My surgeon is David Kim. He airs local TV commercials. I was shopping around and he was the first I went with. I love the staff in his office. They are knowledgeable and have been nothing but helpful. I was supposed to have a date on January 6th but my cardiologist didn't not cross all of his Ts and dot his Is. Hopefully I will hear sometime this week. I am planning on surgery being early February. I'm dropping weight in preparation as well. I want the lapband to be my safety net. So, I don't put it back on...again

It could also be the time of day that you weighed yourself or using 2 different scales. I only expect to drop 6-8 pounds in my two week pre-op because I have modified my eating habits.

I could live without ever eating a steak but don't you dare tell me that the band ruins scallops. Those succulent, sweet, expensive mollusks are in my top 10, perhaps 5 foods. I bought a pound of sea scallops last night and ate all of them. Once banded, I am hoping to at least enjoy a half pound of them on occasion.

Guilty as charged as far as abrasive goes but I would call it being frank. I treat everybody the way that I would like to be treated. Don't beat around the bush, patronize me or offer pity. Just give me the facts if you know them or your honest opinion. Fills do NOT trigger weight loss. The consumption of less calories is what trigger the loss. Even if the fill is what makes you consume less, it is not what causes the weight loss. It may just be semantics but some people don't seem to get the whole concept. And lastly, I'm not even newly banded yet. :w00t:

I am outside of either realm and won't vote for a candidate in either major party. I've been called conservative because I don't want the government giving my tax dollar to any lazy yahoo that begs for it. Yet I donate plenty to charity. I've been called liberal because I think gays should have the same rights that straights do and because I think a woman should have the right to abort an unwanted pregnancy. Yet, I don't think my tax dollar should pay for either.

TN, I don't think you can split people into only 2 groups based on their ideologies. If I had to think narrow-mindedly and choose either conservative or liberal, I would definitely choose conservative. A liberal would expect the government to take the 1,200 kids shopping on my tax dollar.

What everyone else said plus: You have to take supplements for the rest of your life with bypass. Bypass is not reversible. The fatality rate, although small is more than times greater with bypass. You can always have bypass later if the band doesn't work for you. Good luck and remember the final decision is yours, not some doctor.
