    Hi from Tas

hey all, emmajane, i found meat stews, as in how you would normally make them then barmix them, add mushed cauliflower, or pumpkin, or spuds, or those orange spuds, oh, McCain has brought out, oh sweet spud! too early in the morning! has brought them out sliced, boil them then, squish. about a cupful or handful, i found first time weird, but dont think of it as old peoples food! breakies, ceral of choice with more milk, lunch well i had either a mix of veigies or left over stew. i hope this helps. hope everyone is well. i am still sick, but at least can eat, i went on holidays to Geelong for my 29th birthday and to see David Strassman's, Ted E Bear's farewell tour, funny as! i was at 10kg when i left, after putting weight on when i was able to eat again from my sore throat, great way to lose weight, but i have a WOW! i had the same size serves, did have red rooster, but went halfs in a fish and chip basket with a friend, so no burger or no bread, and shared most of my chips with my brother, he's a growing boy, i also had a chocolate eclair, normal size, yummy, a very nice one, and i enjoyed it, took me 10mins or so to eat it, but i savoured every bit of real cream! also instead of cake i asked for mini cup cakes, that way if i had 10 it may equal a normal slice of cake, plus enjoyed some with icing!! pink and purple. unfortunatly my throat started to hurt again and i couldnt face a bbq, but had salads with extra mayo, heres the best bit, i actually lost weight, i am hovering 12-13kg!!! i am so happy!! i should go home more often, i think its a sign!! im planning to in the middle of next year, but want to get to 70-75kg to get a new job. has anyone else noticed the unofficial discrimination of obese people? were they would rather employe a slim or healthy lookig not as trained person, compared to an over weight well trained person? its not spoken off, does anyone else agree? well i going, need another coffee, i was awoken to find that i have 1-2 or more birds in my roof, and i live in a block of 4 townhouses, they are making such a racket, i hope everyone else is a good sleeper or have ear plugs!!! until the nexxt time, take care sus

    Hi from Tas

hey everyone, i get next fill on the 10th of november, as soon as i come home from my holidays. i found that afterwards as in my first fill i could no longer eat lettuce or rocket or sprouts, just crunchy stuff. so im adding either snow peas or sugar snap peas, both have the same amount of calouries. im day 5 today in being sick as, i have strepraccoccolus in my throat, the doc reckons i got it from work, i would agree!! i have to have panidiene forte just so i can take my drugs, ive put myself back on the liquids and hydrolyte icypoles cos my throat kills all the time!!! at least the antibugs liquid isnt too bad!! so in the space of 3 days i lost nearlly 3kg. so it brings my total now to 13kg, considering i wont be exercising this week, i can hardly breath normally, let alone having p.t! anyways hope everyone is well. sus

    Hi from Tas

hey everyone, hope everyone is well. i did a double shift at work last night so 18hr, 10 hours double time so an extra 500-600 bucks. i thought i would write and tell everyone how i felt when i was up past my bed time, makes me sound like a 2 year old! i got hungry, and they give you food, almost the same as the airplane food!! i had one of those sandwich made into 4 triangles, ate the bread throughly and no pain, but also and i really enjoyed it, baked egg with fruit custard, hmmm yum. my mum used to make it. so i figured i was hunrgy, the food was free and a treat, i weighed myself tonight and only put on 1.5kg, so im happy with that. i am determined this week, to go to the gym 2 times a week, eat as perfectly as i can, so i can lose 5kg by the end of the month when i go home for a week to see my family back in geelong and also see the david strassman show, it will be good, my 3yr old niece when she grows up wont remember me as her fat aunty, and make my nan and pop proud, and me so hopefully when i decided to have kids i can be on the right drugs so i can have kids, but as ive been told there are alot of kids out there that need a home and love. sorry for my ranting and raving, i suppose we all have reasons and i just wanted to share mine, being 28, turning 29 next month, im not going to be 30 and be over weight, healthy weight instead!! be good and take care everyone, until the next time, and i think having the fill has deffiently helped me sus

