  1. Oh YAY! ONEDERLAND! Congratulations! You must be so thrilled. This is just what I needed to hear this morning. For the last two weeks I've shed ONE pound. Doesn't it seem just incredible that we can eat so little and hang onto the weight?
  2. Mine came out in November, Sleeve in February. My surgeon would not have done them at the same time. He just felt that's better to keep them separate. That said, he did find a hiatal hernia and repaired that when he did my Sleeve.

    Protein

Pre-op I loved the Chike orange so much that I ordered a canister of it. Post-op I can barely choke it down. Post-op I like their chocolate better than the orange. I hope you still love it post-op!!

    Some Protein Info from Unjury

Thanks for posting this for everyone. I too get their emails and I try to remember that everything they send out is with the purpose of getting me to order their products. My Kaiser plan calls for getting all of my Protein from food sources. I do occasionally have a Protein shake, but look to get my 60 grams from food. At 6 weeks out, I just have to be very careful with my food choices. Fage yogurt - 20 grams per cup 3 jumbo shrimp - 20 grams 1 buffalo burger - 43 grams While I think that unjury has very valid points, I'm just pointing out that getting protein from food can be done as well.
  5. John, I just got a look at your pics. Wow! is all I can say. I'm doing better the last few days. The only thing I'm hurling at this point are my vitamins. Food is staying down ok but I'm really leaving the meal without being at all full because I'm afraid of that "one bite too many". CoCo, that's such a great story about Donna. I have a feeling you meant she was in an Easter outfit, not an eater outfit but it was very funny to read as written. Great on getting so much sleep last night! Tamra, I hope you stuck to your low carb while working today. You'll be amazed at how quickly the cravings for all the other junk food leave you. Is anyone besides me watching the Jamie Oliver Food Revolution show? I think it's the best program on TV right now. So scary to see what the schools in America feed the kids. No wonder childhood obesity is an epidemic. Happy Sunday everyone. I'm going out for a walk this afternoon, then to a movie later today.

    17 days to go

Viola, welcome to the Loser's Bench! I'm so happy that you are Sleeved and doing ok! Travel safely and let us know how you're doing. Isn't it amazing to have no hunger? My hunger started to return a little on Day 10. For some it never really returns. Enjoy each and every day! :w00t:
  7. Last week I was away on business and met up with a woman from OH for dinner and a support group meeting. She wanted to go to a buffet type place that she loves. She has a card, so I downloaded one from the net to show the cashier. I ate 1/3 cup of food for $7.50. That said, I won't go to a buffet by choice. I really haven't eaten out since surgery. Last night I went to my favorite Vietnamese restaurant and ordered chicken over spinach. I had it for dinner, Breakfast and there's still enough for 3 meals left. I didn't mind paying full price, knowing that I'll have a ton of leftovers. It was so great to have chicken with flavor! 1/3 of a cup with flavor is divine! I'm going to remember to do that occasionally so that I don't get so sick of my own boring boring boring food choices at home. I tend to eat the same thing day after day because I live alone.

    could use some help

Hey, congrats on being Sleeved!! I didn't worry about the Protein for the first few days. I just concentrated on getting in my fluids. After the 5th day when I went onto full liquids, I mixed the unflavored unjury in chicken broth. Be careful that the broth is not over 130 degrees or it will clump. Mix the Protein powder in a little Water first to dissolve, then mix in with anykind of broth. Let us know how you're doing!

    Help

Anna honey, sending big hugs your way. We are all so different. Please don't compare anyone else's journey to yours. You don't have any leaks, that's the wonderful news. Focus on what's right. Your tiny Sleeve is swollen right now. I wasn't allowed even an ice chip for over 24 hours post-op. Sleeve doesn't want much. You're probably on an IV so don't need to worry about fluids today. Sip when you can and get them to give you those anti-nausea meds. Trust that tomorrow will be better. Maybe today you'll nap and wake up feeling a little stronger. You're going to be ok, in fact, you're going to be just fine. The first few days are the toughest for us all. Know that we're here for you and sending good healing energy your way. hugs and more hugs....
  12. YAY YAY YAY!!!! Onederland... you're bodies in Onederland... You go girl! What an inspiration you are to those of us just starting on our journey. I bet every one of us has thought at one point that this just won't work for us. You're here to prove that it can be done! Thanks for sharing your journey with us! :w00t:
  13. AJW, thanks for the info!
  14. I had to wait a month to take capsules. I'd call your doctor. I took my first vitamin capsules this week and puked them right back up. The capsules can be hard on the sleeve.

