    epiphany

It just dawned on me in the past few days that I experienced an epiphany either with the heart attack in September or somewhere along my journey here. I've had a few dozen people thank me lately for comforting them or being inspirational to them with my positive attitude. All the while I was thinking, "Boy do I have them fooled. If they only knew the real me." The more I thought about it, the more I realized that they were seeing the real me and the only one I was fooling was myself. I went back and reread my last 100 or so posts. Almost all were either positive reinforcement or congratulating somebody for reaching a milestone. The surprising thing is that I meant every bit of it. Six months ago I was a selfish, miserable, negative, argumentative, pessimistic jerk with a huge chip on my shoulder feeding on others' misery. Today, I feel like I get stronger with every positive experience I have or read about. I am trying to forget the past and look forward to each new day. Attitudes are contagious!!!! I'm actually feeling pity for those that are letting their negative feelings take over. I try not to empathize with their feelings because I don't need any regression in my attitude now that I may have finally seen the light. I've still got quite a bit of anger and repressed feelings inside me but they are dwindling with every minute passing.
  4. Flying by again. :cursing: Christie I am so jealous. Describe your PB. My first fill is April 21. I made that appointment yesterday.

    Now they tell me....

I had my 2 week post-op yesterday and the only thing that I cannot have now is carbonated beverages. I've never heard the no beef thing.
  6. Congrats!! It kind of sucks going back to work but you get to show off the new you.

    how do I compare?

You keep that attitude and it will work. Congrats on the weight loss!
  8. Hi all, happy clover day. I'm doing a fly by as I try to read as much as possible before bed. Had boneless chicken for dinner last night; pulled pork tonight and I dared try 2 slices of pizza at lunch. I had no problems with any of it but I did chew the living crap out of everything. It was like being in Paradise. I love pizza and hadn't had it in like 3 months. I used to eat the entire 10 slice pizza but was satisfied with only 2 slices. I don't think it was the band. I think it was all the chewing and taking 15 minutes to finish each slice. I just walked the dogs down to the vet about a mile and a half away. I suddenly remembered half way there why I don't walk both at the same time. Seven was yanking my arm off on the way there. On the way back, she was still yanking forward and I was having to drag the 165 Dubs behind me. My credit card got denied at the vet and it was a little embarrassing. I only brought 1 card with me because I didn't have my wallet. That has not happened to me in over 25 years! I am not poor any more. Everything worked out for the best. I got home alive; got plenty of exercise and am paying the balance tomorrow morning.

    epiphany

I'll be the first to admit, it started out as candy-coated BS. I was trying to convince myself. Somewhere along the way I actually started believing it myself and I'm not sure when. Anyways, the end justifies the means. If I have to con myself and others in order to gain a positive outlook on life, then I'll do it all over again. Thanks!!

    Confession time!!

No foods that you love should be considered taboo. It's all about moderation and accountability. You sound like you have both under control. Congrats!!! Now, tell us about how good that cupcake tasted!!!!

How often do you weigh yourself?

I'm a "scale whore" as described the last time somebody asked this question. I strip down and get on her every morning, faithfully. I update my ticker every couple of pounds or so but only record my weight in my journal once a week. my weight fluctuates daily 1 or 2 pounds dependent on where I stand on the scale.
  12. I'm proud to say that I never even considered cheating pre or post. Yesterday was my 2 week post-op appointment and I got the go ahead to eat what I want. Those diets are not to test your will power. They are for your own good. If you do break down and eat something, you have to look past it and try harder not to do it again.
  13. Yo, where are you?

I haven't seen you posting and your surgery was a week ago. I hope all is well.

  14. It's all in your head. You know what is best for you, now you have to convince yourself. I did a 3 week pre-op of nothing but shakes and had no problem with hunger or anything else. I quit smoking after almost 30 years of smoking using Nicotrol Inhalers. This wasn't hard either. Keep a positive attitude and you can do this. If you go into it feeling you are going to fail, then you probably will. Now, head up and get back in there!!!

Why do they keeping saying this won't work?

Much faster than what? There is basically no recovery time for lapband.

    Conservative VS Liberal

The same can be and was said about segregation a few decades ago. People grow up and realize the errors of their ways and try to fix them.
  18. Gingerjane, I think there is a big difference between Optifast and Medifast. I personally loved the Optifast and haven't heard anything good about Medifast at all.

    March 2010 Bandsters

Last night I had 4 boneless buffalo wing and tossed them in the food processor until they were soupy and 4 ounces of potato salad after I mashed up the potatoes with a spoon. The night before I had 8 ounces of pinto Beans with 2 tablespoons fat free sour cream. I mushed the beans with a hand blender. I strained a can of New England clam chowder for lunch Sunday. I smashed it so the potatoes went through the strainer. Through the bits of clam out. Those are a few of the things I tried. But I got the ok about 2 hours ago to try real food!!!!

I got nothing about my band at all. I was handed a piece of paper that had what I should eat for the next 4 weeks. I have my 2 week post-op this afternoon and hope I get the info then.