    Hi from Tas

Hi Sal, i got 3ml put in, in 2 months, lost 6kg. but today, totally sad and depressing, i went a month ago cos my big cut was red and infected, and of course the girls weighed me then, so this month i have put on point 1 of a kilo! my own fault, not exercising enough, but hungry and eating to big, and told him that and he said after 6 weeks put more in, had to have soup for tea, probley had 50-100ml of soup and not hungry!!! for the first time since i started eating!! stoked about that, and i can actually palpate now were my band is. he told me to go liquid today and soft tomorrow, so by tommorrow night back to normal i think! oh i have a goal, im currently 117kg, when i get to 100kg im buying a necklace, they look terrible on me at the moment so havent worn one or even found one that fits!! so thats a good goal, something i want! since 2pm when i got my fill, i have had soup and 2 coffees and am perfectly not hungry, so weird, yesterday, the same circumstance getting home from work i would of eaten, and had no problems with taking my drugs. has anyone found recipe books for us special peeps? ive been hunting but only found the occassional recipe but nothing exciting! no i dont have kids, been single for a long time, actually since i moved to hobart!!! but the weight is my embrassing isssue! but i would love to have kids later, im a career women. so when i move back to the mainland end of next year or early 2011 i want to get a retired grey hound, they are so cute!! and love cuddles!! and prefer to sleep the whole day than anything else! i recommend the wii fit to everyone, no matter what stage of fitness you are, it has something for everyone. i havent woken up yet to find out if its tight, i only finished work tonight at 10:30 and its 12:20 in the morning. i was just so excited and had to tell people who would understand what it feels like to all of a sudden not feel hungry and put back on the right track!! my neck is better so booked in for p.t again and must get my arse really into gear!! anyways goodnight everyone keep smiling sus

    Hi from Tas

hey sal, first of all as soon as you mentioned milo, i wanted some!! my nana used to make it wonderfully!! heat the milk on the stove even! perfect, that and how she prepares the hot cross buns, sorry couldnt help myself!!! i agree, i brought the book, it has confused me more than anything!!!! as in i thought bugger this!!! they should figure it out, the nurse i had post-op, said the other surgeon lets the pts have ice, but wilkinson wont, despite him saying it in his book on the second page!!! although i was lucky i had to drink to take my drugs, so needed it!! the book is nothing but trouble!! but being totally nieve and they suggest it and only $20, thinking more information, but nope, i wouldnt reccomend it!! i too am very impatient, having lost a tincy bit of weight i am just almost wanting that 60kg to be off when i wake up tommorrow!!! it drives me nuts and totally insane sometimes!! im at home with a sore neck, so havent been to the gym this week, i go to all aeorbics and have pt once a week, but when my neck feels better ill get back on the wii fit and do some step and boxing, my favorites, if you dont have one, i highly reccomend it, but at 28 im also a very big kid at heart still!! anyways, congratulations on the weight loss so far, on the days i dont exercise i have the wonderful steps to play with just to go pee!! i hate living in a 2 story house!! anyways, massive digress, i hope your kids get better soon and stay healthy, see yas sus
  8. im so happy that i have helped in some way!! just feel were you port is, how it doesnt feel the same as the rest, easy to go, what the? sorry, got reminded of what the of roves 10th b'day show the other night. if you have any other questions, just ask, did you have a barrum swallow? if so have a look, and you will see a little circle when the white stuff goes down. take care sus

    Hi from Tas

hey, thaat pain, farting? the only way to clear it, i asked hime about it in my 1 week follow up and he said just the gas, thinking, wonderful!!! trust me, even 2 months on, you still get the occassional stomach ache, and need either to go to the loo or have a massive fart!! but hard to tell. i hope your recovering well, yep dont jump!!! what are you drinking? found anything nice you like? i lived on up and go, despite the more cal's but more filling, especially when your starting to feel hungry. on friday i get my first fill, and am happy about it, cos im stuck at 116kg, cant break it!!!! yes, i have or am more insane than before! i think it will help cos im eating to big amounts and am very hungry inbetween and dont want to have to keep reling on cordial and coffee with extra sugar!!! but only a couple more days, hope everyone is well and let us tassie peoples stick together!!! and continue to be here for each other take care sus
  10. im the other way, im 28 now, and when i was 12-13 yrs, i was started on drugs for epilepsy, which have a great side effect of weight gain, and of course the more you weigh the more drugs you need, great being a teenager at an all girls high school, nothing was said, but im sure there were comments behind my back, plus im an emotional eater, before high school i was a normal i guess size, many 5 kg heavier than everyone else my age, but the drugs are for the rest of my life. if anyone questions you, simply a)your on a diet b)your really sick, and cant eat much c)stuff on your mind d)just tell them, and ask them to respect your privacy were i work there are 120 nurses, most to almost nearlly all know, which i dont care, i had people saying best of luck and good for you for doing it, even compliments after 5kg, shocked, at 116kg, the only difference i see is that the stretch marks are more white as apposed to red, if people have issues, thats their problem, its your life, your body, especially your life!! they may even have a back hand comment about the band, saying its lasy or taking the easy way out, its crap, i was thinking about a lapband, and the parents said do alot of research but they are behind me 100%, so from thinking that they only eat a tomato, to finding out its a massive life change and they have to work much harder than other people on diets its only if you lost too much weight and looked gaunt around the face they might ask about drugs, but stay healthy and she'll be right sus
  11. cos it doesnt linger for very long, althogh it must seem like forever, but sensitive, how much longer do you need to have it for, and have you spoken to your doc about it? heparin is really thick stuff, so yeah speak with your doc post haste sus

