  1. HHmm... it has been a bit past 2 years for me and the most i have lost is 52lb. right now i believe i have gained back 12lbs. Why?? because i have been sabotaging myself for the last 6 months or so. The band lets me eat "snacks" and funny enought if i get stuck it is with chicken, meat,... the stuff i should be eating.

I do not regreat getting the band...it is not her fault that i have been lazy with going to the gym and have been using the stress of having 3 small kids and finacial struggles as excuses.

I KNOW i need to buckle down and get down to the bussiness of taking care of myself.

Since the band i have given up all Soda and all caffeine. Also bread...but i have not been able to gove up rice and Pasta.

my biggest down fall is that i graise...and calories add up that way.

I have not seen my Dr in over 1 years. I just dont want to hear what i know he will say. Supposebly my band is at 8.5 CC and that is Alot. Even though i can eat alot more that 1cup pf food at a time.

Best of luck with your journey...just remeber that the band is just a Tool and there is always a way to go around it.

  2. So, i just read all of it..i know its been 2 months since...but how is it going?

I have lost 50lbs and i am half way, I already see my husband making comments and doing little things that sabotage my efforts ( bringging home chocolate cupcakes) unfortunally i dont have alot of restriction and that crap can go down just fine. He is talk dark and hansome..maybe 20lbs overweight but he carries it like a football player and we have been married for almost 10 years with 3 small kids.

Anyways, I hope you and your Hot Hubby have talked and he is feeling more secure that you are not going anywhere.

YOur pics are great! you must be so proud

    Vic

This might be a long one - but I need some advice.....

I have a hot husband. So cute. Rocking body. Runs and work outs and dresses fine. We've been together for 16 years. I kind of feel like I have always been the funny, smart one and he is the hot one. And obviously, people who see my often say, OMG Molly, you look great! And I assume this is taking a little toll on him. I also think that, since he is a chef, that we have a connection over food that we no longer really have. I mean, I am down. I go out, I participate, I never say No, I don't want to go. I just don't really eat anymore.

When i ask him, he says, NO BABY, I am happy for you. It's great. But then he says and does other things that are the opposite. For example, he told me yesterday that being skinny is all I ever wanted so I should be happy with that. This was in the middle of an argument. ANd I was like, DUDE, but I want you - you are important to me - I love you and I want our relationship. But he continued to say, who cares about the relationship when you are getting everything you ever wanted. HUH???

And there are other examples... one day we were thinking about going to the gym together and he said, COME ON, but your gym clothes on and let's go let everyone look at your new body. HUH??????

And yesterday, finally, he said, look how skinny you are - wow, soon you'll leave me and find someone else. I know that this is how some people feel - but I was almost this weight when I met him (before I gained 80 lbs) and honestly, the more weight I lose, the more I want him. The more I feel like I match him. The more I want to jump on him. And he's pushing me away.....

Does anyone have experience with this? I am not giving up on him. I like him a lot. I just need to know what to say to him to calm his inner worries and nuture the connection between us. THANKS PEEPS!

  3. hi theresa, how are you doing?

im not doing so well. Since my 1 year anniv in Sept i have had another fill ( dec) and i have only lost 2 lbs...i know exacly why. I have not been working out and i have been gracing alot. It seems i am always in the kitchen preparing something for my 3 small kids...they are always hungry...so, i go ahead and take a bite f this, a bite of that, some crackets...ect

I am dissapointed about myself, not the band. Its like i am sabotaging myself.

Have you gotten back on track???

My goal for 2011 is to llose 33 lbs by my Sept Bday...that would put me at 199...at this point that would put me over the moon!

    hope all is well

I somewhat understand where u are coming from. I have been banded for 2.5 years and only lost 43lbs. I am now starting over and have had a really good week I am determined to work w/my band to lose atleast 43 more pounds. Keep in touch and hopefully we can do this thing.:)

  4. do what you NEED to do to be happy with your self and a good mother to your son. That is the most important thing! I set out to loose 100lbs.. this after it took me over 10 years to gain it....so now that i have only lost 40lbs in almost one year it seems like i have failed. BUt i have to remind myself that i am doing it slowly and safely and now i feel healthier that i have in years. I remember when i weighed 170lbs i was considered the big one, since everyone else in my family had no weight issues....so now that i am obese my family really have not been able to understand why it is taking my time to loose it.

