I wouldn't be worried but "Last Supper Syndrome" is self-destructive. It is just more weight you will have to lose. I'd try to put an end to it. Keep a positive attitude and look forward to your new life. Don't think about what you won't be eating. Chances are you'll be able to eat anything you want. I had a 3 week pre-op diet and I think it helped prepare me for post-op when I really can't eat solid food.

Sick of protein shakes!
btrieger replied to ldsparnell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the Protein shake loving group as well and I ain't doing anything fancy. I fill my cup with 10 ounces of water; dump in the Optifast powder; shake like Hell and drink. My roommate is a gym rat and mixes tasteless protein powder with everything. -
March 2010 only please
btrieger replied to btrieger's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Welcome! Great news Stargate. I was pushed from January to March. The 6 weeks flew by though and March has a better group than January. Just kidding. Girl55, don't think of it as d-day. It is V-Day!! -
Are you journaling everything you eat and drink? Doing this may point out that you are eating more calories than you thought. It will also aid a dietitian in helping you. This can be done with pen and paper but most use an online site like The Daily Plate. Also, are you drinking at least 64 ounces of clear water a day? This matters more than most people are aware.

ideas for Mayo substitute
btrieger replied to TracyNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some think fat free plain yogurt is a good substitute. I use Miracle Whip Free or Miracle Whip Light. Fortunately, I like Miracle Whip more than mayonnaise anyways. -
Amazing Drop in Blood Pressure
btrieger replied to adagray's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I said the same thing yesterday. I am getting light headed every time I stand up. No weakness or drowsiness other than that. It is either low blood pressure; low blood sugar or a combination of both. I am taking meds for high bp and my blood sugar has always been perfect. I've eaten nothing in 4 full weeks besides Protein shakes and 6 6 oz fat free yogurts. My blood pressure could shoot back up when I start eating normally again. So, I am waiting it out. I have a blood pressure cuff around here somewhere. PS. I hit my 50% point today and didn't realize it until now. Down 97.5 with 97.5 to go. -
I have found a new use for exercise....
btrieger replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was doing just the opposite. Instead of passing up something, I would exercise extra to make up for it. Both methods seem to make sense. The end justifies the means I guess. -
I had to take out a loan to pay for the taxes on the Explorer but don't even think about that now. You have more than 13 months before you even have to think about it. Concentrate on your surgery; being thin and healthy!

Jen, I don't have that kind of luck any more. Hawaii was 1995 and the Explorer in 1997. It used to be easy to win things on the internet when it was only us geeks. I knew my luck had come to an end when my 65 year old mother got an internet account.

Ask and ye shall receive. Check out this link and let me know if you still need help: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/ticker-tutorial-pictures-41782/ Good luck.

I've won a trip to Hawaii and a Ford Explorer. I ended having to pay 42% taxes. 37% federal and 5% state income tax. Both of these were luxuries though, surgery is hardly that.

Congrats and welcome aboard. The time will fly by and is a great time for any soul searching you may still need. You may lose a couple of nights' sleep if you have to do sleep tests as well. But that is the worst of it.

Welcome aboard! I am basically in the same boat as far as support goes. I moved across the country for work a couple of years ago and have very few close friends here. The people on this website have been great support. I don't know if it is a misery loves company deal or not but it works.

Looking for March 2010 bandsters threads
btrieger replied to Fern's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm sorry to hear that you are still having pain but it just goes to show how everybody is different. I had my surgery the same day and any discomfort I had was gone Friday. However, I've only dropped 3 pounds since surgery. -
Welcome aboard dk and Sharon.

Thanks! Y'all made be blush.

Looking for March 2010 bandsters threads
btrieger replied to Fern's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't worry about pain. That was my only concern and as I said, I never had any. I have not been hungry in weeks and am kind of losing interest in food all together. I have to keep reminding myself to "drink" another meal. There are 7 others posting here that were banded on the same day I was. Most of their post-op experiences sound much the same. One guy had a rough first day but appears to be doing great now. Good luck!! -
I think I want it but don't know where to start
btrieger replied to Adamc1303's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'll be totally honest with you. I don't think you should be looking at getting surgery just yet. You say that you've been overweight for only 5 years. Some of us have been on diets that lasted longer than that. 100 pounds is easier to lose for young men than most will admit. I've got 2 pounds to go before I can say I've done it for the third time. Talk to a therapist and see it you can identify what is triggering you to overeat. See a nutritionist so they can get you on the right track. Start exercising more. Park further from the entrance to work or if you take public transportation, get off a block sooner. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Find a buddy with a common goal that is willing to exercise with you. It's a personal choice and I'm sure everyone here will support you in whatever decision you make but I would try the alternatives first. Good luck -

I am Curious What Will be Highjacked Next in Our Country.....Lawsuit seeks to take...

Some of us think that your God is make believe. Others believe in another god or multiple gods. Why should we have to see his name all over public property? Most of us couldn't really care one way or the other. We understand how inconsiderate "some" Christians can be and have grown accustomed to it. -

Thanks for asking! I feel like a million dollars. There was no real pain requiring painkillers at any time. Tuesday afternoon I had real bad gas. None of the shoulder pain that many complain of. Popped Gas-X strips like they were going out of style. The gas subsided and I slept like a baby. Wednesday, the gas is back but not nearly as bad. More Gas-X. Thursday, every muscle in my body felt cramped and achy. I think it was the IV fluids leaving my body or something. I don't think the pain killer would have helped and don't like the drowsy feeling it gives me. I was a little stiff still on Friday morning for an hour or so and then felt better than I did before surgery. I have experienced absolutely no pain or even tenderness around any of my 5 incisions. I can't feel the band from the inside. I can guzzle Water just as easily as I could last week. I won't know about solid foods for another 3 weeks. Blended/mushies starting Tuesday. I do have a real bad habit of swallowing air when I want to belch and this isn't working. I can't get a good, resounding belch out and have to wait for all of that air to come out the other end. Are you ready for Wednesday?

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
btrieger replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome 2Good. What kind of dogs? I have 2 english mastiffs and love them more than I would real children. Betsy, are you taking medication for hypertension? I am and if I do have hypotension now, the medication could be doing more damage than good. I'll have to figure out which box I packed the bp cuff in. Those of us in North Texas are missing the Texas sun today too. It's wet and only supposed to be about 60. Gloria, sounds like fun. It has been about a month for me on shakes and now liquids. I can't remember what it is like to eat out. I don't really miss it yet. The chair, slab and grass in this picture are all gone. Replaced by a swimming pool last summer. -

It sounds like a good idea if you enjoyed it. I have absolutely no hobbies and need to find something to do other than watch tv and surf the net. I had to quit bowling because it was getting expensive buying new clothes. I kept splitting the crotches in my pants.
