  1. Good news: I'm finally going to be banded on Tuesday and I'll be a full-fledged member of the club, not just a pledge any more. Bad news: I wanted to drop 100 pounds before banding and it is looking like it will only be between 93 and 95 pounds. No more people telling me that my advice is bad because I am not banded. Now they'll have to tell me that I don't know anything because I haven't had a fill yet. Knowledge is a bad thing in some people's hands. I can't wait to be stuck; slime and BP. I am sick of hearing about it, I need to do it!
  2. Carmen, I'll trade with you. :wink2:
  3. The lapband guide that my surgeon gave me at my pre-op appointment is only about 20 pages and I think it says that women should get 50 and men 63 grams of Protein at least 30 times throughout the booklet. So, I think the answer is 50 as Denise mentioned.
  4. I just wanted to weigh in with the majority. It would defeat the purpose of being banded in the first place.
  5. I am 45 and pretty compared to a lot of the folks here. I'd bet that at least 10% of the people here are 50+
  6. There was a bit of animosity over this earlier this week. We definitely need a better word than "cheating" to describe a little nibble outside of a diet.
  7. Hi Pam, I realize I am a month late with this but there are hundreds of batriatric surgeons 30 miles south of Denton in the DFW metroplex. Click this link: LapBandTalk.com - LapBand Surgeon Search and plug in your zip code.
  8. I just figured out that I may be "Brian". Thanks!! The "B" is actually for "Bob" but I have been called much worse than Brian... within the past hour or so. :cursing:
  9. I have been doing nothing but Optifast shakes for 20 days now and have not been hungry at all. I refuse to think of hunger or what I am not eating. I am focused solely on the end result and it is working. It helps that Optifast is delicious! It will get easier, just keep your eye on the prize!
  10. Congrats!! To be honest I have no clue what all those size numbers are all about because we (men) measure our clothing by how many Xs come before the L. But it sounds like a really good thing and I'm happy for you!! Don't go too crazy buying clothes that will be too big for you in a week or two.
  11. Congrats and good luck!! May will be here in no time. September to March flew by like it was a few hours for me.
  12. My pre-op diet was supposed to be a month long but because my surgery date moved a couple of times; it ended up being only 22 days. Today is day 20. I am drinking only Optifast shakes and don't mind. I've lost 16 pounds during pre-op so far and have not been hungry at all. I have not and will not cheat because I am stubborn and the only person I'd be cheating is myself.
  13. Congrats!! The time will fly by and you will be excited about how much weight you'll drop in the next 14 days.
  14. Congrats on the weight loss. I asked my surgeon's office which weight they send to insurance company at least a half dozen times. Each time I got the same answer; the starting weight. I am having surgery on Tuesday and will be down about 95 pounds from the time I started this journey. Check with your surgeon's office to make sure it is the starting weight that counts and then lose what you can. Don't sit around stuffing your face until it is pre-op time and then complain that it is so hard because you didn't practice for it.
  15. Thanks! For those who didn't notice, you can click the number in the third column or here: LAP-BAND To see who is having surgery on what day.
  16. I don't agree with this at all. Most of us can and have lost weight on our own but fail to keep it off. I also think that if you don't have the willpower to lose some weight on your own, you may lack the discipline required to make the lapband work successfully.
  17. It's not our fault that the February 2008 people didn't make a poll to keep score. :cursing:
  18. Check in here: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f22472/march-2010-only-please-110733/ and select your surgery date. This way we can keep all the Marchies and their surgery dates straight.
  19. Been drinking just Optifast shakes for 19 days now and am down 16 pounds since I started. I drink 5 a day. One every 3 hours and I haven't been hungry. Look out if you are prone to constipation though. It makes for some rock hard turds. Where are you moving to in Dallas?
  20. I think that just turns it off for new threads. To shut it off for ones you are already subscribed to; go here: LAP-BAND Check the box under notification; got to the bottom of the page and select "no e-mail"
  21. A couple of my meds give me dry mouth. There are all kinds of over the counter products to fight it. Check out this article Questions and Answers About Dry Mouth
  22. It's only a week Bob and it will fly by. I was supposed to be banded in January and an extra 6 or 7 weeks didn't hurt.
  23. Thanks!!! That is comforting.
  24. Congrats!! If you take one down and pass it around, please don't pass it this way.
  25. Good luck!! That makes at least 6 of us that I know of having surgery on Tuesday. I just loaded up on Gas-X strips and filled my pain prescription.
