  1. My insurance would not cover surgery either. My scheduled was scheduled and set up through Med to Go International and my surgery was performed by Dr. Lopez Corvala at Hospital Angeles in Tijuana. Everything went very well. They picked me up from the airport in San Diego and took us to Tijuana. The hospital was new and modern. Very clean!!! The staff was nice and friendly and everyone was extremely helpful. Let me know if you have any questions. Send me a PM.

I too visited Dr Corvala in TJ, & was absolutely satisfied 10/3/09!

    Who does your fills?

I loved the Hospital, it was so clean.

  2. I can't agree enough!

I was having problems but thought in the long run it would be worth it since I was practically throwing everything up & not consuming calories...

Thank godness I had a slight infill, it's like magic all the uncomfortness went away!!! No slipage, might have streatched my pouch a little, but I was told it would return to normal after the swelling goes down.

I can eat anything & still feel full after a normal portion.

I will return next month for maybe .1 cc or .15

end the end, listen to your body. It tells you when something is NOT NORMAL.

    Good luck to all!!!

  3. I was too tight & lived with it for 2 months. I just went & had .4 cc removed. All the negative things I was feeling went away (up all night spitting up, PBing-food, pressure in my chest after eating, not being able to eat or drink in the mornings, coughing all night, acid reflux @ night). The worst thing that happened was I streatched my pouch a little. You can get a slipped band-worst case. Regardless, if your too tight fix it, you can cause ireversable damage...

I will go back next month for her to put another .cc or .2 just cause I can eat more than I could before when I was too tight.

    Good luck!

  4. Redbone, you sound like you are singing an old song that I sang once before and the name of that tune was "Not only are you to tight but your band has slipped and you need a revision surgery" Now I am not saying that any of that is applicable to you but I had an experience much like yours with the reflux (with no acid taste at all), and being able to expell food very easily if it felt stuck and up sometimes by just bending over the toilet, sink, whatever. I'm glad to hear that you have an appointment, you may want to ask to have a swallow test done so they can check for sure that there has been no slippage. and sometimes the reflux is related to a hernia. keep us posted, and good luck to you, my fingers are crossed in yor favor that the worst case senario is that you're just to tight.

Wow! Thx for the info. I'm glad I posted & found I'm not the only one...

I had a hernia repaired while banded & didn't even know I had it.

I'm hopping I'm just tight, my Dr has given me slippage symptoms & I don't believe that has happened.

    Thx for the well wishes!

My appoint isn't until next Fri.

  5. Sue,

    I can't say it's reflux, I think I'm just a little too tight... I have already made an appoint. I think I will have .1 or .2 cc's removed.

I do sleep elevated on the nights I feel I may spit up. Did it ever come through your nose?

I definetly do not eat 4 hours b4 bed, I work nights 4:30-1am so it works for me anyway. So, when i do have to spit it's only a clear liquid with no acid taste.

  6. OMG, sometimes you read the most alarming things on here! Are you really OK with this?

Does it not occur to you that your stomach has a one way valve and that bending over and having food "roll out your mouth" is NOT normal. Have you considered the fact that if food can just fall out of your stomach with no ejection, that might be because your pouch is dilated and the food is actually sitting in your esophagus?

You SHOULD be scared and worried by this. Dont leave it. It is NOT normal to have to stop eating 4 hours before bed and it is not normal to regurgitate food with so little effort. You are at the very least way too tight, that can damage your stomach and predispose you to erosion, and that's if you havent already slipped. What you are experiencing is not learning to live with tightness, its abnormal and possibly dangerous.

I appreciate your concern but others would also say it's not normal for a person 30lbs over weight to get a Lapband...

  7. I was banded in Tijuana by Dr Corvala

I had my surgery in a state of the art Hospital for around $5k. I do have the 5cc band but that just meant I reached my sweet spot after 3 fills!

I went back for fills at $100 each

I have had no complications nor did I have any before the surgery.

I would recommend him to anyone & am available for any questions.

Don't believe the hype about Mexico & Mexican Doctors... You will be surprised how narrow minded & misinformed others are.

    Good luck!

I hope you follow your gut!

  8. Sue I agree on a lot of things with you...

I decided to ride out my tightness & learned to live with it. I have to stop eatting 4 hours before bed or I will be up all night spitting up. Sometimes it gushes out my nose...(saliva)

I learned that when I am too full, I can just bend over the tiolet and without much effort it rolls out my mouth. I would be scared if I was hurling and thrusting but there is no preassure from my stomach area.

Some days Im tight some days I can eat anything as long as it's a small portion...

I'm glad my Doctor was agressive, I couldn't stand the pain from the fill... Or the long drive to TJ & $100.

I am slimming down everyday even without excercise.

I don't weigh myself because I don't want to be discouraged.

    Thx for all the advice...

  9. Congrats on everyone's loss!!!

I stopped weighing myself after I hit my sweet spot.

Some days i am tight some days I can eat a cup of food at a time.

I am down from a 12 to an 8 and am in heaven.

I havent had any complications since I thought I was too tight. I can not eat 4 hours before I go to sleep or I will spit up all night. Anyone else have that problem?

I have had only 3 fills but I have a 5cc band that's just about full.

What does everyone think about meeting up somewhere like Vegas or LA or anywhere to Celebrate in October???

    Good luck to everyone!!!

  10. Hey all....

I was wondering what happened to you guys too...

We were so active in the begining but now no one is posting.

    It's been a ride I must admit.

Yes it was a slow start but I guess I'm in my groove now!

I thought I was too tight at one point and considered an unfill of about .2 cc's but changed my mind at the last minute.

I don't bother to weigh myself. I can fit my old clothes and that's all that matters to me. Some things are too big!

I hope I am at my sweet spot because I can only eat a cup of food at a time and no more.

I learned not to eat before bed, or I am miserable spitting up a clear white frothy spit.

I am so surprised my appetitie has been curved.

    I love the Lapband!!!
