    Too fat to graduate

That is not going to happen. It is just the current hot political topic. There are too many smart, working people in this country to let it happen.

    how many calories for men

I consume about 1,500 a day and am dropping 3 - 5 pounds a week. It all depends on how active you are as well as your age and weight. I have a Bodybugg and it makes it a lot easier to know what needs to be done. It tells me how many calories I am burning and I can either work harder or eat less.
  3. Wow! Sounds like you are doing everything right. If you do find out something is missing, please post it because I am curious. Have you considered a device like the Bodybugg to tell you how many calories you are burning? It's not cheap but it helped me a lot.
  4. It is not really a balanced meal. Sorry, but where are the fruit and/or vegetables? Onions, peppers or mushrooms would have been great additions. How about some sort of melon?
  5. She may be just trying to keep you from getting depressed by telling you what you want to hear. This is not necessarily what you need to hear. Tell her to be honest with you. Sometimes we need a kick in the ass to see reality. My latest was a heart attack at 45.
  6. nellie, You posted what you are eating and all sounds good but what kind of exercise regimen are you on? Your body adjusts to what you are eating and the activity you do daily. You need to change it up. Also, how much Water are you drinking? Believe it or not, if you don't drink enough water, the weight will not come off.
  7. Prove it. Just kidding. I figured it out by the amount calories you are consuming. Women burn far less calories than we do. I doubt anything would be lost by a normal woman consuming 2,600 calories a day. The original poster and and anyone that thinks they are doing everything right and still not losing weight should look into investing in a Bodybugg. It will tell you how many calories you are burning. Then you enter what you're eating on their website and they do the calculations for you. It is working for me. I am burning an average of 4,000 a day and eating less than 2,000. I'm dropping 3-5 pounds a week and won't be banded until February.

    Approval??

Is this your initial consultation with the surgeon? Have you not had any kind of waiting period or other appointments? If so, sit back and enjoy the ride. It's probably going to be a while. I had my initial consultation on 9/18/09 and they scheduled me for a nutritionist; psychologist; sleep study; a follow up with them for the next 3 months and a final consultation on 1/06/10. I was told that my paperwork would be submitted to the insurance company on January 6th or 7th and I would probably be scheduled for surgery in early February if all goes well.

    Too fat to graduate

I quit reading after the second paragraph. It is a horrible program no matter what the rest of the article says. It is discriminatory that only those with a BMI over 30 have to take this course. I may be all for it if it were all students.

    Need help

Have you sought therapy? If it's in your head, that would be your best bet. You have the Lapband in place and know what needs to be done but can't do it in your current mental state. Talk to a shrink or psychologist. I prefer shrinks, they have script pads :w00t:

    Sleep Study Test

No!! They will make you do a second sleep study with a CPAP and then sign you up for a CPAP. It will not interfere with surgery date.
  12. Not necessarily, it means Marmar is working! Great job Marmar!

    How do you know?

I said it tongue in cheek but honestly, I don't think I look bad even at 200 pounds overweight. I think it is a male/female thing. Everyone else responding seems to be female and worries about how they look. I guess men worry about other things.

    How do you know?

    I always look good!
  15. I never called you dumb, I thought you may be a little confused but not dumb. This thread is about counting calories. I count both those that I consume and those that I use. So, I am twice as on topic as those that just count the ones on the package. :wink2: According to Buford (my Bodybugg) I burn anywhere from 3,400 to 5,100 calories a day. Using the standard BMR calculation I would burn between 3,900 and 4,600. Those numbers are close enough for me but with the Bodybugg, I don't have to do any math or worse yet, decide whether I was sedentary, a little active or a lot active every day. One way or the other, counting how many calories going one way is basically useless unless you count those going the other way as well.

    bulimia

I'm pretty sure it is impossible to binge once you've had sufficient fills unless you are talking binge drinking.
  17. And this somehow tells you how many calories you are burning? The Bodybugg tells you how many calories you are using not how many you are consuming. I can do that without the pen and paper.
  18. Neither the doctor, nutritionist nor trainer can tell you how many calories you are burning 24 hours a day. The Bodybugg can and it is a lot cheaper than the 3 alternatives you named.
  19. What good is counting how many calories you are consuming if you have nothing to compare it to? If you get a Bodybugg, it tells you how many calorie you are burning and then you can find out the ideal calorie intake for yourself and how many calories you should be consuming to lose a specific amount of weight.

    Help bypass or lapband

I think almost everyone here had the same question at least one point in their journey. I will have my surgery in early February and am only 95% sure I want Lapband. My decision is based on the fact that if Lapband doesn't work for me, I can always go back for bypass. You can't do it in the opposite order. Most insurance companies won't cover the Sleeve. Make sure you check with your before wasting your time researching it.
  21. In my very humble opinion, diets and weightloss programs are a waste of time and in a lot of cases, money. You want to lose the weight and keep it off for the rest of your life. How many diets have you stayed on forever? How much is a lifetime subscription to Jenny Craig or Nutrisystem? The key is in eating moderate portions and exercising. I've dropped almost 50 pounds since mid September and won't be banded until early February if I am lucky. I've been monitoring not only how many calories I am consuming but also how many calories I am burning with the help of "Buford" my Bodybugg. Thus far, I have not felt like I am starving myself or missing out on anything.

    Am i a failure?

Sounds like your doctor has boat payments to make if he is only filling you 1 cc at a time. I am not banded yet but in reading here, many people require 8 or more ccs. It may seem like it is taking forever but sooner or later you will get to the correct restriction. Look on the bright side, you haven't gained any weight.

    Biggest Loser Fall 09

It's not as difficult as women think for a fat man to lose 1 pound a day. With a 2 hour workout and weighing in at 300 lbs he probably burns 5,000 calories a day. All he had to do is keep calorie consumption to less than 1,500 a day. Having their Bodybuggs made this a lot easier for them. I still can't believe Liz finished a marathon in under 7.5 hours. On top of that, she slowed down to wait for Dnny the whole way.
  24. I had a cardiac cath and stents place in my coronary arteries in September while just drugged. The procedure lasted about 90 minutes and all I remember is the first 30 seconds or so. I wasn't completely unconscious per se, but I was wasn't awake either. In my opinion, there wasn't much difference between this and the couple of times I was completely anesthetized.

    I hate fat people!!!

So, you are better than the other fat slobs because you have make-up on? Ever hear the old adage about putting lipstick on a pig?
