  1. I had my surgery on October 1st and everything is going great so far. Only thing is I had no idea how often I drop things on the floor and have to pick it up - just so painful.

    LOL!

I know. As long as you bend and squat with your legs & knees there is no strain.

    I'm feeling great too.

5 days post op with a repaired hernia!

    :wink2:

  2. Here here!

I get the same feeling. When I respond to a post

or post a blog I feel people are looking down on me

    because I am 5"7 195 & 5 days post op.

At 1st I just wanted to read & not post, but I said to heck wit

it; no on is gonna break my spirit.

I don't have to explain my problems with food to anyone.

Accept me or don't, either way I will drop this weight!

    Good luck to everyone!!!

  3. I too had a hernia repaired.

Try sm walks. I know it sounds odd but it helped me.

Take very deep breaths & breathe out, that too helps!

Remember your stomach is empty & you don't want to vomit.

Do not take any medications other than the liquid Tylenol.

They will mk you sick or you can become dependent on them.

I'm no Dr. But, 5 days post op, & feeling great; don't take any chances.

Tough it out, you will be fine, it's too early to panic.

  4. Hang in there it will all be worth it!

It is mind over matter & you going through withdrawl.

Like others have said, it gets easier once you get it out of your system.

Cheating will only prolong your hunger for more...

I found Isopure to be a god send!!!

40 grams of protien & 0 carbs! I love them & I drink 1 a day on my post op diet.

I am on day 4 of being banded and I was surprised chicken broth would enough & it was!

I will not do anything to mess up my procedure. Follow your Drs instructions, you'll see in the long run you will be happy you did!

  5. I agree see your provider. I was rid of my gas pains by day 3 but I walked like a mouse in a cage!

I take small sips & I take deep slow breaths.

I don't know why but I keep coughing & sneezing too.

It realy wierd... I hold my stomach & cough as deep and minimal as possible.

My incisions have some discomfort & I think over time my port will cause pain from what I have read but I feel pretty lucky since I would have to drive 2 hours & go back over the boarder if I experienced any problems...

I'm sure you be fine, stay active!

  6. Walk, walk and walk some more. You might think you can't due to the soreness, but walk anyway. The more you walk, the more gas is expelled. On day 4, I thought...OMG...what have I done to myself? What have I gotten into? I had a mini panic attack and just started walking. At the 3 mile mark, I felt sooooo much better.

I agree, walk every free chance you can get.

I had the procedure done Oct 3rd & I started walking ASAP!

Another great tip to help with pain is very small short sips & swallows!

The less you swallow the less air you swallow & the less pressure you put on your band.

And, the most important that no one has mentioned is breathe!!!

Take in breathes slow as far as you can & then push out as far as you can. This pushes all the all like a vacume.

When you push out you will notice small burps. This is what is causing the pain.

I was told gas medication is not good for you in large quantities because you don't want to grow dependant on them.

I don't take any now & my pain went away by day 3!

Now the only preassure I feel is from my drinking.

And when I start to feel build up I just breathe as deep as I can it it pushed the gar right out!

    Amazing? I know!!!

  7. yes, please share Rebone!! I am dying to hear from folks who went to TJ.

I am considerably heavier than you, at 255.. ugh

Having been in your shoes last week I know you have a million questions so feel free to email me!

    Redbonela@aol.com!

I feel great 3 days after the procedure & am excited to lose this weight. You will lose you weight faster than me.

I learned 3 important things:walk, sm slow sips, & deep breaths in & out!

Trust me these will mk life so much better!

    Good luck

  8. My date is October 29th. I am a self pay and too scared to go to Mexico in case something goes wrong. Having mine local but the cost is So much. I am terrified of being put under and something going wrong. I'm a single Mom and already feeling bad that I wont be able to take my daughter trick or treating.

I am starting at 195 and have a BMI of 33. Would love to chat with someone who is close to my BMI.

    Good Luck Everyone.

    I am also @ 195, but I am 5"7 & a single parent!

I was banded in TJ Mex this past Sat.

  9. are you in alot of pain? i think thats all i am worried about..and did you get stapled or something else?

I'm doing everything I can to avoid pain.

After every walk I was able to go to the toilet & let some gas out.

    I purchased liquid Tylenol & chewed a few anti gas pills.< /p>

I gave birth so I know how the gas pains could be unbareable!

I haven't experienced too much pain yet, just uncomfortable.

Good luck, u will do fine & when it's over u will be happier.

  11. Hi all October Bandsters,

So, I am one day out and feel great. Took 2 tsp. of lortab elixer and slept all night no problem. Just tylenol today till about 2:30 this afternoon and then had 1 tsp of the lortab.

Sipping on Water all day, Got a green tea from starbucks this afternoon. And I have had a little more than half of a Jello cup.

I am not hungry at all.

Feel really good and looking forward to the mush phase to get more flavor.

dinner tonight will be broth made from beef Better Than Bullion. It has so much more flavor than any of the already made beef or chicken stock i bought.

Congrats to all who just got their band dates. I'll start posting pics soon to show my progress.

Good for you lil mama! You will soon get your fill & be on your way! I'm so excited for you!