You need to sort out who you want to be in your head, just because you used to be the "fat girl" before did not make u any less worthy.... you deserve the best and give yourself credit for seeing your errors and fixing them/ That takes courage.

    Best of luck to you.

you are strong and dare i say beautiful!!!

  5. pickles.... i feel fustrated too.

    I was banded in SEPT 30th 2009.

Since then i have had 6 fills and still very little restriction. I have lost 40 lbs and that makes me happy. But to be honest with all the changes i have made in my daily life i thought i would be much closer to my goal ( -100 lbs)

I think the band is a Tool that compliments a DIET.

I try not to dreprive myself of nothing, becuase from experiance that is how past diets haved failed!!

I have a lot of support from my family and it helps that my 6 year old daughter tell me that i am "melting"

One thing i want to stop doing is getting on the scale so much... in the last 3 months i have been stuck. I want to focus on how my clothes fit.

I am not going to give up... I have 3 young kids that depend on me to be healthy so that i can take care of them.

Best of luck with your new band!

  6. What was the date of your surgery?sept 30 2009

How healthy did you/do you eat? eating well 80% of the time

How much do you exercise? on average 3 times a week. elliptical for 40-60 min or untill it tells me i have burned 500 + calories

How much have you lost? 40 lbs

Are you happy with your results? im fustrated but hopefull, since i know i am not at my sweet spot. i have very little restriction. My Goal right now is to loose a total of 50 lbs by sept 30 2010!!!

  7. Hi Miss.

I was banded in Sept /09 and so far i have lost only 40lbs. In the last 4 months i have basically not lost at all.

Just yeasterday i had my 5th fill and i have 7.8 CC in my band. I hope this gives me some restriction since i have had none in the last 8 months.

It has been very very difficult to give up my old habbits. I am home all the time with my 3 small kids and it seems i spend a hell of alot of time in the kitchen getting Snacks, drinks, meals ready and so i start munching without really noticing.

I am a "crunchy carb" junky!!! and i am coming to realize that i am sabotaging myself all the time. It has been really hard not to drink while i sit for a meal but i am trying.

I have not touched sodas, caffeinne and bread since the band. But im sitll eating rice, a little past and just eating between meals. I am not perfect, no one is.

THIS WILL TAKE TIME... it took me 10 years to gain 100 lbs i should not expect to loose it in 1 year.

Do not get discouraged and do not be shy to go to the Dr for a fill. you may have to hear a speech in what you should be doing.

But i believe you have to have restriction to make this work.

right now i am in liquids for a few days,, but i hope that by monday when i do to eat my lunch i will feel i cant eat much...

    Good luck and CHIN up!

    Vic

  8. WAIT!! you got banned less that 3 months ago and you have already lost a total of 65lbs!!?!? that is incredible. Do not put yourself down.

I do suggest you increase you calories and Protein intake. I eat 4-5 small meals/snacks a day...i have a crazy "stay at home with kids" kinda life and i almost never have the time or opportunity to sit at the table and eat.

I have been loosing very slowly and that is partly because im not keeping to my new eating habbints 100% .Even if a screw up one day i get up the next starting from scratch!

I am almost 5 months post op and have lost about 32lbs...still have about 80lbs to go. My 10CC band is filled to 5CC and i am not feeling any restriction.I try to keep temptation away but its hard when i spend so much time in the kitchen making meals/snacks for my family.

good luck to you...and remember that "slow and steady is better"

  9. Starting size : 24W Top 3x

Current size : 20 getting into the the stash of smaller clothes i have kept for years:rolleyes2:

I am feeling... encoureged, slowly feeling younger.Cant wait to feel sexy again

I need to work on .... working out, getting my sciatica in control , getting to my sweet spot...and getting rid of my BELLY!

My goal size is : 14 top Large

I have had 2 fills and right now i dont feel much restriction. I am hungry every 3 hours and Yes i snack. I spend alot of time in the kitchen making meals and Snacks for my 3 small kids.

