Just signed up for Lapband Talk and can't find the "ticker." Hard enough to find the profile stuff. Can anyone tell me where it is?
I just created a simple, step by step, how-to post: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/topic/120058-creating-a-ticker-under-new-lay-out/

You have to put it in perspective. It is for a relatively short time, not forever.
Stop saying you can't do it and repeat to yourself over and over, "I can do this!"
Whenever you get the urge to nibble, go brush your teeth. Nobody nibbles with freshly brushed teeth.

Thanks for the response I was actually asking not about what shakes you used, but why you were on a liquid diet for two weeks PRIOR to your surgery? As far as I recollect, no one's mentioned anything like that to me. Was it a liver shrinking thing?
Most people have a pre-op diet to shrink their liver. Mine was 3 weeks of nothing but Protein shakes.< /p>
Those that don't, consider themselves lucky. I think it is a misfortune. They are missing out on valuable post band practice.

This thread has laid dormant for 2 and a half years until this morning.
I agree whole-heartedly with the original poster.
Poor people are not all bad but they live in very unsafe neighborhoods.
I grew up in Brockton, MA which is arguably only a tiny step up from Lowell as far as crime goes. Neither of which compares to some of the inner city neighborhoods in Atlanta that the original poster was referring to or any other large metropolitan area.

Oh, I love this idea! I'm definitely gonna have to make one myself.
It's makes for convenient graphing. Like I said, I'm a geek.

Wow! I just noticed your weightloss ticker--awesome! I remember when you were just getting ready to have the band--and it doesn't seem like it was even a year ago--now look at you with just 33 lbs to go! I'd say that's pretty great (even if this "great guy" thread wasn't about you--ha ha!)! Congratulations!
Thanks.
My panniculectomy is next week. Hopefully, that will bring me 10+ pounds closer to goal.

I'm a geek and love numbers. They also help me keep motivated.
I'm attaching mine. Where's yours?
The black line on March second marks my surgery date. The 10 pound drop in early December is what I am predicting after my panniculectomy on December 3rd.

I have good weeks and bad weeks. I have weeks where I gain 5 pounds. I just keep my head up and do what I know I am supposed to.
I forgot password to my web domain. So, I am going to try and attach my progress table directly here.
My surgery was March 2, 2010. Please note that my weight loss slowed at that time instead of increasing.
The gray stuff at the bottom is predictions. There is a big dip next week because I am having my panniculectomy.< /p>

Congrats!!!!
Awesome change!! You look so much younger now too.

Congrats!!!!!
Keep your head up high, take it one step at a time and set many mini-goals. 295, 290, 285, etc... Before long you'll be under 200.
-
Congrats on your progress!!
One shouldn't expect to lose any weight that one doesn't work to lose.
Ones fills do not make one lose weight. One eating right and exercising makes ones lose the weight.

I opened this thread expecting it to be about me.
Oh, the disappointment.

I hate change as much as the next old fart but I am getting used to it.
They have gone way, way overboard in the advertising department.

Thanks for the response.
You're right. I just need to call Dr. Kim's office. I just feel like I have stupid questions, but I know they will answer anything I ask.
There is NO such thing as a stupid question! Especially when it comes to your health and well-being!

First, men seem to have fewer pain issues. Personally, I found the whole experience pleasant. I've had none no real pain issues. I got good drugs at the hospital and at home and took them.
That's a slap in the face to all of those women that say, "If men were the ones that had to give birth, the human race would die off."

Im just wondering, what are you doing to lose. I know you lost alot even before the band. Are you feeling restriction, are you exercising regularly? I havent lost for a while(I dont think, I only weigh myself at the drs) and I know I need to exercise but I cant find the time and especially the motivation. I dont feel close to restriction, when I chew properly I can eat a good amount. My attitude is that hopefully Ill have restriction soon, I go for a fill in Dec and Im going to ask my dr to be a little more aggressive this time. At this time Im just not ready to starve myself(diet) to lose, Im content on waiting until I feel more restriction. Hopefully very soon. Hopefully that will motivate me to find time to exercise more regularly. Ive lost about 50# since March, most in the first month. Right now Im not sweating my slow loss, Im attributing it to no restriction. I was just curious to see what others are doing to lose weight. Right now I just feel like I didnt do this to diet, I did this to restrict the volume of my intake which is not happening yet.
Bob,
Congrats on the 50 pounds!! That in itself is no small feat.
I am doing nothing special. I am on no funky diets and haven't been inside a gym in 3+ years.
- I try to keep calories between 1,200 - 1,500 a day.
- Eat only 3 meals and seldom skip Breakfast.
- Take the low fat, low sodium alternatives when they are available.
- Drink more than a half gallon of Water a day.
- Don't drink with or directly following a meal.
- Take small bites and chew like crazy.
- Try to walk at least 3 - 5 miles a day.
- Most importantly, I keep a positive can-do attitude (even when I gain a few pounds)
I honestly don't know or care how much I can eat. I've never tested it. I try to stop eating when I am satiated. Sometimes it comes after 2 chicken wings. Other times 8.
I understand the motivation thing. I have/had the same issue. I think we all do but I have 2 gigantic dogs that need walking even when I am not motivated. Hence, I conquered that one. Let's face it: not having time is as lame an excuse as they come. You don't have to go and workout for an hour or even 15 minutes straight. Find a bunch of 5 minute periods here and there and walk around the house, office, supermarket, etc...
If you have stairs close by, take a couple of minutes to climb them.
If we have time to read and post here, we have time to talk short walks.
Find a partner, whether it be your wife, a friend or a coworker that will motivate you to get up and walk around. As I mentioned, I have to walk my dogs at home but I also have a few guys at work that I take a short walk around the office with. It only takes one to get the others up and out.
YOU CAN DO THIS!! I was a lazy fat slob (now I am just a lazy slob) and I am positive that if I can do it, anyone can!
Hi Kelly and thanks for the kind words. I spend entirely too much time on Facebook these days.
Now back to our regularly scheduled thread on pain. I apologize for the brief hijack

You don't have to explain anything. It is nobody's business.
They probably won't notice anyways unless you bring it up. People usually care less what others are eating or how much.

Having my panniculectomy in 8 and a half days and a not worried about scarring nor the fact that I will no longer have a belly button.
It's good to be a guy!
-
Congrats!!!
I have 3/10s of a pound to go before I can be declared legally overweight

I can't remember buying a pull over in the past 25 years without multiple Xs in the size. These days I am wearing a regular large and they are a little baggy on me.
My panniculectomy is scheduled for next Friday. I have been wearing pants that are 12 - 16 inches too big for me and can't wait to buy some that fit. I wasn't going to waste money on new pants just to use them for a month or 2.
-
I am not lying when I say, "I felt no pain at all!"
I am having a panniculectomy next week and expecting some pain with that. Luckily, I still have the pain killers I didn't need. So, I can use them after that.

Congrats on your progress and you are right on the money!
We have to work with it, it doesn't do anything without us helping.
