  1. Yuck! Stop eating that crap. It's nasty! I know it is convenient but it is really no good for you. If you want fast precooked food, try the deli in the supermarket. Granted there is no drive thru but you'll feel much better afterward. 16:15 until I check in. Getting anxious like I am forgetting to do something but the only instructions I have are: don't eat or drink anything after midnight; take a pepcid before going to bed and take a couple of showers with the special soap. For those who don't know and may care, my name is Bob but I am going to start responding to Brian as well. It started here earlier this week and I didn't correct the person. Now, at least a half dozen others have referred to me as Brian. Oh well, I get called far worse all of the time. :w00t:

    Suggestions

There are companies out there that give credit for the sole purpose of paying for surgery. You can also charge it to a credit card, take a bank loan, borrow against your 401k, refinance your house,etc... There are many ways to come up with the cash if you really want to. Some of them may seem drastic but so isn't surgery.

    Surgery completed this am

Congrats and it's great to hear that everything went so smoothly. Hopefully I can just cut and paste this to my blog tomorrow at this time.
  4. Today is my 22nd and final day of pre-op. I haven't had solid food in over 3 weeks and am not hungry. The secret is keeping a positive attitude and focusing on the result. Try not to think about what you aren't eating. Any hunger you feel is all in your head. Fight it, it's only 2 weeks. Good luck!
  5. Congrats on your decision and on being fully informed before going through with it!

    Why Tell Anyone?

I too am a very independent, private person but I'm not keeping it a secret. If anybody asks me about it, I will be more than happy to tell them. Especially other fat people, but only if they ask.
  7. sakirby, I may be mistaking but I think he means "loser" in the good sense. As in loser of excess weight. I.e, The Biggest Loser.
  8. Congrats larae and your lack of pain is very comforting to those of us having surgery tomorrow. At this point, pain is my only concern. Thanks!!
  9. I'd love to be your friend. I must warn you though. I can be a little frank sometimes and don't sugarcoat things. :)

    Confused!!!

Thanks! Less than 24 hours for me now. Let us know what the doctor says. I haven't hit a plateau this time but I am sure to sooner or later.
  11. Hey all. Congrats Jen. Less than 24 hours for me. I am trying to get up the motivation to do some housework but they don't have a band for that. Gonna suck sitting in a dirty house all week but I will get used to it like always. My niece is coming down on March 19 and said she'd clean the house for me. The poor kid has no clue what she got herself into.

    Tooting my own horn

Congrats!! Tooting is good! If I ever hit 167, I'd be running naked through the streets.

    Confused!!!

Obvious dumb question: are you drinking plenty of clear Water? Some of the foods you mentioned are loaded with sodium and cause your body to retain Fluid. Drinking plenty of water controls that a little. Your doctor/nurse will definitely have a better answer for you tomorrow.
  14. Thanks for the well wishes folks!

I am a little anxious, not quite excited. I want to get it over with so I can make sure I did the right thing. If I wasn't 99% sure, I would have pulled out. But I need that 1% more. :)

    Back Again

Welcome back Hal! Any surgery is a big deal and you aren't 100% ready, it's always a good thing to think things over and never too late to do so. I think we all have had thoughts of backing out for multiple reasons. I've thought it over many time and am ready. Others should have stopped and weren't as brave as you. Hopefully you won't have to repeat everything. Good luck!!
  16. Great attitude Drasan! You should fly through this. Good luck!
  17. I am going in 25.5 hours. My doctor has me taking pepcid for 30 days following surgery. A lot of people have said to bring a pillow for support on the ride home.

how much do you eat? I am eating too much

Evo, there is a 105 lb difference in the numbers you posted. Either there is a typo or you lost 100 pounds and didn't realize it. Alcohol is empty calories. You are not going to lose weight pounding beers. A friend of mine had bypass; lost obscene weight and gained it all back with the help of Budweiser. If you're going to drink, drink something stronger so that it doesn't take as many to get a buzz.
  19. I've done it for 3 weeks and I'd like to think I am in the majority. I'm an ex-smoker (5 months), compulsive gambler and a week-end alcoholic. I point this out to let you know that I have less willpower than most. If I can do the pre-op without a nibble, anyone can if they want to.
  20. Today is day 22 and the final day of my pre-op diet. I have been drinking 5 Optifast shakes a day and enjoying them. I did consider cheating a couple of times but chose not to. I have not had solid food for over 3 weeks and have not been hungry. I do miss it but I don't crave it. It's all about convincing yourself that your goal is more important than a quick fix. Keep your eyes on the prizes and good luck!!
  21. I am skeptical about EVERYTHING. Nothing ever goes the way I planned. So, I refuse to believe it until I see it. Thanks! I am a little proud but as much as the first 2 times I last over 100. I gained it all back and then some and that is very depressing. I could always lose weight easily. I'm hoping the band will help me keep it off.
  22. This is an inspirational post. Thanks!! I am having surgery tomorrow and hope it goes just as smoothly. I don't have a c-section to compare it to though.

    Traveling After Surgery

Good point about pain. Along with pain meds, have a pillow with you. Everyone is telling me to bring a pillow for the ride home from surgery. So I can hold it against my abdomen.