    5 weeks post op

Hi Connie, I just passed my 5 week mark this week. It looks like you're doing terrific. I love reading about your NSV's! You've done better than me with the weight loss as I've let go of 19 pounds since surgery morning.

    Question about Protein supplements

My Kaiser (N. California) plan calls for three meals a day, no snacks and no protein supplementing. I have chosen to add a protein shake most days because early out after surgery I can't eat enough food to get my protein up to levels recommended by other plans. I know that the body needs protein for healing and want to give myself every advantage.
  17. Hi Pennie, I notice that I feel a little more sluggish after eating. This morning it happened after a protein drink as well. Maybe our systems just have a more difficult time digesting right now. I don't feel like napping, but I do feel a bit of an energy drain. Eating is seeming like a chore these days. Hungry and need to eat but never know how I'll feel afterwards.
  18. Donna, I'm not going to make it to PW today. I was in SAC earlier in the week and have to return on Monday. Just too much driving for me. Tamra, Atkins is pretty easy as it takes away the hunger. I've been doing it since surgery and since we can't eat big amounts, the protein is very filling. I have a feel the real challenge for you will be staying away from the coffee. You can do it! Good luck with your move this weekend. It's a beautiful day here. I'm going swimming for the afternoon. I didn't stretch yesterday and I'm feeling stiff in my legs, so the swimming should help. There's a big Oakland Marathon being run right past my house today. UGH on the traffic, YAY on the runners!

    10 days out

Slebme, I was Sleeved on a Wednesday and was off the pain meds by Monday. I also had a hernia repair at the same time. I think I was on pain meds longer when I had my gallbladder out in November.

    New Hobbies

    Oh yeah, I'm a Sudoku fanatic! :biggrin0:
  21. AJW, can you tell me more about how you're using Medifast? Have you done that since surgery?

    New Hobbies

Hi Maxcat, I didn't pick up any hobbies but I also didn't have a liquid pre-op diet. I had to follow a 1200 calorie diet from the time of my orientation until surgery day. I've heard people talk about picking up more exercise, crafts, shopping (which can be dangerous) etc. One thing that I did do was clean out my closets and get rid of things that were already getting too big. I did a lot of clothing donations. I also unpacked boxes of clothes that were size 16 and 18 because I hoped it wouldn't be long until I could wear them. If you happen to live alone, cleaning out kitchen shelves of foods that won't be appropriate post-op is also a good use of time. Good luck and let us know how you're doing!
  23. Yup, commando! I didn't know I'd have a catheter, but I woke up to having one. Never knew they put it in and really didn't even feel them removing it.
  24. Ash, congrats on making your way to goal! Mo and Pat, so sorry to hear that you're both lacking restriction. Ali, how are you feeling tonight? Tamra, are you ready for the big move tomorrow? I haven't done much today besides get on the treadmill, catch up with my TiVo and read. And I guess answer my work cellphone about 25 times so that counts as work. I think I'm coming to the place of mourning food. Most everything is upsetting my baby Sleeve at this point. Even my vitamins came back up. I think I have to get back to some very easy foods that stay down. I know that refried beans are not on the list, but I did have 1/3 cup for dinner with a touch of melted cheese because I needed it to soothe and stay down. It's supposed to be gorgeous tomorrow, so I'm planning an afternoon at the pool. YAY for Friday night!
  25. I didn't bother wearing any undies to the hospital because I knew I wouldn't want to wear them home either. I just showed up in my loose sweats and slip on shoes.
