    Hiccup

I think the hiccups are related to a spasm; which I had after surgery occassionally. But, my MD prescribed a muscle relaxer to help with that problem which worked. I was told to stay away from bread for quite sometime. Do you use regular utensils? I had to buy small dishes, small silverware so I would eat small amts. Right now I am eating about 1/4 of a cup to 1/2 of a cup at meals the most they want me to take in is 1 cup. Its hard because from what I have read; everyone is different. I have been lucky and have not had any issues with losing weight because I'm down a total of 40 lbs (lost 23 before surgery) since 10/29 and I have yet to have a reguritation or the feeling of hunger. I'm not looking for "bandster hell" but I have not seen it yet. Thank goodness. Good Luck!

    Banded yesterday

My pain was mainly at the port site. It was like a burning sensation. I did use an ice pack right after surgery which helped with the edema related to surgery. Now, I have that dreaded gas discomfort. I am still on a clear liquid diet until tomorrow morning. Then, I switch over to full liquids for 2 to 3 weeks. I have to drink 64 oz of Water a day, sip..sip...sip... Plus, I am going to make a Medifast shake in the morning to see if I can tolerate the Protein. I can also start skim milk. I hope I can tolerate the Medifast shakes because they are yummy. Good luck!
  7. Pre-Operative period : was horrible for me, I was trying to titrate my Lantus from 160-180 units which I took every night based on my morning blood sugar. The first week on medifast my sugars were 90 to 120. I was shakey, poor concentration, headache and just grumpy. By the second week, I felt great because my body adjusted. By 2 weeks from surgery, I was totally off my Lantus. The only meds that I took was a Multivitamin & Calcium. (prior to this my blood sugars were uncontrolled ranging from 250 & up) Post-operative period : I was banded 10/29. Presently, I am 4 days post-op and my sugars are in the 80's to 90's. I feel great in that aspect. My concerns now is dealing with the gas discomfort & learning to understand my lap band. Today is a not so good day for me but I know that tomorrow will be better.
  8. My port is midline 1 1/2 -2 inches from my sternum.

    5 Days Post-Op!

My surgery date was 10/29 with a few complications. I was hypotensive with blood pressure 80's/40's. I also had an area that decided to bleed. So, my outpatient stay ended up with an over night stay. Ugh! I did have the hiccups and read at one of the sites that this can be related to too much consumption at one time. So, I am measuring out my 2 oz of SF Jello and that seem to improve that. But, the neck & shoulder pain is still coming & going which is related to gas. My bellie is distended and firm which I also relate to gas. I just can't wait until day 14 when I weigh myself & I drop a bunch. I gained 7 lbs from surgery with fluids etc. Oh, the one thing that I have to get use to is the bubbling in my abdomen. Very weird sensation, I will be asking the surgeon about this. Hoping every day gets a little better! Sheri:rolleyes2:
  10. Tomorrow is not only my birthday but my pre-op prep of clear liquids. So, my birthday present to myself is the lap band on the 29th of October. I am nervous too because I really need this to work. I'm not worried about the post-operative period of healing etc....its the diet part. I'm doing 2-3 days of clear liquids, 2-3 weeks of full liquids & then starting pureed foods up to 1/4 cup per meal. My biggest time of issues is the night time. It's usually after 8 pm. Does anyone have any suggestions? Good luck everyone who is having the lap band coming up this week!!! Sheri O.
  11. I am having the lap band on 10/29 & was wondering how you were doing with it? Do you attend any of the lap band meetings at Ellis?

  12. Have you tried Mylcon drops for the gas discomfort?
  13. My date is October 29th. I am suppose to have my last weigh in tomorrow but I have a feeling I am going to have one more next week. It's very stressful right now for me. The weigh in's were really good but this last week I am worried that I might have gained which could cancel my surgery. I also have my medical clearance which will be a breeze since I am totally off of my insulin. My blood sugars are better now then they have ever been. Good luck everyone!
