Bacon Salt... the best thing I've discovered!
btrieger replied to WonderWmn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I thought BaconSalt was the brand I think. I guess it is "J&D" J & D's - Everything Should Taste Like Bacon: Products -
Hmm, where do I start? (sorry so long)

You know what you have to do and you know that your obsession with WoW is taking up too much of your time. Try replacing it with a healthier obsession. Or get involved with another group of online friends that only play 10 hours a week instead of 15. You're a CPA so you may be interested in tracking metrics. Get a Bodybugg to tell you how many calories you are burning every day and you can compare that with the food you're going to log. -
Gaining weight to so insurance will pay for Lap Band
btrieger replied to mondk's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Come now, are you really informed enough to form and opinion on a country that is half-way around the world's medical system? Our healthcare system is just fine. This taxpayer is willing to take his chances and wait until later. Maybe by then they will have dispatched Medicare or at least closed the loopholes in the disability laws. -
My Pantyhose keep rolling down...

Good, old-fashioned suspenders or duct tape under your clothing can help. Fat guys have the same problem with our underwear but thankfully our pants keep them from falling too low. -
Bacon Salt... the best thing I've discovered!

Kroger and Albertson's carry it in North Texas. -
Elfie, You should probably feel flattered to get the instant message. I tend to be extremely opinionated on the board and nobody bothers to try and help me via IM. :scared2:

North Fort Worth here. I am am 2 months into my 3 month waiting period. Paperwork will be submitted to Aetna on January 6ht and I hope to be banded the first week of February. I've had my CPAP for 3+ weeks now and have only been able to keep it on throughout the night twice. I tear it off in the middle of the night. I remember doing it almost every time but can't keep myself from doing it. I am still skeptical about the CPAP making me sleep better.

Patty will get her reprimand in the hereafter. Only God can judge her. :scared2:

Elfiepoo, Screw them! Everybody is entitled to their opinion. We are all very different people. I've openly disagreed with you on a couple of topics and never felt that you were belittling me. Nor have I seen you personally attacking anyone. If they don't like what you say or how you say it, they can skip your posts.

There is a big difference between what they charge for medical assistance depending upon if you are insured or paying out of pocket. There is a lot of bureaucracy and extra work involved when dealing with insurance companies and HMOs. I think this is the first time I have seen the numbers quoted for an insurance covered fill but I bet it is about average. The self pays are paying between $100 and $200 for fills according to what I've read here.

? about doc supervisied diet results
btrieger replied to ErikaBerry's topic in Insurance & Financing
Gaining weight will make you less likely to be approved! I have yet to be banded and will probably be down 70+ pounds by the time my 3 months are up. I have asked them the same question every time I visit the surgeon's office and always get the same reply. They use the starting weight and BMI when they submit to the insurance companies. The supervised diet is to make sure that you are willing to change because the band is only a tool and it is you that will be doing the real work. -
Anyone have a friend/relative that was totally against the surgery?
btrieger replied to gingerjane's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am no psychologist but I would be willing to bet that she is in denial about WLS helping her lose weight and doesn't want you to get it and prove her wrong. WLS if a big step and you are changing your life forever. Anybody that is going to tell you that it is a mistake when what you need is support is only going to do you harm. -
Gaining weight to so insurance will pay for Lap Band

The poster is looking to scam an insurance company but it is not an insurance company at all. It is the American tax payer. Please get your hand out my pocket!! -

Drop your "friend" like a bad habit. She is nothing more than a hindrance to your well-being. -
I know what you meant but it seemed like it may give Patty comfort and we can't have that. :scared2:

Speak for yourself. I am and I'm not alone. :scared2: The fact that there are so many delusional adults that still believe in that crap scares me.

I think Rebeca looked kind of trashy with the blond hair and not in the good way. I'm glad Danny won too because I have disliked Rudy since he voted Shay out.

Approved for Lapband....How long until the day?
btrieger replied to minibikepilot's topic in The Guys’ Room
I don't think anyone has answered you original question yet. It will be 5 to 8 months from now. Plenty of time to think about and make sure you are ready. What you are calling approval is probably only the fact that you fit the criteria for approval. After your initial consultation with the surgeon, his office will set you up with an appointment to see a nutritionist or dietitian. From that day on you are on what is referred to as a supervised diet. Most insurance companies require 3 to 6 months of supervised diet. During this time, you will probably have to get a psych eval and sleep test done. They will probably also be looking for any proof of wight you have for the last 2 years like doctor visits or whatever. You'll find out a lot more during the consultation. Don't be shy, ask the surgeon or his staff all of the questions you can think of. -

PLEaSE SOMEONE TELL ME ??????
btrieger replied to NouraShuman's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
for most of us the only way to prevent the loose skin is to stay fat and that obviously isn't an option if we are here. Quite a few people have asked about this prior to even starting the banding process. I'd think it would be the last worry on anyone's mind. There are surgeries to take care of loose skin but that is something you should worry about after you've lost the weight. -
Help bypass or lapband
btrieger replied to dyingtobethin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think it is discussing bypass that gets some people here's blood boiling. It is the way that some people come across. For instance, some come in with the attitude that people that got banded didn't do their homework first and know nothing of bypass. Others come in just trying to cause friction by alluding to bypass being better than banding. It's all in the context that you bring it up. -
Did you look in the closet and under the bed?

Can't lose the weight! Help!
btrieger replied to Jamie!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your surgeon is obviously not a dietitian and I am willing to bet that he/she does not follow rule #1 and shouldn't be suggesting it to you. Cutting out carbs all together will only make you crave them more. When you finally have had enough of this fad diet and start eating carbs like a "normal" person, you will gain the weight you lost back and maybe even more because it will have altered your metabolism. Rule #2 doesn't sit right with me either. Protein shakes are slider foods. They will not make you full until the next meal. #3 is right on. This is why everyone suggests we get second opinions. Your surgeon should not be pretending to a nutritionist any more than a nutritionist should be operating on anyone.
