  1. Hello all. I’ve been away a very long time. I had my surgery in 2009. The journey has been very interesting. I kept it off for 9 years. Then it started to creep up again. So heartbreaking BUT on April 27, 2022 I got on the scale and noticed I was up to 291 lbs. I had gained 91 lbs! I started a 1200 calorie diet and exercise plan that day and have been on it ever since. To date I’ve lost 51 lbs. it’s so hard but with determination and wanting to get back to where I was I’m getting there. What I want to throw out there, don’t take your tool as a magic wand. Really work to chance your habits and lifestyle and it’ll be all worth it. I’m glad to be back if y’all will have this old chicken

  2. I'm doing it right now. the first two days are hell, but i'm hanging in there. just tell yourself it's only temporary and you'll be done it after 5 days. yesterday i almost past out. i'm doing it because i'm out going onto 5 years and have regained about 30 lbs and now need to loose it. i am doing the pouch test to shrink my "tube" and then will go back to basics of Proteins first, then veggies, etc.

i let my comfort with the sleeve get the best of me and because of that, i gained weight. It's going to be a continuous battle for me all my life.

  3. hi all, I'm an oldie, haven't been here for a long time, but now i'm back for support. It's a bitter/sweet tale. I'm out now 5 years lost about 200 lbs and had the sleeve. I'm now gaining weight back pretty quickly, in the past year or so I'd say i've gained back about 25 - 30 lbs. Sad isn't it? And it's that darn head hunger, sliders, stress, and boredom. So I started back to basics. I must remember that i didn't spend 15,000.00 to regain all this darn weight. I started the 5 day pouch test yesterday and it's really tough, nearly past out yesterday, but am hanging in there. I tell myself it's only til wednesday and then it's Protein first, then veggies and if there is room, then some starch. . good starch. (LOL) Please all, just remember this is not easy, you will gain weight very easily if you don't watch out. . .it's hard and we will struggle for all our lives. . . i used to preach how the sleeve is a tool to help us lose the weight. Now it's time for me to practice what i preached. . . ugh. . . well good luck all and i'll be here for your support. Even us old ones need help!

  5. Thank you guys! I'm just upset because going onto my 4th year, I just wanted to live like a normal person and not always just watch what I eat. . . guess not. I'm back on the wagon. I've been following the Atkins plan for nearly 1 year. It works well and when I went off and added some carbs which i wasn't supposed to yet, i guess my body retaliated and i did feel badly. Nausea, bloaty, swelling, weight gain. . etc. But I'm back on it now and won't be coming off it. Protein good, carbs bad. . . Water good, soda bad! lol. . . . thanks again, i really feel better knowing that you all understood. . . blessings and pleasant journey (it's a damn long one)

  6. It really ticks me off when we get this surgery, do so well cause we're watching every single morsel that fits into our new tummies cause our Nut and Doc's say so, and then one day we go off our "diets" for a bit and bang we gain almost 10 - 15 lbs in less then 1 week! WTF! Kill yourself for nearly 4 years and then go off for just one week and HALLALooya@! Back to the "flippin" drawing board. . . this will never end! Ummm, yes it will one day. . . . Thank you for listen, now I'll shut up. . . .

  7. 6'0 tall, very large bone structure, highest weight every recorded 385 lbs. Pre surgery weight 360 lbs. in 2009. Now am 198-205 lbs wear size 14/16 tall. Have met my doctors goal for me but now am trying very hard to meet my own personal goal of 170 lbs. . . I don't think I've EVER weighed that. . . (at 12 years old I weighed 222 hahaha, so this is going to be interesting journey)

  8. OTR, I'm still killing myself with food. On another post, I just wrote how i let myself "go" for the past 2 years. I didn't want to admit to it, but I did. I gained about 25 lbs. Not horrible, but I need to get a hold of this or else all will be lost. So about 11/2 weeks ago, I started on Atkins. Been doing well. Thought it wouldn't be hard, well today was day one of severe carb withdrawal. It was one hell of a day, but i did it. I was to the point of numbing myself with medication to stop the discomfort of withdrawal. I can only imagine what it must feel like to be withdrawing from drugs or alcohol. OMG it's terrible. But this evening I took benedryl to help me with the jitters, it's helping. I can just imagine how i would be tossing and turning tonight! LOL. I'm an addict. . never thought I'd say it, but here it goes. . Hello, my name is Ericka and I'm a food addict. . . .

  9. Oh my dear, how i can relate! I let myself "go" for the past 2 years. I thought for sure I was invincible but guess what? I am not. I gained weight, not a horrible amount but enough (25 lbs). Now I had to get a grip on it before it really got out control. I started Atkins with net carbs of 20g a day. It is so hard. I've been on it now for 1 1/2 weeks and as of today have finally gone into carb withdrawal. It is horrible. I can only relate how a addict to drugs or alcohol must feel. I was doing everything possible to avoid eating today. I had my meals as normal and stuck to the diet. This evening i was going nuts, ready to even take medication to dull the discomfort. But I didn't, I did take some benedryl because i know if i don't i'll be tossing and turning all night thinking about chocolate, crackers, cheesecake and other evil things. I then got onto the computer to keep my hands busy and put on a really good movie. It's so hard, but if i can do this so can you! Together we can overcome this monster and be victorious in the end! Thanks for listening.

  10. kendra, I guess I was lucky in that i have a young daughter who loves nice clothes. She started to gain weight and I lost weight, she got my old clothes and i got her small clothes. Shoes work the same way too. The ones that neither of us wanted we donated to goodwill. Clothes exchange is a great thing if you can do that. Good luck!

  11. Well here comes something you probably don't want to hear, but I'm out 3 + years and, like you, had a beautiful mane of long, thick hair. I had surgery on Dec 29, 2009 and in March 2010, there it went, falling out in large amounts. My hair is so thin now (still falling out 3 + years later) and I've tried everything. So i cut my hair to my shoulders in hopes that would slow down the droppage, but nope. I wear my leftover strands in a small picky sized braid. All I can say is this, we sacrificed something for something else. We can't have it all. Some of us looked beautiful in our faces when we were fatter, we had the WLS, lost weight and now look not so beautiful. It's a definate sacrifice we have to endure. I'm sorry