    Depo and Lap Band.

ive been on the depo for 8 years, and got banded 2 months ago, during that time, no bleeding, spotting, cramps, anything, the weight loss is from the junk ive eaten!!! you shouldnt be bleeding at all, can you get the pill, implion? just think of all the money you have to waste on tampons! talk to your doc!!! sus
  13. skuzie

    Calorie content? Should I swallow?

maybe we could contact weight watchers, they might know a points value, or evn have we thought about the saturated fats? what if they have had pinapple juice, is it then higher in sugars? even if it does taste better, i think more research needs to be done, ill ask the prime minister for a grant!!! sus

    PMS + Cravings...killing weight loss.

unfortunatley ive never had the problem, im 28 now and i started at 20 having the depo-ralera injection, once every 3 months, no period, no spotting, no flucating hormones. although you have to keep up your Calcium intake, but extra milk or mulitivit, easy. when i think of how much in those 7 years ive saved of tampons and stuff, talk to your doc, and point out that it really is hindering your weight loss, even the pill, implinon or something? sus
  15. as a nurse, i can say, they sting, but shouldnt itch, is the skin hot, or reddened or just bruised after them? are you pinching up enough fat before you jab yourself? sus

    Hi from Tas

hey emma, i was done at the private, the ward nurses on 4th floor which is surgical which is were you probley will visit over night are very nice. what info has he given you? oh dont forget to ask for pain drugs!!! im a wimp, and had a lot of pain, and dont forget the shoulder tip pain, heat pack panadol or whatever analgesia helps, from all the gas they pump in, it took my stomach about a week for it to go down, it was amusing, cos i had to pull my stomach totally in so i could get out the shower, i had to giggle!!!! for a month fluids, anything that could go through a straw, such as any fruit juices, V8 original is like cold horrible vegi Soup, but the citrus ones are good. in the fridge bit, drinking yoghurts, even nudie, gets some calories and some good stuff, in the Cereal isle, up and go, very filling with many flavours, my suggestion is in the car or in your bag make sure you have a fruit juice or something. you probley wont be hungry, but still make sure you have nurtional drinks like that at least 3-5 times a day, also i found thouse big packet mixes of chicken noodle soup were good, just strain the bits out, or any clear soup that you can drain out vegies, ministrone and stuff from cup of Soups, you can have tea/coffee diet cordial and Water as often in between, i afterwards became lactose intolerant, but luckily only to milk, i asked and they said not suprising but nearly 2 months and milk makes me feel sick, and i live for coffee!!!!! dont jump, cos i did about the 3rd or 4th week, and ate and got shocking pain, the band needs to sit in its little house, after the month, slowly as in for about 2 weeks, eat like an old ducky, like stew through the blender or barmix, lamb stew is good, mush your vegies, then after about 2 weeks slowly intoduce soft food, like cereal, initially add more milk, then slowly reduce to what you used to have, but so you still feel full. when you start to eat, about a palm or cupful. it might be helpful to take a multivit, i take centum, it can break in half, so it is easily taken cos you wont be getting all the normal stuff. also you can lose weight, up to 7-9kg in the 2 months, which im up to 5kg but its not the focus, just learning to relearn to eat that makes you full, comfortable, and if you have a lot of problems with vomiting let your doc know as so as, and dont jump ahead to decrease the chance of the band sliping upwards, you may also find that you cant tolerate the same foods, what else... so after that major essay, dont eat in the first 4 weeks, your doc might be different, but its the general jist. as per mr wilkinsons yellow booklet i hope i have helped in some way? are you looking forward to it? nervous/scared? i was inly nervous when i was wigging on to the table! personally i dont regret it, i wish id done it sooner, at least in 10-20kg it should help the pain in my knee! any other questions or goss you need to know, just shout, always here to help sus

