Two for scopes; two for instruments and one for the lapband and port. The same way they are absorbed prior to surgery.

Make optifast taste better?
btrieger replied to JMinDallas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is no coffee flavor, there is chocolate. I personally think Optifast is delicious but what may be distracting you is the texture. Have you tried crushed ice? It makes it seem like more of a dessert. -
Liquid diet! How much weight to loose??
btrieger replied to Tori1983's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I lost 10 pounds during my 22 day pre-op liquid diet. I must have really missed the boat on the 14 pounds a week think. -
Do I need a fill....or what am I doing wrong
btrieger replied to x96oun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stop trying to justify your overeating and listen to some of the great advice you are getting. We are/were all in the same boat and are trying to help. You stated hypothetically that you would be starving later. Have you tried it? Weigh out 4 ounces of chicken breast; cut it very small; chew each bite at least 25 times and you'll be amazed at how filling it can be. The optical illusion created by using a smaller plate works as well. It tricks your brain into thinking you are eating more. If you are hungry later, have a snack. A sugar free Jello pudding cup is only 60 calories and won't hurt. The size of the lapband has absolutely nothing to do with BMI. NOTHING! It depends only on the shape and size of your stomach. -
So, instead of going to the Gym I ate some M&M's....aaaaaah!
btrieger replied to praehpour's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
By not going to the vending machine. But you already knew that. There is no magic wand to wave and personally I don't think one package of M&Ms ever killed any one. Next time try eating them while walking on the treadmill. There's no reason you can't do the vending machine and the gym. -
I usually only get headaches from stress or dehydration but have gottem from not enought potassium while on diets. Are you taking a Multivitamin?

HELP! - Port ripped???
btrieger replied to JoiaRox's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may have just pinched a nerve or something but you can make a call to your surgeon just in case. I'm being a hypocrite here because I felt something similar when I attempted to throw my 150 lb dog in the pool the other day and I didn't call. -
This looked tasty: Nearly forgot to post my real link. Check out http://bariatriceating.com

Bariatric Advantage is gross!! Don't judge the others by that. You really have to taste them. There are flavorless Protein powders that you judge mix a little sugar free Kool-Aid and water into them.
-
You pour the Protein powder into a shaker cup; pour in some water; screw the lid on; shake for about 20 seconds; drink and throw the cup in the sink or dishwasher. That is not time consuming at all. I love Optifast but you have to get it from a distributor.

And so the WAITING begins...
btrieger replied to Jamie1970's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call the insurance company in a couple of days and ask them for a status. It shouldn't take more than 2 weeks. Good luck -
banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
btrieger replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dropped my babies off at kennel less than 2 hours ago and I miss them already. I probably wouldn't miss them if they were real kids. -
Dr Kim had 6 scheduled the day I had my surgery. Get the Optifast! It is worth the extra money.

JR, I have to disagree with you. The mucus/Slime that we enjoy spitting up so much is NOT saliva. Saliva is produced in the mouth. Slime is produced by the esophagus.

There are Fill Centers all over the country. Closest to the beltline is in Annapolis. Just look for their ad to the right of this forum. -

btrieger replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Heading up to Mass (which I hate) to visit with family and attend my niece graduation party. With any luck I will drink way too much and pass out for 3 days. -
It can be if you drill the holes just right.

I ordered a small pizza because this thread made me hungry. It lasted 4 full meals. (3 dinners and a breakfast)

The only response I could think of was STFU  -
Oh go ahead an offend them. You might actually get through one of their heads that they are being self destructive. It is recommended that we don't drink soda, but even that is possible if done in moderation.

btrieger replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on vacation and my own personal four day liquid diet starts tomorrow. I'll start with a Bloody Mary or two in TGIF at the airport; have a couple of screwdrivers on the plane and finish up with 3 and a half days of nothing but Guinness. Who said liquid diets are hard? PS. I just about lost it 10 minutes ago when I read a post that said "I was banded this morning and don't feel restriction. I don't think my band will work." Where do they find these people? -
How much weight can you lose with the Lap band in 7 months?
btrieger replied to Rose7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a stretch but definitely doable. Don't wait around for the band to start doing the work. It won't. You have to give it all you've got and it will help out. Good luck!! -

Good luck Anne. They approved your Lapband, they shouldn't have an issue with the sleeve. -
Follow your surgeon's instructions. They are all different. That being said, I was supposed to do 2 weeks liquids and then 2 weeks pureed. My surgeon gave me the go ahead after 1 week of liquids to do 1 week of pureed and then move onto solid food. So, I was eating solid without a problem after 2 weeks.

Frustrated, frustrated,frustrated.
btrieger replied to mnsmith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Change up your routine. Your body may have gotten used to the same routine every day. How many calories do you average a day? If more than 1,500, try cutting it down to 1,300. If less than 1,000, try adding 200 calories. Make sure you are drinking at least 64 ounces of Water a day. You've lost 50 pounds!! You should be jumping for joy! Keep your chin up. It took time to put the weight on, it takes time to take it off.
