Hey Guys!
I planned on driving 20 miles to the hospital; having my surgery and driving back home. I have a sneaking suspicion that that is not going to happen.

ticker?
It doesn't work in blogs. You have to post in the forums to see it work. Or just go to "User CP" and in Settings & Options, click on "Edit Signature" Where you originally posted the code, you should see your ticker. If you want to put a ticker in the blog, you can paste the code every time I think

R U Kidding me!?!?!
Have you ever checked out the Bodybugg? It tells you how many calories you are burning. You enter exactly what you have eaten on their site and it calculates the difference in calories consumed and burned. It is a great help. Check it out at bodybugg.com. It is not cheap, $250 but well worth it to me.

this has nothing to do with surgery
It's real easy. - Create the ticker at Graphical Tickers and Trackers: Weight Loss, Trying To Conceive, Pregnancy... - Copy the code it creates in the bbCode box - Then on LapBandTalk (this site) click on "User CP" - Then in Settings & Options, click on "Edit Signature" - Paste the code you copied and click Submit

sleep centers are a scam
I have my CPAP sleep over next Tuesday. I know I have sleep apnea and I'll take anything that will help.

How many calories do you eat daily to lose weight?
I'm consuming about 2000 calories a day and still losing 5 lbs a week. I have not been banded yet. I am hoping the band will help me keep it off. If you have $200 American to spare, check out BODYBUGG :: WELCOME. With the Bodybugg you can see how many calories you are burning. It makes it easier to see what you can eat.

Can my goals be achieved?
Well, you may. I can and have lost 108 pounds (49 kg) in a matter of 18 months through diet and exercise. Only to gain 128 pounds (58 kg) back in half that time. I am hoping that the Lapband will help me keep any weight that I lose off. What I was trying to say is don't wait until February and hope you lose enough. Get a headstart and make the odds better.

Can my goals be achieved?
It seems a little aggressive to me if you are going to wait until February. You could probably do it if you started dieting today and just aimed at losing 1-2 kg a week until your surgery.

BCBS of IL 24 Months of Weight Loss Attempts
Aetna asks for the same thing. The doctors office just told me to get proof of my weight in the form of my medical records for the last 2 years and that should suffice. I still have 3 month to go. So, I can't be certain that is enough.

just got the hospital bill

Ticker or no ticker?
Mine doesn't show up here but it does if I post in the regular forums.

Hit the fast forward button!
Are you drinking 64+ ounces of water a day? Are you urinating and having bowel movements on a regular basis? You have to wash away those calories you've burned. The weight loss in week 2 is usually small on The Biggest Loser as well. Stay positive and stay away from the scale!!!

What to tell family and friends about your decision for WLS
True, but losing weight and keeping it off is the goal. As mentioned above, you are not lying if you tell people that you lost the weight by eating smaller portions and exercising. The coaches, whether they be self-appointed or not can assist you with the diet and exercise and have no need to know you've got a Lapband.

Psych Consult
I had mine on Tuesday. Filled out the 9 page form that was mailed to me prior. Sat there and answered personal questions for over an hour. Then she made another appointment for me for tomorrow to fill out some questionnaire that she said may take 2 hours. Of course being the trouble maker I am, I gave her way more information than she expected just to try and get a reaction from her

What to tell family and friends about your decision for WLS
This may be off-base but why do so many people feel that they are obligated to tell anyone anything? Actually, having a dirty little secret may even make it more fun. On another note, who cares what others think?

This is what I am looking forward to most!!
- Putting socks and shoes on without working up a sweat. - Fitting into the rides at the amusement park. - Walking the dogs instead of just throwing them in the backyard. - Having the tray-table on the airplane come down flat. - Not needing for the extension seat belt on the plane. - Seeing parts of my body I haven't seen in years. (my feet, you have a dirty mind.) :wink2: PS. Until you lose the weight, fly business class on Air Tran. It's usually as cheap as 2 coach tickets.

Is dieting supposed to burn?
Thanks for the reply. I am looking at January too. If all goes well, I will get my surgery date on January 6th. I plan on losing 50 pounds before that.

12 months since my band fitted need help?
Do you know what triggers your over-eating or need to cheat the system? It is depression that does it to me and with a couple of pills every day, I am able to keep my head on straight and do what I am supposed to do. Seek out a therapist or psychiatrist and see if you can get your head straight, the rest will hopefully follow. You're not weak, your wiring just needs a little work.

Is dieting supposed to burn?
I started to diet with the aid of a Bodybugg a week ago. I basically just cut down on the portions I was eating and stopped with the fried Snacks. I've lost about 10 pounds and my stomach is beginning to burn. It goes away for a while after eating or drinking. I've been on hundreds of diets and it has always been the same. Is that burn what hunger feels like? Is it a bad thing? It is the fat being burned?

Bodybugg - useful or just another expensive toy?
I'm not sure yet. I haven't had much any pain but then again, I won't have the stress of work for a few more weeks. I'm hoping it will help by getting some of the burden off of it. Thanks for asking!!

Psych Eval and sleep study yesterday
I told the therapist way more than she needed to hear. It was just a lot of stuff I needed to get off of my chest and she didn't seem to mind. I used up the whole hour and she had to schedule another appointment on Friday so we could finish. The sleep study wasn't much fun but it beat trying to sleep with an IV in like last weekend. I think I got about 2.5 hours sleep in the 7.5 hours I was there. I have a hard enough time trying to get comfortable in bed without wires all over the place. I don't know what either of these have to do with lapbanding but it's good that I am getting them out of the way early.

New to this
There are a lot of people waiting and even more that did their wait and have been banded. So, you definitely have plenty of people to talk to that have been on both sides.

New to this
Try to control your excitement a little bit. It is a bit of a slow process if you are looking for insurance to pay for the surgery. You will be waiting at least another 3.5 months following your initial consultation. I had my first appointment on September 18th and won't even get a surgery date until my appointment on January 6th. Others have to wait 6 months. Good luck

Bodybugg - useful or just another expensive toy?
I've got OCD and you don't get much more compulsive than me. Whether it be gambling, shopping, drinking or eating, I have little control. I also have a thing for statistics. So, when a friend of mine showed me her Bodybugg and the numbers it keeps; I immediately went online and ordered one. It came Wednesday and yesterday was my first full day of stats. I am a little skeptical about the results. Calories burned: 4,887 Calories consumed: 1,726 That is 3161 more calories burned than consumed. That is nearly a full pound (3,500 cals) The part I am skeptical about is the calories burned. The majority of the day I was lounging around reading this forum or watching Judge Judy. In between I walked about 2 miles.
