Did the film "Shallow Hal" offend anyone?
btrieger replied to voodoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You mean like this pool scene? * Warning! If the movie offended you, this definitely will. Don't whine if you choose to watch. -
None of them are American either! I have owned only Fords since 1987 and haven't had any major problems or even headaches.

Did the film "Shallow Hal" offend anyone?

That pretty much sums up the movie. However, she wasn't overweight, she was morbidly obese and the movie was centered around a single man's acceptance and not the general populous. There was a man with a tail and some disfigured people as well. -
I guess when Obama does what he promised and brings the troops home. It looks like he has more pressing things like gays to take care of first.

I've taken huge chunks of cake and I am sure many others here have also. I was more offended by the stereotype that they were giving of men all being shallow than that of fat people being selfless. -

After WWII, not during it. We are currently at war and have troops deployed in the middle east. Maybe a better time to look at this would be after the war.

Pre-op Diets approved by Insurances and dr letter
btrieger replied to swish's topic in Insurance & Financing
It means a 6 month supervised diet by your bariatric surgeon and/or his staff. Not something you had in the past. And as far as making it easy; I don't know how mine could have been easier. -
Looking for March 2010 bandsters threads
btrieger replied to Fern's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Go to the top right of this page, then down about 2 inches. -
Thanks!! I'm getting banded on March 2 if all goes well. I never have had a problem losing weight. I have even less problem putting it back on and that is what I am hoping the band will prevent. The lapband is just another tool that will fit in with the others already in place: Bodybugg Pride (ego if you will) Support Will to live

If there's a monkey on my back should I let him stay or beat him off? I've got a barrel of monkeys and I don't think any of them are going anywhere. The smoking and gambling far outweigh any food obsession. I know I will they will always be there and I have to work to keep them in check but they also serve as reminders and keep me from getting complacent.

You look great. Do you plan on having a tummy tuck or have you already? That is 5 - 10 pounds more loss. *oops, just noticed your comment on waiting. That's what I get for speed reading.

And replaced with an "Ask and tell policy that was in place prior?" I have mixed feelings on the matter. The no gay rule is wrong in my opinion but it is a rule. If you are gay, you are not going to be legally able to join the military. If you are more patriotic than gay, then join and don't be flamboyant. I spent more than 5 years in the military and have known plenty of gay soldiers. They did what would get them kicked out far away from the base and nobody bothered them. The military serves an important function. To protect what is left of our freedom in this country. It is not a good place for social experiments. If the ban is lifted immediately. A bunch of flamboyant sissies will join the military just because they can and they want to piss off the intolerant people. What they will do is piss off everybody including the gay soldiers that joined out of patriotism. Many "real" soldiers will quit. Then they will start asking for more and more from the military because they are special. After a while the sissies will realize that the military is not a game and quit as well. What will be left is a mere memory of a once great military. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with flamboyant sissies. I just don't think they belong in the military.

Our economy is in the crapper. Companies are sending our jobs to third world countries. Unemployment is skyrocketing. Generations of welfare scum are living the good life for free. Our prisons are overcrowded and we are letting criminals free because we have nowhere to put them. Murderous scum isn't being put to death fast enough. Every issue is important to somebody but I think a couple of dudes kissing in a foxhole is nowhere near the top of the list.

Optifast only for 3 weeks. I am afraid to taste it. Have heard so many horror stories of it having the consistency of chalk. My room mate knows how much I appreciate him. I let him live in my house cheap. Him leaving is bitter sweet though. He likes to eat and with him gone, I won't have to watch someone fill their face all day long and not gain a pound.

You can do it!! It's a few days of discomfort in exchange for a lifetime of health. And every day you don't cheat makes you psychologically that much stronger as well. Good luck! I start my 3 week liquid only diet on Monday.

Here's a list of Dr Wellborn's patients on this site. At least those that put who their doctor was in their profile: LapBandTalk.com - Bandster Search

post your weight loss here we want to know!!!
btrieger replied to Too Fat To Fish's topic in The Guys’ Room
Modified my lifestyle on September 18, 2009 and I am down about 75 pounds. I am getting banded on March 2, 2010 and have about 120 pounds to go. -
Splurge on a Bodybugg or GoWear fit. They will tell you approximately how many calories you are burning at any given time of day. You upload the data to the website and you can also enter everything you have eaten on the site. They do the math for you. I burn approximately 3,400 calories a day and consume approximately 1,700. I am losing 3-4 pounds a week. I was burning over 4,000 calories a day when I started at over 360. So, if you choose to do the painful calcutaion manually you will have to do it often because it changes every time you lose a pound.

It will be closer to 90 pounds by the time I have surgery. I basically just cut my portions by 1/4 to 1/3 and have been walking at least 150 minutes a week. I am not a big sweets eater. I just over-ate a lot and sat on my ass even more. I use a Bodybugg to count how many calories I am burning and log everything I eat to know how many calories I am consuming. This way I know what I can eat or how much I have to exercise to lose 3 pounds a week. I am not working too hard and haven't gone to bed hungry yet. * This is not the first time I have lost a ton of weight. The band is going to be my safety net. I am not getting banded to lose weight. I am doing it to keep it off.

Calculating BMI when you have a half size
btrieger replied to New Joy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Weight in pounds times 703; then divide this by height squared. 238 x 703 = 167314 64.5 x 64.5 = 4160.25 167314 / 4160.25 = 40.217294633... Your BMI is 40.22 -
I start my 3 weeks of Opti-fast on Monday. Just bought $300 worth. I hope it isn't that bad.
