    dr rumbaut?

I had surgery last thursday with Dr. Rumbaut and there were 6 other women there doing the same. I am very very pleased with him and his staff they are wonderful. Some language issues with the nurses but other than that everything went extremely well. As far as I could tell with everyone else including myself, we were all very very pleased. He is an amazing surgeon and cares for his patients a great deal. I was up and around the same day as surgery and was sleeping on my side the 2 days out. A bit sore still on port side but no major concerns. (knock on wood) I do beleive you have made a wonderful choice with him and if you have any questions please let me know I'll do my best to help.

Cory, I'm with gonnabethin, I sleep on my left side with a pillow between my knees and supporting my belly so it doesnt feel like my belly button is going to explode and my port is pulling. I have found it helpful when coughing to hold a pillow against my belly for support and have'nt had any problems. I've been sleeping on my side since the 2nd day after surgery just as I was prior. I just use an extra pillow under my shoulders for support. I wish you good sleep in whatever you try. I have found that deep breathing has helped me greatly with the soreness after surgery, and it relaxes me as well. If you do the deep breathing try it from the diaphram not the belly. Good Luck.

Optimum Nutrition is my choice for whey protien, many flavors to choose from, including tropical punch that I like very well, put it in blender with 10 oz of skim milk or juice or fruit and ice, it's like a shake, and taste is very good, and filling. Isopure is good for me but water it down a bit cause it seems thick. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

Today is 4 days post op and I feel wonderful. Feeling a bit tight in the chest due to gas I'm sure but everything is working well. Just a note, my doc said there is no restriction on liquid in the first 2 weeks and being I'm on all liquid for two weeks I'm doing great. The only thing he stressed is low fat and ver low carb if possible. Funny but I don't seem to feel deprived at all. I tried coffee this morning (cause I love my coffee) they said it would be fine if I didnt have cream and sugar with it, didint seem to tolerate it very well kinda like I didnt have a taste for it. Oh well the tea is doing me just fine. Not sore this morning, like I had been just a bit tender around the port. I think this is going to be very very good, Its a new day and I'm feel very confident about the band and my personal choice! Keep up the good work everyone and keep us all informed.

Hello everyone, Got back from Mexico in Monterrey today and had surgery on the 14th, everything went very well and I was up and moving in no time. Did'nt experience any upset stomach or nothing. Just bit sore around port area. On Friday I laughed so hard at one of the other girls husband that it made me cry cause it hurt but other than that I'm doing very well. If any of you are having your surgery in Monterrey, Dr. Rumbaut is wonderful. There were 6 of us having surgery that day and only 2 were a bit ill after surgery. The staff was great and very helpful. I'm on a 2 week liquid diet and then 2 weeks of mushies. Doesnt seem to be a problem at all so far. The hubby is very supportive and it would have been hard without him. Good luck to everyone, and I'll be posting soon. It's good to be home. Oh by the way, changed my ticker from the weight at surgery on their scales, I guess mine have been wrong all along and the doc suggested I add 5 or 10 lbs to my goal cause I might blow away in a strong wind if I loose that much weight. So I'm off to a ok start with 3 lbs lost in 3 days on the liquid diet. I'll keep in touch gonna go walk the pup he missed me.

    The Saddest Thing

I agree, My mom works for the school district in Texas, she told me a very disturbing story the other day about the lunch room. (we all know it happens) They normally do about $1000. in sales in the snack bar each day. (not the school plan meals) and they enlarged their snack bar to accomidate the number of students this year. Keep in mind the school is a 3 A school (not very big), however the sales in the first day of school at the snack bar soared to over $3000.00, can you imagine???? If we as parents teach our kiddos good nutrition, and not leave it up to the schools as a babysitter, or demand that Mcdonalds and taco bell be taken out of our schools, (yes in Texas we have fast food places in the schools) we as a nation just maybe can improve our childrens life not only on the outside but the inside too. Please keep in mind at the snack bar, they sell things like pizza, , french fries, cakes, Cookies, icecream, and such. Have we as parents gotten so lazy in our efforts to protect our children that we assume that someone else will look after them or things will work itself out? I remember what got me to this point in my life to have this surgery, is this what I want for my children? The answer is no. Sorry to ramble, but my children are grown now and they are fortunate, they do not struggle with their weight, and I like to think I taught them well or they have seen what has happened to me and my struggle with weight, and choose not to go down this path. I didn't mean to upset anyone and this is not an effort to single out anyone who has children it's just my observation and a collective oppinion. It's our responsiblity! Thanks for listening,

Okie Dokie, Hubby and I are getting ready to leave town, visit family and such for the next few days. Oh by the way hubby is going with me, however taking him to Mexico is like being married to a stranger. Funny but he does'nt speak spanish, never has and I noticed when I took him to Costa Rica the strangest thing happened, His voice magicly changed, he spoke english with a mexican accent LMAO and I thought for a moment I was married to the "Frito Bandito" or the little Taco Bell Dog!!!!! I told him he could'nt do that this time because it would make me laugh and then I hurt from the surgery!!! LOL He is so damn funny!! Anyway, thought I would drop a line before I head out. I'll be in touch and will email from Mexico if I get the chance. My thoughts are will you all!