    lapbanders called cheats

i so agree, before researching to decide to get a band, i used to think that it was the easy way, just eating small meals, but actually and i dont know if anyone agrees, but we have it harder, we cant eat some of our favorite foods, cant pig out unless we want to make ourselves belimic, and we still have to excerise and if we cheat it shows on the scales, we have scars for life! what would they prefer, to see more fat people or see slim people and not have the burden of supporting those with obesity related diseases? sus

    Alcohol post op?

the only thing to remember that some have empty calories. but for new years im just going to have one drink for a treat. i really like your idea!!!! take care all sus
  19. im a nurse in icu and only had my band done almost 2 months ago, nothing was mentioned to me, we can easily see the band with saline or without on chest xray, look at the barrium swallows you had and you can see it. plus when we palpate, or press on your abdo/tummy we can feel it, even when the years have passed and the scars are barly visable. when a ng is put in, its small enough to pass through the band, and we can still feed or drain puke or other wonderful stuff out, as for intubation, its in the upper laranyx or back of the throat, and the tube goes down the airway down to just before the lungs start. i hope this may help sus
  20. skuzie

    My First Fill!!!

nope i had sholder tip extreme pain for 2 weeks and abdo pain, well were the big cut is is still bright red, luckily it isnt dehising just very red, and sore on palpation and slightly infected. im a nurse, and were the bed rails are, with my my shortness they hit the big cut everytime, not plesent, i hope you feel better soon, i would be asking serious questions and not leaving until your happy with the answer, it could be anything but they should not just say oh it wont last long just take drugs and all will be well! if you were throwing up everything even fluids your band may have slipped, if its upper almost continual chest pain, you may have lower lung collapse. hope you feel better soon, sus

    Hi from Tas

emma, i wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery. the month of fluids is fun, and the days when you shall become unladylike and need to well express yourself yourself consitantly is the worst bit! for fluids, up and go especially in the fridge is great for breakie and even to have in the car. if you dont drink for a while you get a shocking headache and just dont feel right. were are you having it done? good luck again sus
  22. skuzie

Did you tell everyone or no?

i told my parents, who were and are very supportive of everything i do, they just wanted me to make sure i did research, asked around before rushing into a dicisson which i am guilty of! i told people at work, and i was totally shocked by their responses they all said good for you and good luck, i nearlly feel over!!! i told one set of grandparents and they were fantastic cos they have seen my battle with with weight for more than 10 years. im 28 and decided than turning 29 this year and i decided that i did not want to be a lard arse by the time i turned 30, i tried many a diet and am an emotional eater, i got my band done almost 2 months ago, and i get my first adjustment into 2 weeks, and eve now when stressed i think hmmm so could eat junk, but i think what a waste and what ive been through, soon takes my mind of it! i think after telling some people, even my hairdresser, can you anticpate their reaction. good luck sus
  23. hi kelstar, i used to think it was the easy way out, but through reasearch, i realised its actually harder than a normal diet which im sure im not the only one who has cheated on!!! i decided to get it done, im 28, and didnt want to be 30 and still be overweight, being a lardarse is no fun, so over it, summer is like being in an oven and the self disrespect i was totally over! i feel good, everyone at work is totally supportive and my family who all live interstate from me, im in australia, are very happy and cant wait to see me in a couple of months, i agree, i wish i had of done it 4 years ago at least!!! sus

    Disapproving family...help!

hi to everyone, im 28 and live in australia, your family is important, BUT your health is too! My parents said that they were behind me as long as i did my research, which it sounds like your doing, just remember you need someone to follow you up for the rest of your banded life until we are all old and grey! we have the same sort of thing here, people go to asia because its cheaper, but not always better. i wish you the best of luck! mine only cost me with private health insurance and medicare and anaestic bill was $1600 aussie dollars sus
