  1. Glad your at your daughter's. Take your time going home - be sure to stop every 45 minutes to hour like Sandy tells you to, even if you don't think you need to. I didn't on Christmas day and was miserable when I arrived. Gas-X chewables are good, too. Hope you feel better tomorrow. (((HUGS)))
  2. I saw Barbannn in the hospital yesterday and she was doing very well. Sandy came in said the were going to release her. She said she was going to stay in Dallas a few days with her daughter and drive home either Friday or Saturday, after all the New Year's revelers were hopefully off the road!
  3. Rachel - Thanks for posting this. These are some of the same questions/fears I have! I'm only 10 days out and still on full liquids, but sometimes feel I eat more than I should be able to. Good luck to you!
  4. That's exciting Judy! Keep up the good work.
  5. Congratulations Erykah! I was miserable the first few days after surgery, but by day 5 or 6 I was much better. Gas-x strips or chewables were very helpful with the gas.
  6. Congratrulations Marci! It will be here before you know it!
  7. Glad you are better. Kept checking your blog all day yesterday for news. Glad St. Pat's treated you well, but I love Dr. Zapata, too!
  8. My allergies decided to act up the day before my surgery. When I was being discharged the nurse practitioner told me one of the reason I felt so bad and couldn't drink much was because the drainage was taking up room in my pouch. She told me I really needed to get it dried up and I couldn't take my allegra because it can't be crushed or chewed. She told me to take Zyrtec, it comes in liquid and chewable form. I chose the liquid form and it really isn't too bad. It really helped to dry up sinuses and drinking became a lot easier and the nausea/full feeling went away, too. I hope your feeling better soon!
  9. Congratulations! Things will just get better from here! Keep us posted as you can.
  10. Congratulations! I hope to join you in onederland soon!
  11. WOW you look amazing! Keep up the good work, and the last 10 will fly by.
  12. Friend Tiffany- I am SO excited for you!!! Way To Go! What a great accomplishment! I'm proud for you and that all of your hard work has paid off!
  13. It sounds like you are handling things very well. Glad you had a successful time with your family.

Shontel- Hope everything went well with your appointment today. You're in my prayers.
  15. Lan- I am absolutely no help concerning your problem, but I did want you to know that you are in my prayers. I know you have been going through a lot since your surgery. I pray that you find some relief and answers and peace. (((HUGS)))
  16. Since I was self-pay, scheduling was quick. I don't feel I've ever had to wait an unreasonable amount of time in Dr. Nick's office. I had heard the same thing about waiting for Dr. Barker, but don't know that for sure. I have no idea about the pre-op diets but I haven't seen many that are exactly alike. Some do liquids only, some do shakes, and some do low carb, high protein. You'll just have to ask them.
  17. Hope- Glad you got to talk to someone. I hope his suggestions make things better for you.
  18. Glad you called. Hopefully you'll feel better soon.
  19. Dr. Nick is my surgeon. I was a revision from a band and had a very bad stretch in my pouch. Many surgeons would have done the removal and sleeve in one procedure but Dr. Nick said it would be better to do it in two so that my stretch would shrink and the stomach wall would be thicker when I was sleeved. I agree with Linda about him erring on the cautious side, which is fine with me. He had me stay an extra night in the hospital due to some nausea and low grade temp, which again was just a precaution but so worth if it would keep from later complications. I was self-pay like Linda as well. Don't know much about Dr. Barker but haven't heard anything bad except that one of his patients said she never really got to see him only his PAs. Every appointment I've had with Dr. Nick, I've seen him and the PA. That may not be important to you. I've loved Dr. Nick and feel everytime I see him he remembers me and my situation. How he does it with all the patients he has is amazing. Good luck!
  20. Leave the jammies at home. I stayed in the hospital gown while I was there, it was much easier to move in, go to the bathroom in, etc than jammies. Take a pair of slippers and don't forget the LIP BALM! I took a robe but only wore it a couple of times. Toothbrush and toothpaste are important to help get the funky taste out of your mouth. I wore out the clothes I wore in. Take phone charger. It's the least I've ever taken anywhere when traveling. I didn't worry about make-up, though I did take my face cleanser. I'm thinking of you and praying for you! I'll be in Dallas Wed. to get my drain out. I hope to see you then!
  21. WOW! Your results are amazing. Keep up the good work!
  22. I am just like you - I hate to bother people on Sunday. BUT your health is MORE important than disturbing your doctor on something you've been dealing with several days. I bet your surgeon knew when he decided on his career path that he would at times have interruptions on the weekend. I am sure he would much rather you call him and get better, than to worsen even more over another 24 hours. This is just my opinion. Hope you're better soon.
  23. My instructions about traveling during the first six weeks, is to stop every hour and get out of the car and walk for about 5 minutes. I had surgery Tuesday and traveled 1.5 hours each way on Friday. I should've stopped but didn't. It just wore me out all that much more. Good luck!
  24. That's great and so encouraging! It's nice to know that someday I will feel "normal" again. Since I'm just a few days out of surgery, I've been wondering if I ever will.
  25. Well, I had my sleeve surgery on Tuesday, 12/22. Things went very well. Dr. Nick said I had a very small amount of scar tissue from the band and was pleased that my surgery was only abour 15 min. longer than a regular (non-revision) procedure. He said that sometimes they are 2-3 hours longer. They kept me an extra night in the hospital because of some nausea and some low grade fever. My allergies decided to act up so I've been dealing with that too. The nurse practitioner said the drainage from my sinuses is filling my pouch making it harder for me to drink all I should as fast as I could. I'm still feeling pretty blech right now but can tell the stomach swelling is better because drinking is much easier. I probably over did it a little today traveling to my brother's house, but plan to be a vegetable at home the next few days, except for my walking, of course. Thanks for all of your support. The forum has been great and has made things so much easier.
