My surgery is on Monday in El Paso, Tx with Dr. Acosta and I am so excited I can barely wait!
    My Top Ten Things:
    10. I want to go shopping with a friend and not have to go to "my specialty store" but rather try on clothes at the same store!
    9. Being that I love to travel, being able to ride in a plane comfortably without people desperately trying NOT to sit near me would be fantastic! So humiliating, especially all the way to Europe.
    8. I would like to never, ever hear again in my life that I have a beautiful face and IF I lost the weight……ugh….story of my life.
    7. I would love to be able to ride a bike and swim in public without glaring stares.
    6. I would love to ride the rides at amusement parks
    5. I would like to walk into a room and sit comfortably in the first chair I see instead of scanning the room for the largest chair or squeezing into one for a 2 hour meeting.
    4. I would love to have the physical energy and ability to take care of my home and my yard.
    3. I would love to be able to commit to someone without fear of rejection due to my weight.
    2. I would love to be at a healthy weight before my parents pass away.
    1. I would love to be married.

I am in the process of getting my surgery hoping for end of August. Reading all of you top tens are all amazing and I can relate to most of them.. Here are mine!
    1. Be able to have children
    2. To never wear plus sized clothes again
    3. To feel confident in a pair of jeans and not worry about rolls hanging over. Or feel like I'm being suffocated. Yoga pants have been my friend for far too long!
    4. To not have to worry where I sit in public places because I'm scared I won't fit!
    5. To travel by plane and not have to ask for a seatbelt extender.
    6. To get a half sleeve tattoo.. Wouldn't think of getting one now with these jumbo arms!
    7. To explore many positions with my man!
    8. To not always be the straggler in the group because I can't walk as fast as everyone!
    9. I've always wanted to be able to do a push up! May not be a big deal to others but it is to me!
    10. My best friend is getting married next year and I am in the wedding with 4 skinny minis and I want to feel confident standing up there beside everyone!

Casey999! You will be great and you got this im sorry some of your support system isnt as encouraging. Surround yourself for now with those who are. My mom had a structure, she was admitted to the hospital and then they fixed it. No addituonal complications. She also wasn't follow the docs advice exactly to plan either. She smoked and drank diet coke (two things that are not good for those with rny). Hold your ground and maybe pulling out a list of what you what this when youre feeling nervous or needing reassurance. Peoples words can be hurtful but don't let their words that they formed from their opinions define you and change your mind. This is for you not for them. They can chose to be someone that you look back at this and remember that person really helped me or they can choose not to. Try not to let that define your choices. They arent you

I have not had any stricture issues but as baconville said it can be easily corrected if I occurs. And as far as your so called friends go, I would find new ones. Real friends will support you whether they agree with you or not. As you embark on this life changing journey, get some new friends along with new clothes, if they will not support you. There are a lot of people here that support you and your goal for a healthy life. Don't let the others sway you. Good luck and in a couple of months you will be so glad you went for it.

Congratulations Casey999 on your choice to live a healthier lifestyle! It is so normal to be nervous about the surgery, and almost odd not to be. All in all, I say trust that all will go well and you will soon find yourself on the loser's bench which is an awesome place to be!
I had my RNY on the 8th of this month, and sadly, I also experienced unsupportive reactions from people I considered friends. I leaned that some of their negativity was based in fear (will I still want to be friends with them or would my attitude change and no longer want to be around them), or based on jealousy (some people simply don't like it when you make a choice to improve and actually take the steps to do it). You can't do much about either situation because they are choices THEY are making. Hopefully over time, those who worry about losing you as a friend will come around by asking questions and getting to understand that you, as your core person, will hopefully be the same. Those who are jealous and mean, don't share anything with them. They will seek out opportunities to find fault in what you're doing and capitalize on challenges you may face. Focus on you and your success and everything (and everyone) else will fall right into place.
    All the best tomorrow! :-)

Good advice from everyone. I do find it a little random of when dense chicken (dry) is going to lead to blocked feeling and slimes. Random, I tell you. I have to pay closer attention. It is not just about under eating the sleeve (good advice though). sometimes I can eat 5 oz and sometimes only 2 oz, depending on the exact density and moist level. It is hard to tell in advance. My wife generally always gets the chicken right. However, eating chicken made by others is a game of Russian roulette.
