  3. If you are that active, you are probably burning at least 2,500 calories a day. You should be consuming at least 1,200 calories to give you body the fuel it needs. If you don't, your body goes into starvation mode and stops burning calories unless you are exerting yourself. The weird answer is: yes, you have to eat more in order to lose weight. Have a 100 calorie shake between each meal. That will ad a couple hundred calories to your diet. Congrats on the weight you have already dropped!!

    Getting frustrated!

My paperwork was supposed to be submitted to Aetna on January 6th but my cardiologist did not indicate that I could stop taking my blood thinners for a couple of weeks prior to surgery. My surgeon's office said they would call him the next day; get the ok and submit the paperwork. I called Aetna on the 13th to see how things were progressing and they said that they haven't seen the request. I figured, "oh well, maybe they couldn't reach my cardiologist." I called Aetna again on the 20th and they still haven't seen the request. So, I call my surgeon's office and explain my concern. The receptionist tells me that the insurance specialist is out of the office "today" and that she was transferring me to her voice mail. Well, I left a message on Wednesday and it is Friday night. I still haven't heard from them. I was in no hurry to get banded because I have been doing great on my own. However, my roommate just told me that he is moving back to nasty, disgusting, frigid, tax-you-to-death Boston in February and he is my ride to and from surgery. I need to get this over with before he leaves. I am self sufficient to a fault and it kills me to have to ask anybody else for a favor. Apparently it doesn't hurt me to whine though.

  10. I think you are looking too far ahead. You have to take it one day at a time or you will overwhelm yourself with anxiety. If you get banded and if you follow the rules and if you lose 100+ pounds, it is not going to happen overnight. You'll have plenty of time to get accustomed to whatever changes take place.

    cardiac evaluation

You've been around for over 700 months. What's another six? I am almost at the end of my wait and haven't regretted the wait at all. It gave me plenty of time to soul search and continue my research.
  12. I agree whole-heartedly with you. We should not be polluting more than we have to but we also should not inconvenience the majority or slow technology by inventing an issue that doesn't exist or taking unneeded steps to prevent something that proves no immediate threat.
  13. I believe the vast majority of scientists that say global warming is BS. Not the 'tard from Tennessee.

    GoWearFit or BodyBug

I have a Bodybugg and love it. I can't give an opinion on the GoWear fit except that the same people make them both and they use the same technology. Also, I've heard that the GoWear fit is cheaper.

  19. And it's time for you to post some new pics. Your profile picture looks much better than your May and November albums!

I really need to get some pics out there but hard to find since I generally hide from cameras.

  20. Thanks! and trust me, if I can do it, anyone can!

    Calorie Counters ??

Check out the GoFit Wear and Bodybugg devices. They will track how many calories you are burning and you can enter what you've eaten on their websites and have them do all the calculations for you. It's working for me, not banded yet and not dieting. I'm just watching what I eat and dropping the pounds. The band will be my safety net in times of trouble, I HOPE!

    Slow Going...

The weight loss would remain the same if you burned the same amount of calories but your body would feel different. Your energy level would be a lot lower and your hunger a lot higher. * I am by nature more of a meat eater than carb craver. So, I can't speak from experience, only research.

    Calorie Counters ??

I watch how much saturated fat is in food and try to keep my intake low but I don't go out of my way to do it. I keep a very close eye on calories though. I document every bite or gulp I take and my Bodybugg records every calorie I burn.

    Slow Going...

Carbs and Protein were mentioned by a couple of people but nobody mentioned what really matters; CALORIES! Carbs, Proteins and fats control how many nutrients our bodies get; our moods and our appetite but they do not directly affect weight loss. It was good advice but if you want to lose weight faster you have to know how many calories you are consuming and burning. You lose weight by burning more calories than you consume. There are approximately 3,500 calories to a pound of fat. So, every time you burn an excess 3,500 calories, you will lose a pound. If you burn an average of 500 calories a day more than you eat, you will lose an average of 1 pound a week.
