  1. You may have eaten too FAST, this will cause stacking and you have to really chew the food, especially any foods with skins. I had a peice of steak hung for three days, OMG it was painful. Drank coke to get that meat unhung, finally got to eat, it too was right after a fill about three days, only going to eat soft foods after fills! Learned my lesson too LOL Tried to gag and throw it up, not coming! Scary to say the least. We will learn won't we?:bored:

  2. I am 57 years old, had the band on July 29, 2009. As of today I am down 49 lbs! I feel great, joined the Gym and really moving now. Getting all sorts of compliments too. I would do it all over again tomorrow, no regrets. It is something you will live with the rest of your life, and your life will be longer due to the weight loss. Don't be afraid, do it for LIFE! If you can get use to heartburn, swelled feet and ankles, taking meds for everything related to being overweight, you can get use to being thin, with the band and love it.

  3. It is the Gas settling in you from the Surgery, that is all. It will go away, take your pain meds that the Doctor Prescribed. I was able to eat chicken Noodle Soup and other soft foods the second week after my surgery. You just need to concentrate on chewing everything well before swallowing and it should go down. I felt weak and light headed without some food. Vienna Sausage are very soft and a meat with high Protein that I added. I found that I could eat saltines and did too, itty bitty bites and that helped with my nausea. I told my Dr. and he was fine with it. The Protein Drinks are good too, they fill you up and give you added energy. The gas pain will go away soon, give it a day or two. It is common with the Lap Band Surgery. Always call your Dr's office if you are worried about something. Good luck, you are on your way to being a LOSER in a good way! Here if you need me.

  4. Hi! I think your transformation is remarkable. You deserve to have a make over. And we never know what we will like until we try it! I went for the hair Cut and the Frosting and the Contacts, and when I get to my Goal Weight, I am going to have a Tummy Tuck, Boob Job, Whatever it takes to improve myself further. We only live once and we can't take anything with us, so having said that, GO FOR IT! You are a beautiful woman with choices, and anyway it will always grow back.

I am a little concerned, I have only had my band for 13 weeks, not loosing hair and my hair is in great shape. Should I expect this to happen to my hair? I am on High Protein Diet, and was told this was essential to keep from loosing hair.

    God Bless!

  5. I am so excited for you. It can come off as a very long process but then you are surprised how fast it happens. I started in February 2009 and now I am counting down just a 10 more days.

I plan to share all my trials and victories so maybe I can help you out or until you get banded then we can help each other.

    Go Team Band!!

    Hi Mel!

I know you are getting excited, and it has been a long process, but it will be worth it. Get everything ready at home, everything in reaching distance for yourself, It is the one thing I did not do. Get a few small pillows and toss them around so you can reach, when you need. The port area is very sore and tender so when you get up and down from the couch or a chair, use them to press against the port area. After 3 or 4 days, the pain should subside there and all is well. On the seventh day, I got up around 7 AM and walked down my long driveway and back several times, I had so much energy after the surgery, something I had never had before. I have lost 46 lbs in 13 weeks, already!

From a size 24W to 14 W. You can do this, and you will be so happy. Keep in touch, God Bless and Best Wishes to you.:scared2:

  6. Hi Everyone. I am new to this site. My surgeon suggested that I try it out. I live in upstate NY in a very small town about 40 miles North of the Pennsylvania border. I have been traveling through this journey of WLS since July 2oo9. At this point, I do not have a surgery date. My surgeon's office is waiting on reports from some of the testing MDs. I am very optimistic and excited about this journey. I am in great hopes that I will have the surger by the end of Jan. 2010.

Just looking to see what everyone else has to say about their journey and gather as much information as possible.

Hi! and Welcome to LapBand Talk!:scared2:

I was banded on July 29, 2009, Self-Pay, so I did not have to go through all you guys are doing with the Ins. Co.'s I would have but my BCBS has a clause that would not pay at all. I felt so good about the Band, that I wanted it, and just paid for it. It was rough the first four or five days after surgery, I will not lie to you. You need to get everything ready at home to make it as easy for you as possible and take your pain meds, this is one time you can, so do! You will not even remember it, when you start shedding the pounds, believe me! I have lost a total of 46 lbs, and I went from a size 24W to a 14W in no time at all! I have three piles of clothes, ones I can't wear, ones I am wearing, and ones I WILL WEAR, in just a month, I go down a couple of sizes. I want to loose about 110 lbs! This time next year, your journey to a new life is just beginning! Feel free to talk anytime. Best Wishes to You.

