    Anyone from Houston

Good luck with our surgery!! I'm from the Houston area. I live on the east side of Houston. Dr. Snyder with UT Physicians did my surgery. I had it done at Hermann Hospital (Katy location). I haven't had any problems. It is nice to "meet" you!
  5. I have 7.2 cc in my 10 cc band. I really didn't start losing a lot until I started getting more restriction. It took about a week after the fill for me to really feel a difference. I think I am now at my sweet spot.
  6. I had surgery on a Friday and was back at work the following Tuesday. Honestly, I probably could have gone back to work on Monday. I had no complications at all.

How well does your husbands adjust to you weight loss?

I'm going through the same thing with my husband. I've lost 80 pounds too. He was insecure to begin with and me losing weight isn't helping. He is so scared that I am going to leave him for someone else. I've started caring more about my appearance which leads him to believe I am improving my appearance for someone else. When I go shopping for clothes, I try to include him. I ask for his opinion on outfits. I get things that he likes. On a daily basis, I tell him how much I love him and how sexy I think he is. All you can do is keep reassuring him that you love him and that you aren't going anywhere.
  8. I've lost 79 pounds and I have noticed it hurts to sit on any hard surface, like a floor or a toilet! I guess I'm so used to having a lost of cushion back there. Just curious if anyone else is seeing this. :-) Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I've lost the weight and I guess it is a good problem to have. It is just going to take some time to get used to it.
  9. Glad to know that I'm not alone. LOL Yeah, I wouldn't trade it for anything either. It is a good problem to have. :-) It also hurts when I'm in the tub.
  10. I lost my boobs and my butt first. I'm starting to lose in my stomach area now. Everything has gotten smaller, but the stomach was last to go.

    The last supper...

I miss bread and pasta. I can't eat them anymore. If I eat one bite, I can't eat anything else. I seem to get stuck. Other than that, I can eat anything else, just in smaller portions.
  12. I was told by my doctor that he would prefer that I want two years before having another child. Before you get too involved in the appointments and testing, find out what the requirements are for your insurance company. Make you you meet all of those requirements.
  13. I was a size 22. Now, I'm a size 10. My bra size went from a 44dd to a 39d.

Is there something wrong with me?

Recovery is different for everyone. Consider yourself lucky! I didn't have any pain or problems with my surgery. I had my surgery on a Friday and was back to work the following Tuesday. I had no problems with drinking liquids. Actually I could gulp water all the way up to my last fill. I'm not at 7.2 cc and have to sip my water.
  15. I didn't start gurgling until I got my last fill. I have 7.2 cc in a 10 cc band.
  16. I'm gurgling right now! It happens when I drink something.

Bump up the Biker Bander Bunch

My husband and I ride a 2005 Harley Road King Custom. He keeps telling me that I need to get my own bike, but I'm not brave enough to take the motorcycle safety class yet. My husband is dying to ride to Sturgis, but there is no way I would make it. We live in Texas. We would have to trailer it. Hopefully one day we will get up there.

    To fluoro or not fluoro

I have had four fills and have never felt any major pain. I feel a little pressure when he pushes down on the port before he puts the needle in, but that's it. It basically feels just like a shot to me. Not bad at all! This is coming from someone with very little tolerance to pain.

    Grumpier PMS

I am more emotional too! I didn't put two and two together until just now! I never had PMS before the band. Now, I can't control my emotions. It is crazy! I have no idea why and I have no words of wisdom. I just wanted to let you know you aren't alone.
  20. I'm up to 6.5 ccs in an 11 cc band. I'm at my sweet spot now.

How Do You Know Your Sweet Spot?

Yes, you will know when you get to it. You can tell from the way the food and water feel when going down. It won't take much to keep you full.

    Gum???

I was told by my doctor that I can't chew gum. I did chew it once and accidently swallowed it. I was fine, but at the time I didn't have much restriction. I don't know what would happen if I swallowed a piece now.

How Do You Know Your Sweet Spot?

I have an 11 cc band with 7.5 ccs and I'm at my sweet spot. I knew I was at my sweet spot when I could no longer eat pasta, rice, or bread. If I do, it feels like it is stuck in my throat. I can eat about half a cup of my meal and then I can feel it in my throat. My problem is I don't chew enough. It is so hard to get the chewing part down.

Billing Vent!!! Did this happen to you?

I had something similar happen to me. I was self pay and paid everything up front. After the surgery, I got a bill for 19,000 for "supplies" and some other stuff. I asked for a detailed bill too and received one. Once I got it in the mail, I kept calling the billing office to explain that I was self pay. It took four calls and me asking for a supervisor to understand that I was self pay. After talking to the supervisor, she said she would clear out the bill. It really upset me that had I used insurance, they would have billed the insurance company that outrageous amount.
  25. Yeah, don't beat yourself up about it. Everyone has slip ups. You just have to take it day by day. After you get to you sweet spot with the band, you may not be able to eat one piece. I can't eat anything with bread. It gets stuck. I miss it some times, but I know it will be worth it in the long run.