MCW, sorry to hear you don't feel well. Maybe walking will help to get that bubble of air out, not to mention help with any pain you may be feeling. Maybe your doctor can suggest some type of antacid, not sure but it's an ideal. Malox maybe will also help with the sick feeling. Check with your doc first. Getting ready here for my trip next week to Mexico, however I keep losing weight and have not changed my eating habits too much. Maybe it's nerves. Very excited, and have very brief moments of second guessing myself. I conquer the fat girl pretty quickly that seems to beat up on the mini me inside and things are alright in my circle once again. The cowboy husband seems to be more nervous than I, so I think I'll let him worry about it for a while. LOL Good luck to all and a very speedy recovery!

Allison, I agree with all the above. The weight loss is suggested to keep it from reoccuring. Not a cure. There is no cure, that I understand. I had many of the same symptoms you had and it was caught quickly. Poked, drained, meds the whole nine yards. Some vision loss here but the meds seem to keep things in check. Doc just reduced my meds because he believes the surgery will aid in the remission process. Hope to get off of them all together soon after. I'll tell you one thing, If I have to have ONE MORE MRI, I'm going to buy my own machine!!! LOL Seems like a good investment to me. Hope that's not the case. I'm happy to hear your doing well. Are you having or have you had the band? I do hope that everything continues to go well for you.

Doing fine here, getting everything ready in the house (pantry) to get started next week on the 2 week liquids, and mushies. I leave for Mexico on Teusday night and Wed will be all pre-ops. Thursday is surgery! Really excited about that part. The weather here in Texas is wonderful. After days and days of over 100 Degree weather, this morning is 69 with a high of 88. Cool weather at my house has a strange effect on the men in my life. Makes them all want to pee off the porch, don't ask ,me why! It's an animal thing is all I can figure. LOL

It'sgottago, is the liquid diet your on full of calories? Are you exercising? Some of us just tend to hang on to then unwanted fat. I do the same thing. Your body may think it's starving and will hold on to every thing it can thinking it's the only way to survive. Write down everything you eat (sorry drink)daily and make sure you call your doctor. They may have a suggestion that can help. I"m sure you will be fine and after surgery. Don't be discourged there is a "mini me" inside of all of us fighting to get out! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

The liquid diet and loss of weight does shrink the liver. It allows the the liver to be retracted eaiser during surgery. If the liver is too large they can't do it due to the possible injury to the liver and limited access to the stomach. Stick with it kiddos, the reward is going to be awsome!!!!! I am so damn ready!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on 14th!!!!!!!

LOl you guys make me laugh. I feel the same way! Went to my regular doctor today and was inquiring about getting my meds in a form where I can crush them as to not disturb the barbie size stomach I will own after the surgery. He was so proud of me making the decission and told me that the meds for the peusudo tumor I can decrease and them stop taking after they are gone can I hear a Yip YEEEEEEE!!! A little background: False brain tumor effects women in child bearing year, that are overweight, at least thats all they know right now, I was told there was no real cure but if I lost the weight, it would be possible that this demon would go into remission. Since then I made the choice to get the band, and will soon be on my way to the "right weight" losing and all he said I can decrease my meds and get them off the menu all together!!!! Can I hear another Yip YEEEEE!!!!! damn I hated those things, but it help to relieve the fluid in my skull and spine. Pardon me but DAMN I am so ready. Now for some more good news, I lost a butt load of weight, at least for me that is, 16 1lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! since my last visit over a month ago!!!!! Yip YEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! I think my body knows something is fixin to happen!!!! 14 days to go!!!!

Ok kiddo's going to my doc today for a consultation. My surgery is in Mexico and my doctor (state side) supports me completly. Have to weigh in and get all my meds changed to something I can crush. Seems the pills I take are going to be too large to fit through the "barbie stomach" I'll have soon. Maybe before long I won't have to take a damn pill except for a vitamin! Check in later.

    Never admitted until NOW

First and foremost Skinny people are angry and upset all the time, from what I can tell because they are HUNGRY! If they eat something maybe they would be nicer. I never was a barfer, I enjoyed the food too much for that. Force it out of my body No Freakin way! I did find that even though I have an addictive personality, I have seemed to in the past give something up if it was no longer needed. With Food it was another story. I like eating, I like cooking, I like pleasing my family with wonderful creations I made with love in the kitchen. (I did master the perfect Chol Chip Cookie recipie) My kitchen is a test kitchen, always has been, and I suppose always will be. Just not for me to enjoy any longer. Food is an addiction, just like that wonderful feeling we get when we shove that calorie ridden food in our mouth. Will Power? No Way, I just like it. No I love it, but I realized that my love affair, has to end because that relationship is harmful to my health. Just like that boyfriend or girlfriend that can't seem to do anything but give more misery than happiness. My family and friends will continue to enjoy the jewels from my kitchen made with love but that boyfriend of mine (food) has to go. I tried a divorce diet once but did'nt work, and I've been trying to kick Little Debbie out of my house for years, and that bitch keeps commin back. So will power?, guts?, determination?, what ever you call it, or just the love of a family and friends that supports you for your efforts and success and even if you fall from time to time they extend that hand to help you back up. I have at least one all the time. I can and will do it! I'm ready!
