In

Congrats to all you big Loser's! :thumbup1:
  11. We all came to this place of surgery with a past history with food. Signing up for the surgery, or even having the surgery doesn't take away those thoughts of food. I think it's a process to go through. That said, the marvel of the Sleeve is that it becomes about fuel as others have said. I track everything in myfitnesspal.com as well. I generally plan my food early in the day so that I can see what I'll put into my body. Tina, Tiffy is right. There's so many wonderful options with low carb. For me, I've done it for years and love it because I'm rarely hungry. You're going to do terrific!
  12. Dang, I'm jealous!! I had to be at my pre-surgery goal weight or I'd be sent home with no surgery. I was only 1 pound down so had to be extremely careful. Three days before surgery I splurged with a small order of McDonald fries and that night had brown rice and an Eggplant/shrimp and scallop dish from my fav Thai restaurant. I figured I would drink Water for the next two days if I had to. When I got to surgery I had 1.2 pounds to spare and wished I'd had a dessert. The thing about surgery is that you're not going to be hungry afterwards. You'll adjust to the low carb. It takes a few days to get the sugar out of your system and then the meat and veggies will take very good care of your food cravings. Low carb is great for getting used to eating post op. Good luck!

    Bougie size???

Hi Kabranda, I had Clear Liquids for the first five days, then full liquids after that. I'm 12 days out and hope to be moved to pureed foods by the end of the week. I know that continues for at least another two weeks. I think our plans are quite similar. The great news is that you won't be hungry after surgery and will need to remember to get your fluids in. I didn't feel hunger at all until day 10, and then just barely. The good thing is that at that point 1/3 cup of greek yogurt is so filling. You won't have any problem with the food plan. Good luck!
  14. I love hot herbal tea in the morning as well. I take my PPI and make a 16 oz mug of tea and grab 8 oz of Water. I wait awhile before having a Protein shake. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when I head back to my office full time next week. I guess wake up very early.

    Off hbp meds!

wow wow wow! You're doing terrific. I'm so happy for your progress! My surgeon took me off my Cholesterol and Hydroclorothiazide the day of my surgery. YAY! No more mandatory meds!
  16. Hello Team, I thought I was finally over the 4 days of massive runs. I did mostly Clear liquids on Wednesday and yesterday felt good. This morning I had a Chike Protein shake and it sent me straight back to the bathroom. The same thing happened this afternoon after a sugar free fudgesicle. Have any of you become lactose intolerant post op? Does it go away? How long until it does? Any suggestions on things to eat while on Full Liquids? I have another week on full and I don't want to get weak. I may try Greek Yogurt again tomorrow without any other dairy to see if stays in ok. I could live on Greek Yogurt but would love some variety. I haven't made Cream of Wheat or applesauce because I don't want the carbs. What would you do if you were me?
  17. Ha! I guess milk would be good if we get constipated!
  18. Ashley, I'm thinking about your son this morning! Tina, you have a lot to think about this week. I hope Dr. Baggs can help you make a good choice for you. John, I'm doing good. Back away from the bread so nobody gets hurt! I'm carefully counting calories and carbs to maximize these first few weeks post-op. Have fun cleaning your closet. I got rid of a lot the weekend pre-op to make room for clothes I had in boxes. Everything still fitting the same but then again I'm living in jammies if I don't have to go out. I'm loving my Sleeve and my Scale. After reading suggestions I went and got the Trader Joe's bean soup. Wow is that ever good. I'm living on TJ's boxed soups and Greek Yogurt. I've been eating under 300 calories a day but yesterday added one muscle milk light and brought my calories close to 500. I think I need more protein as I'm going back to my actual office tomorrow. I've been getting in my walking, either outdoors for 30 minutes or on the treadmill. All in all doing great! What's up for everyone's week? Happy Monday! It's a great opportunity to make good choices today. Who's going to Richmond on Wednesday?
  19. Hi Pennie, Your weight loss is fabulous! How much of that is since surgery? I know experienced people will step in. I'm only 12 days out but thought you might like to see the Cornell recommendations. It doesn't sound like you've done anything wrong. Your body may be rebelling from adding calories so quickly. How's your carb count? Weeks 0-2: Total Cal: 400-600 Total Carbs: <40 Total Protein: 70 Weeks 3 - 3 months (Soft Foods): Total Cal: 600-800 Total Carbs: <40 Total Protein: 70 - 90 3 - 12 months (Regular Food): Tota Cal: <800 Total Carbs: <40 Total Protein: 70 - 90 After Reaching Goal (Regular Food): Tota Cal: 1000 - 1200 Total Carbs: 40 - 60 Total Protein: 70 - 90 Good luck!

    One week out

Congratulations on your upcoming date. I'm 12 days post-op and know it was the best decision I ever made. I almost cry each time I think about how lucky I am that my doctor recommended WLS. I was very excited about my surgery once I got to that calm place of knowing that I'd be fine and to just relax. I would suggest spending as much time as possible visualizing your life post-op. How you'll look, how much easier you'll move in the world, how great it will be to shop off the rack. Find your happiest place. For me I was walking barefoot down a beach, wearing white linen flood pants, a white linen tank top with a white linen big shirt over it, unbuttoned with the wind blowing back my shirt and ruffling my hair. I had a big smile on my face. I just visualized a very happy me that felt fit and fabulous. My mantra was "everything always works out for me". I said it over and over and it calmed me when I went to sleep. Find what works for you. You're going to be just fine!
  21. Great job working your Sleeve. You look terrific! Congrats on a job well done.

    Monday Morning Weigh In

Happy Monday Weighin Team! HW - 249 SW - 228.8 LW - 225.4 Today - 216 Wow, I didn't realize I was down 9.4 pounds since last week. That really rocks!! I'm going to be doing the happy dance all week! I know this is because I'm so newly post-op but I'm still delighted. I love my sleeve! Deedee, you are doing great. How cool that you're in maintenance now! AJW, you're going to be in the 150's before you know it. Chancie, it's good to see you back here!
  23. Hi Bored, Are you able to tolerate Greek Yogurt? I am really relying on it right now because it's so high in Protein. I've never been a milk drinker but I am hoping that small amounts of cheese will be fine once I get to that stage.
  24. Hi Daisy, I think it's too sweet as well, but I put it into the blender with ice cubes to dilute it a bit. I'm viewing it as medicinal and as that, it's easy to get down. I also use the Light but it's still high in calories at 160 each. That said, I need the Protein so I'm going to happily use them!
  25. Hi Everyone, Just checkin in. I've had a great weekend. Sleeping better. Last night went to a friends to watch movies. This morning drove for the first time and went to Whole Foods. I guess I've pampered myself and not even gotten in my car since surgery. This afternoon went with a friend to see a movie. I've walked 4 days in a row. Three days on treadmill and today 30 minutes at Lake Merritt because it was a gorgeous day. I'm doing good on Full Liquids and hope that I'll be moved to Pureed when Robin calls me on Wednesday. Anyone going to the Richmond meeting on Wednesday? I'm planning to go. How's everyone's weekend been?