  7. I know how you feel. My husband ask me constantly if I am alright, and when we choose a Restaurant, he ask me if I can eat any of the foods. Sure I can, do I want to? That is the question. I was banded on July 29, 2009, lost 42 lbs as of today, it was slow to start, but it will come off! Do not let anyone rob you of your joy. Talk to your Mom, she is just worried about you and does not understand how you feel. I usually order an appetizer, or fish. You don't have to eat everything on your plate and most Moms taught us! That is the way back to fat, the way to lean is in front of you now, stay on track, and don't get depressed for any reason, you will do it. Perservere.

  8. Hi, If you go to LapBand.com, and Click on Lindora Lean for Life, They will give you motivation and help every day and help you track your weight loss and also give you daily plans for 800 calories and 900 calories per day, you can actually have some things that are calorie free and yet filling. The only protien only is for three days! That gets you into Ketosis and you start burning the fat, I lost 3.5 lbs in the first 3 days. and I am loosing now. I do agree that after the fill you will not eat as much or be as hungry. I am 8 weeks post op and have now lost 33 lbs. I was so discouraged at 4 weeks for the little weight loss and was almost ashamed at seeing others success, but fear not, you are staying the course and it will show up soon, I do not excersise as much as you do yet, but I walk three times a week and I am toning up. Going to join a Gym soon.

  9. Hi, I just banded on 7/29/09, and I have found the Lindora Lean for Life thread on LapBand.com. They have a great plan and I am following it. The first 20 weeks is Free with

the LapBand surgery! So try it! They get you on track, you log everything everyday, and help you with motivation. I lost 3.5 lbs in 3 days! Try It!:tongue2:

I am a little over 5 months post op, had 4 fills. I started at around 245 and am currently 209 and haven't lost any weight in about 2 months. It is all my fault, as I had pretty good restriction with my last fill. I could probably go for one more fill but I'm holding off for now because of what is happening.

I am very tight in the morning and afternoon. I usually eat 2 scrambled eggs in the morning and I can still get those down most of the time, but sometimes I have some pain (I think I'm eating too fast still). I was eating chicken or tuna for lunch and recently switched to Protein shakes because the solid Protein gets stuck more often and/or causes pain.

The problem is that by dinner I am very hungry and I can eat anything literally! The problems with Breakfast and lunch don't exist at dinner and I probably eat too much. I am also finding I snack more on foods that will go by the band easier without the pain (yogurts, cheese for example). Is that strange to be really tight in the morning and not so much in the evening?

I think I need to buckle down and figure out how many calories I can eat and still lose weight. I haven't done it before because I was relying on the band to do it all for me. How did you go about figuring it out?

    Thanks.

  10. Hi, I too felt this way only 8 weeks ago, I was out of my element being at home and not working, not being able to move around quickly and clean house, what could I do? I felt a little helpless and a little self-pity and began to doubt my decision and that I could do this!!! My husband really did not want me to have the Band, he always thought I could do it myself, and I tried over and over again to get thin, to no avail. He has always weighed the same since we married, and eats Ice Cream at night!!! I found that I could go out to eat, just made lean choices, or I eat my select foods prior to going out now and just have a glass of Water and a salad or cottage cheese. All my friends have been great support and encourage me. They all tell me that they can see me getting thinner. It is hard to believe in the beginning.

Let me tell you, I looked at Recipe books when I came home!! My husband asked me if I was crazy. I was actually finding foods that I could have when I got to Solids and looking at how to lower the fat, carbs and calories in these recipies. I had a grocery list when I got to Solids to go to the store with, so try to stay busy, and not bored, you will be less depressed! I slept a lot and watched a lot of TV too. I made up my mind that when I could eat solids, I'd have Chinese, I did, but very little of it, I felt so bloated afterwards! LOL Just take it one day at a time, It will get better for you.:smile2:
