wondering if I am on track
Lee replied to Timetofly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tomorrow is one month for me. As of tonight, I'm down 18 pounds. That is since surgery morning, not including any pre-op weight loss. I'll see if I shed anything by morning. I was hoping to be at 210 at one month so that means I need to let go of 1.8 pounds over night. It doesn't really matter to me. I feel like my body is changing and I'm feeling good. The weight is going to come off. Will it happen in 6 months? Who the heck knows but this is for the long haul. I think you're doing great Diane! -
LOL Tiffy! I adore each and every one of you because everyone brings something different to this wonderful table of ours. I love the support that I find here! Thank you all for cheering with/for me! When I get to overweight..... oh you just wait.

Thanks PNW! You're a third of the way as well. I didn't realize the third because my eye is on 199 as the half way mark. It's nice to realize I'm a third!

I worked that formula and it says I should end with a BMI of 27 or 28. Interesting because my surgeon said that he would consider my surgery a success if I got to 30 BMI and fantastic if I got to 25. So this calculation is right in between! I'd personally like to get closer to 25.

Trish, my surgeon (at Kaiser) had only done 20 before my surgery. He's had years of other weight loss surgeries, but they just started offering the Sleeve last November. There were two surgeons present in the operating room as they always work in teams. I had trust in him to give me a great sleeve. So far, no problems or complications. Tomorrow is 1 month since my surgery. They discovered that I had a hernia during the surgery and repaired it as well. I had terrible reflux the first few nights if I wasn't raised up on enough pillows. Then the Protonix kicked in and I haven't had any problems since. I had just started to get a little heartburn in the weeks pre-op but didn't know that I had a hernia. -
I'm glad you're doing ok KimChi. I don't think I had the yogurt when I was in Korea. My son taught English at a private school in Sokcho. I loved visiting there and learning about the culture. I'm so glad I was there before my Sleeve as there were so many yummy things to try!

Hello and welcome to VST! I've heard many different things. My doctor didn't recommend anything special. I'm eating low carb, trying to keep the food under 30 grams a day. Here are the Cornell recommendations. I love this post and everyone's comments. Tomorrow is 1 month out for me. I started eating some soft foods over the weekend and today I'm officially off pureed foods! I've been keeping it really simple. food isn't very interesting so I'm just trying to eat things that taste good to me. I live alone so things last forever. The two things that are working great for me right now are turkey meatloaf and Trader Joe's frozen marinated mahi mahi. On Friday I noticed that the skin on my thumbs was cracking from being dry. I mashed the mahi mahi in the olive oil marinade and within a few days the cracking has stopped. It's so interesting to pay close attention to what's happening to my body. I've been slathering on cocoa butter as well. It seems I can eat the same thing over and over and don't really care. It's just about getting in the Protein and moving on. Liberating it is! :001_unsure:

Hey Everyone, I got to look at the wedding pics tonight and they rock! What a beautiful wedding CoCo. Reggie, you are definitely the hostess in charge! How lovely of everyone to throw you that stunning reception. Coco, I hope that your life together is wonderful and brings new found joy and happiness everyday. I'm hanging in here. Had some blood pressure problems over the weekend that left me too weak to do anything. I think I'm ok today. Doc Baggs put me back on my blood pressure meds on Saturday and I think it went lower than it's ever been. I didn't take my pill today and did much better. I'll have to email him. So excited to move to soft foods tomorrow. I've been eating very soft meatloaf and very soft mush with a fork marinated mahi mahi. Everything goes down just fine for me. I can't believe that Wednesday is one month out!! What really helps me stay on track is logging all my food in myfitnesspal.com. Knowing that I have to write it down and look at the calories has helped me. For the first few weeks, John and I were emailing our food every night. I like being accountable. Over at obesityhelp, I participate in a thread where people write their food, exercise, vitamins etc daily. It's really helpful. Maybe for those of you trying to get back on track, it might help to write your food everyday with an eye for being on plan? Just a thought. *waving a big hello to everyone*

YaY! I'm so glad you're on the Loser's Bench! I'm sorry you had a rough go of it in the hospital.

Congratulations KimChi! I'm so glad your surgery went so well. Love your nickname. It reminds me of being in South Korea!

Hey, I'd love to see the pics of the blushing bride. Reggie, that was so lovely of you to put that together for CoCo. I think I sent you a friend request CoCo, but not really sure how to do it..... maybe Sleevers are all Lame!
-
You look terrific. Congrats on a wonderful 3 months!

I'm moving to pills and capsules when I hit my one month on Wednesday. I asked to start earlier but was denied by my surgeon. His advice was to not mess with the staple line. That scared me enough to wait.

I'm saving a spot on the Loser's Bench for you breekahouse!

Should he be able to drink this much?
Lee replied to txaggiemom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was supposed to be drinking 64 oz a day by day 5 and had no problems. I'm 3.5 weeks out now and can drink the same as I did before surgery. -
CoCo, I'm so delighted that you had a wonderful wedding and weekend. Big Congratulations!!
-
Every plan is so different. My Kaiser plan requires that I weigh daily for the rest of my life. I guess that way denial can't set in about what's working or not working. I record everything in myfitnesspal.com so that I'll be in the habit when I progress to new foods.

Nicola, I saw my surgeon on Friday. He gave me clearance to bathe, swim etc on the 17th which will be one month for me. He lifted all exercise restrictions etc beginning on the 17th as well. Life is good.....

What did you bring with you to the hospital?
Lee replied to karaserene1985's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I packed a bag but the only things I used were chapstick, toothbrush and toothpaste. I thought I'd use my iPod etc but never did. I slept most of the time and had no interest in reading or watching tv. I wore comfy clothes to the hospital and just wore them home. I expected to stay two nights but was so thankful they let me go home after one night. It's so much easier to rest at home! Good luck!! -