I hate the scale... i think looking for changes with my pants is a better way.

  10. I am a mom of 3year old twin boys...and a 6 year old daughter.

I am also about 5 months post op and the Band has helped me. The weight is coming off slowly just because my days are busy with the kids and i can only find 3-4 hours a week to work out ( usually before anyone wakes up). In total i have 100 lbs to loose ( cannot blame it on my pregnacies) I have lost about 30lbs.

How fast you can loose it depends on your body, you wouldnt want to loose it too fast.

it is a huge lifestyle change... a challenge for me has been keeping to my new eating routine while also making meals for my kids and husband.

    Congrats!! twins are a blessing.

    Good luck

  11. I am almost 5 months post op. I miss food!!!

i have 3 small kids and a husband that i still need to feed so i am in the kitchen alot preparing meals and Snacks. Have i been 100% faithfull to my new way of eating?? no. I have had bad days where i eat here and there and then ask myself why? i wasnt really hungry.

food habbiits ar HARD to get rid of and i have to remind myself that it will take time to adjust, specially psycologically.

I do not regret getting the band. because i know once i get over the hill i will see and feel the healthier ME.

    Good luck

  12. Hi Every one,

Well i am 4 weeks Post op and i have gone out to eat 2 times. Both times it took me a while to find something on the menu. The 1st time i ordered meatballs at a highend place, which i only had 1 and left the Pasta alone...expensive meal ($17++) It took me over 1 hour to eat the large meatball...my friends were in shock. they were eating about 6 times as much. The second time i ordered grilled chicken and mash potatoes, i only had 1/3 of that. It took me a while to chew on the chicken:tongue: It is hard not to drink while sitting at a table, i love Water and i always feel the need to drink some.

Im getting my first fill in 2 weeks...a week before thanksgiving...and we r having it at my house.... any advise?? will i have to be on liquids that day? I really dont want to choke on a piece of turkey:eek:

    1. Can you feel the device once it's in? I am 2 weeks out and still healing. I dont feel the band but the port is right over my bellybuton and i can feel it.
    2. Any complications at all? (I know it's different for everyone, but still...) once they got in they found i had a hernia, they fixed it but the surgery took a little longer and some extra internal stitches...so when i woke up i did feel pain..but nothing the drugs did not help
    3. Ladies: Can you take birth control afterwards? I'm using Yaz right now...will they put me on something different? I am sure. I already had my kids and had my Tubes tide
    4. Sex: When can you start up again, and is it safe...? ( Not quite sure how to ask that without sounding like a complete idiot! lol... ) HHmm.. lets just say that it has been 2 weeks and i have not felt sexy,,maybe it is the bandages covering part of my insicions...i still feel swollen
    5. Did you experience a lot of vomiting? no jet.
    6. Will you ever be able to eat food? I just had my 2 weekd post off appt and i was given the go ahead to go on soft foods...i was so happy!!! but i almost overdidi ti. THe liquid diet was hell fo rme, i am not a good drinker of warm/hot liquids and all those sweet Protein Drinks yuck!
    7. Right after surgery, what did they give you for nourishment? Followed by a week-to-week deal? 24 hours of sipping water...once out fo the hospital pure clear liquid diet
    8. How much weight did you lose within the first month? I know it's slow and healthy weight loss, but do you feel like it goes quickly? In the 2 weeks i have lost 10 lbs. I am in no rush, so i am hoping to loose 2 lbs a week
    9. Any change in emotions? (Not hormonal, just all around feeling great - confidence?) YEs, i still dont see much chance so my emotions change to day to day...but i do not regret it.

Whatever decision you make it will be the correct one for yourself. Dont let anyone influence you.

    Take care

  13. hi everyone. I am a stay @ home mom with a weekend desk job. I plan to take it easy for a week with the help of my mother since i was told not to lift anything over 10lbs and my twin boys weight 3 times as much.

My surgeon told me not to go to my desk job for the first weekend cuz the insicions site will be tender and sitting 8 hours at a desk would be uncomfortable and he does not want me driving while on meds.

Im going under the knife on WED!!! i was told to loose 10lbs but i have only lost 2...they would not cancel the surgery for that??????
